I just found out today, that l'Ile Saint-Helene is an artifical island made by all the earth that were taken out of Montreal's underground to make space for the metros. xD

The fireworks today, which was from Canada, was a bit weird.. a lot of new fireworks, but it wasn't really very harmonious.

death-light I just found out today, that l'Ile Saint-Helene is an artifical island made by all the earth that were taken out of Montreal's underground to make space for the metros. xD Sorta. Ile Ste. Helene has always ben there, it was named by Samuel de Champlain after his wife, who died while here ( in Quebec city actually). It was just added to for Expo 67. they added about 1/3 more land to it. As a kid, oh so many years ago, my family used to go to the very fancy ( at the time) restaurant, Helene de Champlain, there, back in the late 1950s. Ile Notre Dame, where THE grand prix (take that Toronto!) is held is completely man made, using the tailings ( fancy word for excavated dirt) from the digging of the Metro. Today's history lesson is now concluded. Class dismissed blaugh
