Now people started moving in closer as the seals moved away. Nobody came too close, but it was clear that at least 2 were taking video. People were still cooing about the beasts, and Annie's head dipped below the water again, presumably to see them closer herself.
Toby was grinning as he swayed Maia's hand as well. "I love you too. I think we have their blessing."

"We do," Maia said, with a smile. "I didn't think they'd recognize me," she added, thoughtfully. They hadn't seemed to, when she'd last been here--but then, she hadn't left her house much. "I'm just glad the seagulls haven't shown up yet," she added, with a laugh. "They'd all want cake!"

"Especially with all of the fae here. Oh well. Don't jynx it. We'll just count our blessings," Toby teased, and he wrapped his arm around Maia's waist and headed back for the table.
"I can't believe you're my wife now."

"I can't believe it either," Maia admitted. With all the preparing and worrying, she'd almost forgotten how special this moment would be. "Everything's been so perfect today," she smiled at Toby. "I told you it would be."

He beamed and admitted in a low voice: "I was terrified."
Toby laughed a bit at himself. It was true, though. It hadn't been cold feet so much as burning nerves, and now it was done and he had a new wife.

"Me too," Maia smiled at him then. "I was sure I would fall!" She kissed his cheek. "Or trip, or something. Lori helped." She didn't think the day could've been any more perfect, though. This was the happiest day of her life.

Oregon had been nice, but Luca was glad to be home. He settled on the couch and was reading a cooking magazine. Following recipes didn't really seem to help him. It was remembering not to be loud, or remembering to set the timer that got him. He'd check whatever was in the oven, and it'd be undercooked or burnt.
Neither made anything taste particularly good.

Lori seemed to be the more apt chef of the two, but he was gone at work most days and rarely had the energy to whip something up unless especially motivated. Desserts, of course, always had to be bought.
Today, though, was a day off. He came inside, wiping his greasy hands on a rag. He had been elbow-deep in his truck, replacing a part that had blown the day prior. He headed to the kitchen with the rag, washed his hands, and then came back to Luca. He still smelled a bit like motor oil.
"What're you reading, hm?" He leaned his chin on top of Luca's head.

Luca smiled and held up the magazine. "Still trying to learn how to cook," he admitted. "Truck fixed?" He asked, then.
Lori was super talented. An agent, the head researcher, and able to fix cars! "I thought the recipe sounded good, maybe you should try it," he suggested.

"Yup," Lori said, but there was only satisfaction in his voice, no pride. He craned his neck over a bit to see the recipe and the photo alongside it.
"We could try it together." Cooking, eating, all of it. Eating in was more about love and bonding than making masterpieces to him.

Luca smiled and nodded. "Alright," he said. They could make something together, it tended to be less disastrous then. "Do you think we have everything for it?" He asked, and looked over the recipe again. They'd have to go to the store if not. "I applied to the library in town, but they want someone who's got experience with their newer computers." He tsked.

"...probably not." Lori chuckled. Having a fridge stocked full of purposeful ingredients wasn't usually a thing for him, and he hadn't gotten into the habit of it. Usually he tried to plan the week's meals ahead of time and specifically shop for them. This one could easily be added to the next week.
"Oh?" He paused. "Have you ever thought of working for the Bureau?"

"We'll have to go shopping, then," Luca mused. Was it worth it? He looked it over again, and smiled. Well, if they were going to learn to cook, they'd have to learn to buy ingredients. "Come on, love. We'll buy this stuff, then we'll try it."
"Working for the bureau?" He echoed. "I hadn't, no. Is there an opening?"

"Sure." He wasn't sweaty enough to make Luca wait while he showered. They could just go and come back and cook. Anyway, the oven was going to make the whole house hot.
"Well, they don't exactly advertise," Lori said and kissed Luca's hair. "We have a Records department, though, and a pretty big library. There's always opening for entities."

Great! They'd shop, cook, and spend time together. A day like that sounded pretty perfect to Luca. He smiled. "We could watch something after," he offered.
Really? A records department? And a library? Luca seemed to perk at that. "How do I apply?" He asked.
