"Yup!"
Andarien trotted along happily, looking at everything he could without squinting for perhaps the first time in his memory.
"Hey, Ada," he said suddenly, looking up at Earendil with a puzzled expression on his face, "did you always have black hair?"
Earendil blinked, surprised by the question. "Y-Yes ..."
Andarien looked as though he was thinking about Earendil's reply, but then he merely nodded. "'Kay."

"Did his hair not look black before?" Lin asked.
She did have to wonder about that, because to say a person glowed probably didn't fully describe what Andarien was seeing.

Andarien looked up at Lin and shrugged. "He glowed," he said simply.
And of course, light was not black.
Earendil smiled softly to himself. Andarien was Andarien. Things that made sense to him didn't need explaining - so he thought - because it would (of course) make sense to everyone else.

Lin blinked and shrugged deciding it wasn't worth getting him to expand on it. Though it did make her wonder what Earendil's hair looked like before, because to say it glowed was pretty vague.
Eventually they reached the study, though the door was closed to maintain privacy.
Lin knocked and heard in return a muffled 'come in'. Unlike Kali's home, the door wasn't locked in case someone really needed her mother.

Earendil opened the door and held it for Lin and Andarien to go in first.
"It's us," he said over their heads as they went inside.
"Mi!" Andarien called out cheerfully. "I got my goggles and now everything looks weird!" He ran forward to find his sister, completely unaware that Kara's space was probably filled with magic in one form or another. The best part was - thanks to his goggles, he didn't see any of it anyways!

Miyuki was sitting at a table with her grandmother with a piece of paper with a complex array before them. It was actually the original security array that was on the ceiling of the portal room.
There were a lot of ways to do seals and like much of the magic Gaians did it was interpretive, but it gave a focal point for magic to work. In some ways it could be more varied than simply casting a spell, but it was also difficult to wrap one's head around sometimes.
At the moment, Kara was going through how both the runes or letters and the shape they were arranged in could affect the outcome of an array which was a much more complicated seal.
Though Miyuki was momentarily distracted by Andarien's shouting.

Andarien ran into the room but stopped short when he saw that Kara and Miyuki seemed to be focusing (or at least attempting to focus) on something. yet when he saw them, his grin only got bigger: he didn't see either of them glowing!
"Grandma! You're not glowing!" he exclaimed excitedly.
Yes, Miyuki wasn't glowing either, but Kara had glowed brighter without the goggles so that was the greater thing for him.

"I'm not?" Kara looked up from what they were doing to smile at Andarien.
Miyuki glanced up at Andarien but looked back down as she scribbled a few more notes about the concept. Rune arrays apparently were like programming and making a computer board, there was a lot to take into account.
Of course there were the seals that her grandmother made, like the endless bags one was easy, because her grandmother made it and then could explain how it worked so Miyuki could do it. Unfortunately Miyuki couldn't apply a seal using magic, that was far more advance so she would have to write it or draw it. Though she was assured this was normal.

Andarien giggled and hugged Kara around her legs. "Well, you probably are," he grinned at her, "but Nana and Ada got me my goggles and so now I don't see the glowing stuff! So now it looks like you're not glowing anymore!"
He couldn't be more happy about it, either.

Kara chuckled at this as she placed a hand upon Andarien's shoulder, "That's wonderful to hear. I know it's been hard on you since arriving here."
Even though Arda had more beings with magic, Gaia used magic a lot more than Arda. It was kind of an interesting trade off from Kara's point of view.
"And did you have a fun today?"

Andarien nodded brightly. "Kali taught me all kinds of things!" he beamed. "About gears and mechanics and energy and photosynsisisisis .... however you say it. But energy from the sun and solar panels and all that stuff!"
Plus he had gotten his goggles, which meant that he could see everything like everyone else saw everything - in his opinion, the day just couldn't get any better!

Kara couldn't help but chuckle at that, most wouldn't consider that interesting, but to each their own. She knew from the many children she had that everyone was a bit different in their interests.
"That's good to hear," Kara murmured.
She then turned to the adults in the room.
"And how was your day?" she asked the couple.

Earendil smiled warmly. "Good. We had a lovely visit with Long and Mi, and then we went to the city and picked up Andarien's goggles."
He didn't mention the other books they'd gotten for Andarien, because he wasn't sure when they were going to give the books to him.

"That's good, I don't get to go there often, but it's nice to visit Mi on occasion," Kara nodded.
Of course, often it was because Mi liked having Kara around.
"Miyuki, are you ready?" Kara finally asked as she noted the girl was still quiet and still scratching away at her paper.
Miyuki paused and looked up from her work, "Almost...."

Earendil smiled. It was nice to see Miyuki enjoying herself with Kara, especially learning about magic. He knew Lin wanted to give her more of those types of lessons, but neither she nor Earendil were able to give her lessons in magic.
Well, they had waited for Andarien, it was only fair they do the same for Miyuki.
Andarien released Kara and wandered over to peer over Miyuki's shoulder. "What you doing?" he asked curiously.
