Ulani laughed softly. "No, you're not late at all," she assured Ryu. "Aliya's just always in such a hurry ... though I have to admit, she does have a reason. Elberon puts the horses out at different times every day, and she never has any idea how early she has to be to beat him to them."
"He could just make it easier by letting me put the pregnant mares out," Aliya put in pointedly. "I think he puts them out early sometimes on purpose."

Haradhel followed the sounds to their origin, which was the stairs. She of course was at the very top of the stairs, on the fourth floor, so when she looked down to see Lin making her way painstakingly down the steps, mostly what she saw was a little black bob of hair.
She made her way down the stairs towards Lin quickly and silently, smiling softly to herself.
"Would you like any help?" she offered, squatting just above Lin on the steps.

"Would he?" Feng asked as she ushered Aliya towrads the direction of the ranch, since she didn't want her new friend to be late.
Feng remembered Elberon, but she mainly remembered him being the one as asking Aliya all those questions during the spar. Which was just cute and funny, well that and he spent time with Lin answering her questions for once!
"I don't think he would be the type to do it on purpose do you Ryu?" Feng asked her brother innocently.
Ryu shrugged his shoulders as he followed the two girls, but keeping place with Ulani. Since he was still from childhood experience wary when the two girls were that close together. Let's face it, Aliya and Feng together, plotting, talking and planning, things could get a bit chaotic.
"I wouldn't know, I only remember him contstantly asking questions," Ryu murmured.

Lin paused from where she was on the step to look up in surprise to see Haradhel on the stairs. She didn't even hear her coming! Though, if Lin really had thought about it, she could never hear an elf coming so it should have been of no surprise to her. She looked at her, and mused on that as she put her hands on her tummy.
It was getting sore, but she wanted to go down the steps by herself, but these steps were bigger than back home.
"Hmm....." she looked down the steps once more, "Okay!"

"Unfortunately," Ulani smiled ruefully, "he would do a thing like that. Not to be mean or spiteful, you understand, but because he has an overly large sense of humour that he doesn't always realize others may not share."
"He's basically a big tease," Aliya added with a grin. "Like a big brother, almost. Kind of like Halmir, but not as ... odd."

Haradhel smiled warmly and reached down one hand beside Lin, holding it so that the girl could climb onto it.
"Maybe we should see about adding some blocks to the sides of the steps for you," she commented thoughtfully. "Makes smaller steps, though you'd have probably two or three times as many steps to climb ... but at least you'd be able to do it on your own."
She smiled. "What do you think?"

Ryu would have said something that would have questioned the idea of him not being odd, but then again compared to Halmir the man was not odd at all.
"I suppose, though I suppose to him it would be kind of amusing," Ryu murmured. Feng giggled, "He's quite silly though, even if he's not odd."

Lin crawled onto Haradhel's hand cuddling up on it now that she didn't have to keep lifting herself down. She looked up at the woman with a large smile, the idea sounded like a lot of fun.
"That would be great! I never climbed stairs like all the big people before!"

Haradhel laughed and lifted Lin, holding her carefully against her chest so that she wouldn't fall.
"Well, I would imagine that the steps must be quite tall for you at home as well," she smiled down at the girl. "Do you climb the steps at home at all or do you get people to help you?"

"Like most other elves on the ranch," Ulani remarked dryly, "Elberon ..."
She broke off as if reconsidering what she had been about to say. A moment later, she said, "He's just a guy. He does find it amusing to make Aliya do more work than she needs to."
"So does everyone else," Aliya frowned. "Most of the time I don't mind it, but sometimes it's a little irritating. Except Amdir, he's the only one who doesn't do that - but then, he's pretty much the only one who has no way to make my work load increase."
"That and he's quite a decent fellow," Ulani added.

"Well that and I don't think giving the someone more work is a good way to get them to like you," Feng replied thoughtfully.
Ryu rolled his eyes at that, honestly he didn't think Aliya got it, and if she wasn't going to get it, then she wasn't going to get it. Though he had to admit that was one of the more subtle comments his sister had ever made.

"Well... I try to climb up and down but someone always finds me and carries me the rest of the way up because it's a long way up because we're on the top floor," Lin explained.
She always tried anyhow it would be good practice for her she thought.

"And how many floors are there at your house?" Haradhel asked curiously, taking Lin to the kitchen and setting her on the counter so that she could begin to prepare breakfast.

Aliya shrugged her shoulders at Feng. "Sometimes it's fun when everyone plays tricks," she told her friend with a thoughtful grin, "and it really doesn't matter, I mean I like everyone there anyways!"
Ulani rolled her eyes, then chuckled softly. She knew exactly what Feng had meant, but she also knew exactly how clueless her daughter was.

"Four!" Lin replied back, "The top is for everyone in the family, except those with family they get the third floor to themselves, and the second floor is just in case we need more rooms."
Though she didn't know that in the past the inn had taken in people at one point. It was just it couldn't do that any longer.
