Naida's body contorted and writhed, her screams coming out in blood curdling gasps.

"STOP IT!" Proteus yelled. "They each have their own libraries, alright? Anything they have would be there..."
Helena smiled, "Excellent, now that wasn't so hard, was it?"
Proteus just glared at her.
"I thank you for your cooperation, I believe that's all the information I need for now..."
Proteus snorted and leaned down to check on Naida, "I'm sorry for getting you into this..."

Naida was curled up into a ball, shaking and trying to keep from crying. "Proteus..."

"You evil witch," Proteus hissed at the unicorn.
"Evil?" Helena repeated. "I am nothing of the sort. I serve a higher calling. Besides," she shrugged. "What is the suffering of one fish in the pursuit of knowledge?"
"One fish?" he repeated enraged. "I'll show you what suffering means!" he growled lunging at her.
Helena smiled and raised the dagger which she'd never relinquished. "Love is a weak emotion," she said stabbing him. "Makes people behave foolishly, without thinking..."

Naida screamed again, uncurling and dragging herself haphazardly over to Proteus. She concentrated and ran her hoof over his stab to try and stop the bleeding at least. It was hard because she'd never worked on her healing skills, she'd hardly ever needed them before. She bit her lip when she tried to close the wound, drained from working on herself and not entirely skilled enough to heal the wound well.

"Hope you're a better healer than a fighter," Helena said tossing the dagger aside. "He's a source I plan to tap into again." With that she simply disappeared.
"Well..." Proteus was finding it difficult to breath. "That was...pretty stupid...of me..."

"I will fillet her next time," She spat as she tried to keep healing Proteus's chest. She sat back on her tail and used both hooves to try and make Proteus better, using her power to try and weave the torn muscles back together

"I don't want you..." he struggled to get a full breath. "I don't want you anywhere near her..." He closed his eyes and laid his head back, "She's dangerous..."

"Shh...you're wasting energy. I'm having a hard enough time fixing you as it is...your talking, as much as I love to hear it, isn't helping." She checked his lungs and found a small hole, which she began working on, fixing a few minutes later. Her task moved back to closing the wound enough to move him or find him help.

"I just..." he said quietly finding he was breathing a little easier now. "I wanted to keep you safe..." He let out a short, bitter laugh, "I did a pretty lousy job at that..."

"You did a wonderful job, Proteus. I couldn't have asked for better." She closed the wound and fell over, catching herself with her hooves on the ground. "Can you move?"

"I'll try..." Proteus clenched his teeth and groaned as he pushed himself up, then collapsed back to the ground. "I...need to rest for a little while, I think..." He glanced over at her, "Naida, you ok?"

"Just worn out, that's all. I can try and fix you again in a couple of hours, if no one finds us...you won't bleed to death and shouldn't get infection, but I don't have the energy to do anymore right now...I'm sorry..."

She shook her head. "I am in no way leaving you here so that when she comes back, she kills you without a fight. I'm tired, but I can still wing a dagger."
