Miyuki giggled and pointed at Earendil which caused the grandparents to look at each other knowingly. Miyuki was going to be very attached to Earendil in the future, they were sure of it.
Lin picked the giggling kitsune up and chuckled, "You always like it when he makes faces."

Earendil chuckled at that. "And when I tickle her, or toss her up in the air and catch her, or when I rock her ..."
He ignored the look that Donovan and Kara shared. Lin wasn't watching them, he was sure, and he knew now that they were supportive of him, at the very least. And with Kara's assurance that he would no longer be teased by Donovan, he wasn't terribly worried anymore.

"It might explain why she tries to follow you," Lin replied dryly.
Indeed, it seemed like Earendil spoiled Miyuki completely. Lin wasn't quite sure but she was pretty sure Earendil so far had spoiled Miyuki the most, at least attention wise.

Earendil blinked at Lin. "Follow me?" he asked, surprised. "When did she try to follow me?"
He hadn't seen her do that yet - though to be fair, most of the time, either he or Lin was holding her, unless she was tired of being held and in that case she didn't follow anyone.

"Uhm...."
Oops, she hadn't meant to tell him about that and there wasn't any other time she could think of, off the top of her head where they had let Miyuki down and only Earendil left.
"When we were at Shael and Adonai's home."
Please don't ask, please don't ask....

Earendil gazed out at nothing in particular, trying to remember back, whether or not he had seen Miyuki following him anywhere. "Follow ..." he murmured thoughtfully. "Follow ... I ... can't think of when that would be, which means I must not have seen it ... so ..."
He blinked, suddenly realizing what that meant. "When I went to the kitchen to help Shael?" he asked before he remembered that they weren't the only ones in the room.
Maybe she hadn't overheard anything ... it was a faint and desperate hope.

Lie... Lie... Lie... Dammit it wasn't part of her to lie, stupid morals. Lin looked up at Earendil and nodded at this.
"When you were in the kitchen," she told him.
Could he at least not figure out that she had potentially been eavesdropping on his conversation?

Earendil smiled easily. "Ah," he chuckled, "that would be why I hadn't realized it." He laughed again. "Still, it's interesting to know. I have to admit, I'm a little sorry I missed it."
But his nonchalance was all an act: he knew Lin well, and he could see in her face that there was something she didn't want him to know, and her hesitation told him that it was something to do with that particular event. There was only one thing he could think of: that she had overheard at least a part of his conversation with Shael.
But she hadn't said anything about it, and seemed as if she didn't want him to know ... he wondered how much she had heard, and what part. Obviously not enough for her to realize that it was about her ... she wouldn't be acting the same then, would she? And she would have understood the teasing of the day before, wouldn't she have?

He didn't ask, she was so relieved, in fact Lin didn't realize it until she felt a chubby hand on her chin that she had been hugging Miyuki. She sighed a bit and carefully held Miyuki like she was supposed to.
"She really likes you," Lin commented.
She didn't know why she had to say it, but Lin felt it was right.

Earendil chuckled, not missing Lin's reaction to his not saying anything. "Well then, I feel honoured," he grinned. "Really, I do. Of course, if the daughter of my best friend didn't like me, well."
He chuckled again. "That just wouldn't be any fun, would it?"
Maybe he would take her aside later and ask her about it.

Kara looked between the two and really thought something happened. She didn't dare ask what and it would be for those two to figure out.
"So where are you two visiting today?" she finally asked to ease up the tension.
"Visiting? Oh! Uhm... I suppose Aliya maybe... today since Naida and River want to go swimming today as well."
So maybe they could all talk outside or something, it would be good for Miyuki to get some fresh air outside, as long as she didn't try to eat anything.

"I was also hoping to get around to visiting Celebor eventually," Earendil offered, "and perhaps a second attempt at a visit with Ulani and Ulrich? Since it seems that I wasn't quite in the mood for it yesterday."
He made no mention of the teasing, or of what had happened, making it seem as though the entire disaster had been his own fault.

"Sounds like a plan," Donovan nodded, "I'll be making rounds at the barracks, and visit Halmir, Arthael and Celeborn for old times sake."
Which was surprising seeing as Halmir in the beginning of Haven's creation had struck Donovan as really weird. Actually the man was still kind of odd though had mellowed greatly since marriage.
"Oh yes... I forgot Halmir was sleeping when we came over," Lin mused, "Next time then."
Unless they ran into him on shift, she wondered if he was still easily distracted.

Earendil chuckled. "Perhaps another time, I can actually meet him," he grinned. "He sounds like an interesting fellow, to say the least."
But that was the danger when one wanted to visit someone who could be on duty at any time. There really was only a one in four chance of actually seeing them: they could be home, on duty, training, or sleeping.

"He is," Lin admitted.
Halmir was always an interesting person as far as Lin knew, though she had seen him change a lot since their first introduction with each other.
"But before any visit, breakfast first..."
