"We have, sir, for the most part accomodated the residents of your manor," explained the young man, before halting abruptly in front of your room. "Yours." He seemed to be ignoring Terryn, most likely because he hadn't been expecting her, and unforeseen things flustered him.

Terryn stayed a step behind, mainly because the man was utterly repulsive to her. She stayed silent, really not wanting his focus brought to her.

"And naturally, sir, we would have found room for the rest, but all of our rooms were occupied." Here, his eyes seemed to flicker uncertainly towards Terryn.

Terryn caught his glance briefly, returning it with her usual icy expression. She would have to make a note later to inquire as to why she was referred to only as "the rest".

"This is Terryn," clarified Marcus, setting down their things. "Montelice. I'm sure you have been aquainted with her father."

"The earl?" asked the young man, his demeanor changing entirely. "Yes, yes. A delightful man. Yes, I knew you looked familiar. I hope you'll excuse our lack of space, miss."

Terryn nodded, her expression not warming up one bit. "I do not mind. I am sure I will find some accomodations."

The man nodded graciously. "I will go have the servants prepare some food. Please, do not hesitate to ask for anything," added the man, gesturing wildly before disappearing.

Terryn only softened slightly once he was gone, though she was obviously cross. "I remember him, awful little bugger. Met him a few years back at my father's annual spring banquet." She crossed her arms over her chest and frowned. "But awful or not, I still have nowhere to sleep."

"Oh, that's alright. There's some nice, large benches out in the garden," answered Marcus casually, putting some of his clothes into a dresser. He cast a look at the bed and looked up at Terryn. "If you'd be comfortable with it, there's room for two here."

Terryn didn't answer right away. She was slightly conflicted. On the one hand, it's not as though they weren't at the point where it would be unacceptable any longer. However, "sleeping" together and actually sleeping together were two totally different things. Eventually she just shrugged. "Whichever you prefer."

"I have no preference," answered Marcus, trying to keep any awkwardness away. "However, I should warn you that I plan to retire late and rise early, and I understand that that is a disruption to some people." He sat down and smiled at Terryn. "I won't be offended if you prefer the benches."

Terryn shook her head. "I have insomnia, but I sometimes tend to awaken early. If you do not mind a little tossing in the night, I would prefer it inside."

Marcus nodded, rising again as the young man entered. "I apologize for the wait, sir. And Miss Montelice," he added hurriedly. "Your food is ready, I hope that it will be good enough to compensate for the delay."

Terryn nodded to him. "I am sure it will be." The fact that Terryn ate practically everything except for meat was assurance that the food most likely would be just fine.

The dining was a particularly trying affair. The young man hardly touched his own food, busy looking excitedly from Terryn to Marcus and back, occasionally jumping up to get something like another napkin, or looking at a servant abruptly to ask if there was another dish coming. The food was good, granted. But when the young man had turned his head, Marcus stole an opportunity and discreetly flicked a pea at Terryn.
