Bilious

When her FEAR disappeared, Riyo was faced with a gift.

In her state of mind, it was a lovely gift, beautiful even. "I... Shall cherish this." Her voice was shaky as she squeezed the kidney, the blood flowing down hers (and Mort's) arm.

A terrible groan fills the field and the fishes stills and flops lifelessly down into the water, it's last meals sliding out of its gaping mouth. A few moments later the body slowly dissipates, and FEAR beam shoots out again, but this time up into the air rather than back into the house. It spins and stretches until a giant glowing disc is hovering above them.

Oh thank Jack, she smiled at Alcie hugged her and pulled the demoness and Julian closer as she hugged them back. Screw cages, and haunted houses, and FISH, and where the heck were those stupid fake reapers? Sin was still itching for a fight, but at this point going home wouldn't be a bad option either.

"I don't know...this whole place seems to crazy for killing a fish to be the magical way out..." Or maybe that was perfectly logical in a place that had defied every expectation they had since entering?

Sin suddenly looked up and frowned, bright light...she didn't wanna go towards it did she?

There hadn't even been time to react. Something hit the ghost boil unexpectedly, and he was dissipating before he hit the ground.

Invictus spilled out of the creature's mouth, somehow not looking even a hair out of place, even with the strange speedo he was wearing. Spookie-speedo indeed. But somehow the rest of him remained undisturbed, brushing his shoulder off before his eyes turned to look up towards the light that had gone shooting straight up into the air.

Then the disk of light formed. His 'freak' eye seemed to take in it's appearance completely, frowning at it ever so subtly.

His suspic-o-meter was going off in his head about it. Yes, he was very sure they were harvesting now. Or, were they perhaps done with the harvesting at this point in time? That was possible, to be frank. It seemed the results had been different this time, but to what goal had things ended?

There were too many possible outcomes.

The she-wolf reminded herself that he was smaller and younger and had just reason for being panicked. There was no need to feel like she needed to go sink her teeth into something...or someone. And since she had teased Remi a little, she had to tease Jove just a bit too.

"You know your brother is gonna give you one of those looks for biting someone trying to help you." She gave him another scratch before looking back over at the kitsune. He was...the second? Yes, there had been that little ghoul kitsune too. But Remi was much bigger. She offered him a smile, still wary of what was around them or what might sneak up on them.

"Puppy teeth." LW remarked, giving Remi a slightly sympathetic look. "They do sting just a little bit." Then she grinned. "Remi, is it? Well...it's nice to meet you. I'm just sorry that it was, err....at such a time as this." She was, if being honest, glad he hadn't accepted that offer. A certain gryphon would have been a wee bit angry over that one. But she had only been being fair. Since a particular puppy hadn't even apologized yet.

She blinked at Remi in confusion at first before her gaze shifted to Jove. Now there was an expression she hadn't really seen on him - unless it was because of his mushrooms. What...? "Umm..." LW had no idea what to say and hoped Jove might help her out here. Somehow. Maybe a sign...

LW blinked as the fishzilla dissipated and a beam of...FEAR?...shot out of his body and began to form in the air, taking on the shape of a disc. Well Jackdammit that was not the sign she had been talking about!

And now the fish was gone, horrible gone, and the water could finally recede. The nude Marrowstripe started to walk away from where her sand had built up around her in a nice little pile, but her foot was stuck and she tumbled over onto the ground. She slid forward and down her mud island, legs landing up and kicking herself in the back of the head.

Man, hopefully no one saw her do that, or else they'd be looking at orange legs and butt.

Julian looked a lot more worse for the wear right about now, but that didn't stop him from clinging fiercely to Sin and Alcie, his rumpled wings stretching around them. His friends were all right, for now, and... and that was good for the moment.

But then Sin looked up and he followed her gaze, frowning at the disc of light.

"Jack dammit, wh-what n-now?"

Tybalt watched as the creature dissipated like the others. Only this time, rather than the beam going back into the house, it shot upwards and began to form some sort of glowing disc.

What in Jack's name...?

"I'm not sure I like the looks of that..." He commented, finally finding his way back to LW's, and Jove's side. Both of which who were currently with a kitsune boil.

When the field drained and the fish dried up Bul looked up to see the disc now and cocked his head to the side.

"Yo, man-" Bul called over towards Invi. "That look like something bad to ya?" he asked nervously.

LW's gentle jab had the complete opposite effect on the little pup, instead of making him less uneasy, he began to squirm rather violently. Ren! Where did his brother go? Where... Where did Herryk go? And the valkyrie he was talking to? And Seiji? Hadn't Seiji just been there a second ago?

No, they had to be around. Under the water slowly draining from the area, maybe, or just hiding somewhere... With one last wiggle he slipped from LW's grasp and hit the water with a wet, sickly sounding slap.

Then he paddled around in little circles, whining as he frantically looked around for the missing students. It didn't even occur to him to look upwards, to see his brother still in the air, or the ominous glowing disc above their heads.

The thorns, in turn, stuck protectively by Calder. Barth sank lower in the water, every inch of him outside of it freezing.

"Not the splashing," he said nervously, mouth just above the waterline. Calder could see underwater, couldn't he? This really wasn't the time for this. "Are you- you know, h-holding up? With the...drowning?"

Gripping onto Mitsu's fur to help hang on as they moved away, Shun glanced back in time to see the big fish dissipation. Though, rather than going back to the house, it seemed to still be hovering around for once.

"Mitsu..." he murmured to try and call her attention to it. Something told him that whatever that FEAR was doing, it probably wasn't a good thing.

"By the way.. do you need me to get off?" he asked her. He didn't want to exert her too much and all.

Well at least the giant fish monster seemed to have finally been put down, the body fading from Toby's sights like a faint red fame dying into vacant blacks. Such was the way of these things passing in the human world (... or wherever they were now) apparently, but it seemed that their troubles were still far from over. Something had shot out of it and was discoloring the space above their heads most unsettlingly. What the hell was that thing? It had her skin crawling like a sack of bugs.

... But what could she do short of stand there in the surf and remain a quiet, faithful steed to her zombie (plus scareon) rider?

She didn't even speak. She just kept her pits pinned on the sky and her muscles tense. This felt like it could get even worse than ever far quicker than she liked to think.

The story thus far..

Earlier Inside:

Students had been caught by hunters in various and mostly underhanded ways. After a near loss of the kelpie, Calder, to weapon transformation, and then a strange rewinding of time, the captives soon found themselves alone to suffer the happy but painful hope of rescue together. And rescuers did come, after many searches for the cage's key cards, the rescuers took matters into their own hands, and sacrificing their own health, destroyed the hunters' generator. A bright blue light filled the room, leaving students feeling refreshed and energetic. As students reunite inside, a discreetly placed LCD screen lights up and begins counting down.

Is this the calm before the storm?

Earlier Outside:

Hunter trainees and students were taken to a room where time was held at a standstill. When they were released, they found themselves confronted with a very familiar scene: the hunter back yard encampment and a recently captured Soul Harvester. This was not a simple case of deja vu, but rather a do-over created through a deal between the Harvester and the mysterious Clockwork. The senior hunters appear to have no idea that time was manipulated in such a manner.

A battle began to take place, and the students, having run through this particular warzone before, now had a much easier time of it. But before things could really heat up...the Hunter Trainees got an new command, via text, and were transported out of the area for what was revealed to be an ambush on the other students who were taken through through the door of Space.

The benefits of going back and changing the past can be high, as are the risks. In this version of events, it was not Caelius to meet the Soul Harvester on the field as she was freed, but Dr. H and his assistant. Rather than meet her head on, power for power, the doctor took advantage of a moment of weakness to behead her, in the hopes that their portable containment unit could hold the Harvest long enough to fully contain her. But their are certain creatures in any world that should not be bound, and instead of holding her, it fully destroyed her instead.

Alone on the field against a mob of nightmare creatures, Dr. H and Clarice summoned the help of Moon Squad 12 to hold off the assault until Caelius returned with the trainees. Separately, the squad members are nothing too difficult, but their defensive coordination has created a difficult wall for those trying to fight their way into the tent. Others have sought to use stealth to sneak in the back way, but only a handful have made it through without attracting the doctor or his assistant's rather painful attentions.

A bright light burst from the tent and filled the field, giving students a renewed and energetic feeling. As students breathe a sigh of relief and wonder what exactly just happened, a creeping invasion of grey begins recolouring the field.

Is it really safe out here?

The Boss Rush:

round 1:
As it turns out, they really didn't have to worry about the countdown in the tent, and the creeping grey quickly became covered in rainbows and sparkles and students wearing princess dresses. The tent and hunter equipment were destroyed, leaving all of the students together on the field to face their next great obstacle together. A giant wizardly boo appeared on the field to make a wizardly attack but was quickly defeated by power of Fashion Rage and Puppies in Dresses.

round 2:
A monkey with a barrel proved slightly less fun than a barrel full of monkeys. Excited by all the [princesses on the field, it was soon raining kegs. Fortunately the princesses were able to knock him off the roof. In the end, twas beauty that killed the beast.

Glitter once again covers the field and another mysterious beam of FEAR-light shot back into the house.

round 3:
The smell of baked goods filled the air, and when the house was done baking, it covered the students with delicious spookies and attracted the attentions of spookies' natural predator: the Spookie Ghost. A delicious battle took place, and then the students all frolicked naked through the field and/or snacked.

The sound of millions of pieces of glass breaking comes from the house in the distance.

round 4:
A frolicking ceased as sharp Rain of Pain (and broken mirrors) shot out of the out and into the students! Next appeared a Couch. It just wanted friends, but it's timing was bad as by now the student were pumped with adrenaline and the need to kill just about everything associated with the house. It doesn't help that they have been without adult supervision for quite sometime, and thus are only two steps from re-enacting the Halloween version of Lord of the Flies.

It's been quiet for a little while, has the end really come? Sounds from the house indicate: no.

After flooding the field with minty cool water, the battered heroes find themselves confronted with an even larger boss, a giant fish that began eating students left and right, making them smell tragically bad. After defeating this beast, the FEAR-filled beam that shot into the sky and began forming a portal.

What could this all mean?

Round 5:
Everyone has been hit for -3 Minty Fresh Damage!

Moments later, a column of light filled the field, blinding the students while at the same time refreshing their own FEAR. When the light finally faded, the student's looked around and found themselves in a very different area, but with yet another horribly large boss to fight. An extremely familiar situation at first glance.
