Her Silhouette Sil cradled her arm momentarily as pain shot through it, blood trickling down from a gash that had formed when her unprotected arm had struck the Akuma. It didn't cross her mind until after Maria's shield had protected her from the bullets that the moments that happened before could have very well been her last if she were on her own. Though the presense of Maria and the strange Innocence she had only heard about like a legend through the science department intrigued her, now wasn't the time to be inspecting Cross's eccentric ways.
Hearing him counting down, she decided to try the other arm instead, feeling that the connection in the right was weak. As soon as the shield dropped, the form of the young woman was streaming towards the Akuma with her left activated, preparing to strike it again. The scene before repeated itself-- the second she actually went to strike, the left arm deactivated as well.
“Bullshit,” she stated, but she was damned determined to do this on her own. Instead of giving Cross time to activate his questionable Innocence, she ran beneath the floating creature as it shot, giving herself a few more seconds to recompose herself. With a soft clap she put her hands together; if one hand didn't work, then she'd have to take her chances activating both-- it wasn't possible that innocence could feel so weak as it did the two times she activated it before. Simultaniously activated, the combined forces of the two half surged through her with double the strength before and a smirk quirked the corners of her lips.
With a kick off of the wall, the silver spikes cut through the top sides of her armored arms, growing in size with each passing moment. Two final strikes later, she cut through the Akuma with her activation lasting through the blows. Seconds later, though, they deactivated without her permission and she frowned slightly. “Well that certainly doesn't last long.”

"Well done, decchi," Cross gave her a few soft claps," You activated sooner than I expected you to, and the attempt was good, though it lasted only long enough to kill one lousy level one akuma." He gave a compliment, but also left room for the criticisms. He wasn't going to let her get away so easily, after all. He decided to give her a short break.
"I've got business to attend to now, so I'll be leaving you until later this evening. Take this time to bond with your Innocence. Keep activating, and try to hold it as long as you can. The better you know your Innocence, the greater your synchronization rate will be." He pulled out a cigarette and lit is, taking a small puff. He strode over and offered her a drag, a reward for her good work, however small it was. He looked into her eyes seriously for a moment.
"You really did well for your first time. Better than Allen. There may be hope for you yet," He gave her a small wink before giving her a gentle rub on the back and turning, leaving the room.

*Feels a surge of pride, waving goodbye to him, heeding his words well-- she was definitely going to get to know her Innocence. Especially coming from the rather abrasive Cross, those were some strong words.*
*Moves over and wraps her arms around Chloe in a hug.* <3 Hi Chlo~... Uugh! *Lets go of her quickly.* I forgot my arms were cut, sorry. D:
