Her running had led her to follow Blaine. She'd slowed before her friend did, and watched in silence, her anger and pain pounding into her. Walking up slowly, she touched her shoulder and whispered softly. "They care for each other. My parents don't love each other." Cocking her head at her she asked, "Do you believe in love?"

 Catalina stole away from the the castle, ignoring gaggle of students gossiping as if they had not a care in the world, lest they come to talk to her. Disappearing behind a topiary and through hanging vines, she found the small garden near the greenhouses that she liked to escape to as a student.
Cradling her knees on a stone bench, she sobbed, thinking of the terrible deal she had to make in the headmistress's office. She had betrayed Professor van Nikolai. Forget that she was likely to be sacked if the headmistress ever came back to power, Catalina could not bear that she was so weak as to let go of every virtue she valued after a bit of torture. She had even been foolish enough to lose her wand.
Catalina recalled Spain. Her love for muggles came because she had grown up with a witch mother and a muggle father. In order to rid her from any close-minded thoughts, her parents had lived among muggles. It wasn't until she received her owl from the prestigious and expensive Escuela de Barcelona para las Brujas did her parents explain to her what she really was.
It was a wonderful time. Until the civil war. A muggle leader had bombed their village. Her parents died, leaving Catalina penniless. She was accepted into Hogwarts on a scholarship and began her training. However, those painful childhood memories still kindled her belief that the muggle and wizarding worlds were connected. It was impossible to ignore either faction, because the issues were shared. If muggles were in danger, so were wizards.
Catalina shivered in the blazing afternoon sun. She raised her head and looked beyond the garden walls. There were dark clouds brewing on the horizon. There was a storm coming.

Blaine looked up at Amelia. Her pale, freckled face was streaked with tears. "I-I guess. I mean, its sort of hard to believe in love when your parents are always arguing. But I do know its out there," she said quietly, then added, "I'm sorry. It must be hard having parents that don't love each other. Mine argue, but they do love each other."

Amelia shook her head. She was used to her parents not loving each other. It didn't bother her at all. Trying to convince Blaine of this she replied, "They love me." She nodded, knowing that was what was important. "Love doesn't make things easier I don't think. It makes it harder; because you worry over the one you love. That's why they fought." She knew she was sounding philosophical, but couldn't help it; this was the only way she knew to express herself about this. Still she frowned, "Though what they said was confusing. Professor Volkova didn't want to hurt her. She was scared of hurting her. So I don't know why she said she did." Amelia knew when someone really wanted to hurt you. She'd been bullied, and her father sometimes drank causing the same emotion. Professor Volkova did not feel that way, so she couldn't have wanted to hurt Headmistress Sing. "Maybe love changes who you are, and that's scary?" The last was a guess; an attempt to clarify everything. She didn't think she was helping Blaine too much anymore.

Al walked onto the grounds after her terrible astronomy essay and couldn't help overhearing Amelia. She sat down by the ravenclaw and smiled.
"Love makes people do crazy things. You worry about hurting them so much, that you hurt them from all your worry."

Sparrow was in no mood to return to the Hospital Wing. SHe did not care if she got in trouble with the nurse. She could do as she liked. She was so confused and angry about her encounter with the adviser in the great hall. Sparrow rushed past all the people on the grounds who were oblivious to what was going on. They all thought she was an idiot who messed up a spell. She ran past wishing she could get away from all her troubles. She didn't know where to go and ended up at the lake. She sat down and stared out across the lake trying to sort things out.

Sparrow heard the announcement and really thought something was wrong again. Harming students was not something the Headmistress would agree to. Sparrow was kind of glad she didn't have to go to classes or she was sure to get punished. Then again she was ditching the nurse so should she go to classes?

Catalina wiped her tears away and sniffled. Her eyes were red and swollen, her nose drippy, and her body ached from the Cruciatus curse she had endured. Gingerly, she rose, and hobbled out of her secret garden.
She returned to the castle, trying to avoid the wicked storm that was making its way towards Hogwarts.

Lily smiled, walking out onto the grounds. Wandering she tried to take in the spectacularness of her surroundings. All these stupid rules and things were annoying her to the maximum. Her parents were muggles. It was going to get personal soon. Headmistress Sing was being unfair. What was even going on? She walked to the lake, finding Sparrow. "Hey Sparrow." She greeted glumly, sitting on the sand.

It took SParrow a few seconds to realize somebody was saying hi to her. She looked up clearly not focused and saw Lily. Sparrow hugged her kneed and said, "Hey Lily." She didn't know what to say right now. She was trying to figure out what was going on at the school and how to help. She waited for Lily to either continue or walk away.

Sparrow didn't know how to reply to Lily. She wasn't actually as confused as most people seeing as Desde had attacked her and Professor Reynolds had explained a lot. Sparrow was more confused about who was trying to stop her and what she wanted with the school and its students and especially Sing and Al. Sparrow said to Lily, "I don't know. I guess I am." She thought for a moment but her head started to hurt again. She really should have stayed in the hospital wing, but she hated it in there. She was getting better, but her muscles still hurt a little and the pink cuts were not completely gone. She hoped they soon would be. The nurse had said they would be gone in the next day or two so that was good.

Sparrow told herself she was an idiot for leaving the hospital wing. Here was just another example if the encounter in the Great Hall wasn't enough proof. She sighed wishing she didn't have to tell this story, but Professor Reynolds had said it was for the safety of everybody. So Sparrow said to Lily, "I erm was trying tome advanced magic and the spell erm ended badly. It is nothing to worry about. I already say the nurse, but I should probably get back to the hospital wing. I'm not fully recovered and I snuck out to get some real food and fresh air. I hate being stuck in that place." She got up and dusted off her robes.
