Eh... :::She tries to say something before he fades away, but when he's already gone her shoulders slump...

What is chess...? :::She mumbled to herself:::

:::Cora eyed the book and the glasses, not really knowing what to do with them. She decided it might be best to leave them in their place... she had no way to get them to Bard, and he might not find them if he appears again should she move them:::

:::She gets up from her chair then, and walks back to her room, with the wine and her glass, paying no mind to X12. She'll fiddle with it later:::

*Exit Cora*

Torment

PostPosted: Wed Sep 21, 2005 10:35 pm

Once Cora left, in Bard's place, exactly, Torment faded in, although he was in the chair absolutely backwards. His feet were hanging over the back of the chair and his back was only half supported by the seat. His shirt was caked in blood and small scars covered his body, but nothing seemed fresh or too severe. In all, it looked as if he had been crushed and slashed to ribbons. One would think it'd be expected for him to show up injured nowadays.

((Even if ya'll aren't around or can't stay, Tor hasn't even been around for a while, so meh ^_^))

Tor blinked as his vision blurred between the beauty that was his wife to the underside of a table. At first he was damned sure he was doped up or dying or something, but when he realized he was in the Brink he let out a brief sigh and slid from the chair, landing headfirst on the ground. He groaned as he lay there, "Sometimes I really hate this place."

Slowly Tor picked himself up from the ground to dust himself off and, had he been absolutely sure nobody was going to randomly pop in, he'd have removed his bloodstained shirt. It was far too unpredictable these days, especially when the thought of that damned devil woman floated through his head. He mumbled to himself, "Damn whore...if Kalie hadn't have forgiven me I would likely be slaughtering you in my thoughts right about now."

** Enter Melliandra from Library 48 **

*Melliandra slips into the room silently as a leaf on a breeze. She takes a brief glance over her shoulder toward the library where she left Maggie and smiles to herself in satisfaction.*

Oh, my dear Bard, if you only knew the thoughts that were running through that girl's mind right now....

*She walks over to the bar to fix herself a drink.*

**Enter Maggie from Library, 48**

*Maggie emerges from the hallway, coming to a halt as she sees Melli. Her cheeks are still a bit pink, but not bright red anymore, and she's a good deal less flustered now. She clears her throat softly to get her attention* Melliandra . ..

*Melliandra is sitting at the bar. At the sound of her name, she turns to face Maggie and she smiles.*

Have you made your decision?

*Maggie crosses the room toward her and nods.* Aye . . . I have.

*she pauses for a moment to choose her wording carefully* I thought about . . . e'erything ye said. I know ye must know a great deal more than I do, and not just about this matter. I didna want te say no only because 'twas against what I was always taught in my world, in my time.

*she looks down at her hands for a moment, then back up at Mell, hoping she'll understand* But . . . I am going te say no. *even though she's a little nervous to disagree with her, she meets her eyes* I do want Bard te feel as though I could be his equal, as though I'm worthy of his respect . . . and yet . . . e'en more than that, I want te feel that way about myself. I dinna think that I would if I went with ye. . .

*Melliandra nods* I won't pretend I don't think you're making a mistake, Maggie, but as long as this is what you choose, then I respect your decision.

What do you wish to do then? Go back to studying the book?

*Maggie smiles toward her in thanks, relieved that Mell's not cross with her, and then nods* Aye, I think I'd prefer te -

*but before she can finish her sentence, she fades right out*

**Exit Maggie**

*Melliandra smirks* I think I'd prefer to do that myself.

*she rises, adjusts her mask, makes her way to the door, and exits to her own time*

** Exit Melliandra **
