Cale Darksun And was quite the popular fighter 300 years ago. Just because the Sopwith Camel was a sturdy, reliable plane, that doesn't mean I'd want to dogfight an ME 109 in one. Aureks and Hammerheads and several other ship types were updated over and over and over again, and were used for thousands of years while still able to hold their own against "modern" equivalents.
And don't get me started about the difference between our progression of technology and that displayed in the Star Wars galaxy. They develop new tech at such an excruciatingly slow pace they might as well be standing still. Consider that from the earliest eras displayed in Star Wars to the latest, the blaster is still the #1 weapon in the galaxy, with little (if any) change in how it works, what it does, and the damage it causes.
Given that we are allowing that much of a suspension of disbelief, it shouldn't be too unreasonable to allow someone to fly around in an updated model of a ship from a previous era and still have it perform admirably amongst its peers, especially since the lore specifically demonstrates that it happened...

Unrelated...
Can someone post an add-on to the Weapon Tree in the new gear rules explaining what Silverplate is, and giving examples of some types of enhancements and personalizations? Seems a bit vague and confusing...

So, if they're so good, Sky, then why have I yet to see a Jedi pilot use one in SWTOR?

Ok, from everything I've been able to dig up about the SWTOR era, about the only real hyperspace capable fighter out there is the Plug 6 heavy. You see it in almost as many places as those shuttles, and unlike them they're armed with decent armor, guns, and shields, plus they seem to be the defacto transport vehicle for the fringe element.

Seems a bit vague and confusing... Silverplating increases the durability of your weapon, meaning it doesn't corrode and is toughter to break. Enhancements include things like scopes, personalized handgrips, silencers, longer barrels, stabilizers, secondary fire options, ect.

Seems a bit vague and confusing... I would think the mods have quite a bit on their plate as is, Skye. But even in star wars, there's a lot of various alterations, such as beam splitters and all which cale added. I can fully understand that they didn't give a list for not only the reason that there are a lot of modifications a person could have, but also to not limit people to just a single list.

Anyone know of any references to airspeeders or trooper carrier/gunships in the period so far? Beside the normal 'taxi' that we see in the game, at least.
Something atmospheric for the most part. A dropship maybe.

The skyhopper isnt period though. And I think that the dropships from the game aren't quite what Im looking for, and may stand out a bit too much. Well, I may just have to use it anyway, least I have one with me....

...........Des, have you even gotten to Balmorra? That's a major mode of transportation: Friggen skyhoppers. They're boxier and with shorter wings than the ANH ones but they're called bloody Skyhoppers.

Do you want me to change the post?
