Keanu chirred softly during the transformation, making a face at the odd sensation as he changed. When it was all through, he blinked, and rubbed his eyes. He didn't have long until his mother swooped down to scoop him up, bubbling with happy words. He hugged onto her, a blush growing across his face as he gazed out through wide blue eyes.
Kami couldn't help but let out a delighted squeak as she watched Keanu appear before her. She squeezed him gently, and finally set him down, turning to look at Alyosha. "That was...amazing!" she said, looking at Keanu, then back to Alyosha. She was quite speechless, but bowed shortly, showing her gratitude. "Thank you, very much!"

Alyosha grinned at her excited manner. It seemed to be the way of things and he remembered being just as excited himself by Rahujo, then Osero then Acia's births into children.
"Please, Kami, it's nothing to do with me, really." he stopped, leaning down a bit to speak to Keanu. "You must promise me to be kind to Kami, she's trying her absolute best to look after you" He smiled at the little Aerandir before looking up to Kami apologetically. "I'm afraid I'll need to throw you out, I'm travelling to the mainland later this evening and I should really get this" - he motioned to his research papers - "tied up by then.
"I hope you don't mind," he added.

Rahujo ambled into the Centre and headed in the direction of the store-rooms. She'd run out of tea last night, and had regretted it when she came back from the ceremony on Ar'Idil parched and needing a hot drink.
Half-way across the large circular common room, she heard voices and stopped, curious.

"Well, I certainly couldn't have done something like that." she said, and rubbed the back of her neck, giving a weak smile. He was probably right, though, she thought. It was all to do with the Aerandir, of course.
Keanu smirked, and nodded, moving to hug against Kami. She wasn't so bad of a human.
Kami nodded, and headed toward the door. "Of course, we'll be on our way, then. Let's go, Kea." she gave one last smile, and let herself out, not wanting to waste Alyosha's time with unneeded chatter, and exitted out into the main room again. Letting out a soft sigh, she smiled down at Keanu. "Feel good?"
Keanu nodded, keeping quiet. Truth be told, he was a bit shy of speaking, not knowing if the words would come out right or not. He padded away towards the exit, looking back to see if she would follow.
"Well wait for me!" she said, and followed, hurrying as he slipped through to the outside.

Rahujo smiled as she saw the small Aerandir child padding through the main room, and raised a large hand in greeting.
"Good afternoon... I don't believe we've met. I'm Rahujo, the blacksmith for this island."

Keanu squeaked, and halted before getting all the way through, and moved back in, gazing up at Rahujo through surprised eyes. A bigger Aerandir! He'd never met any of the older ones before, though Kami had told him they lived on the island, too. He fidgetted shyly, and waved as well. "H-hi!" he managed to say, and smiled widely.

Rahujo went down on one knee, reducing her six feet of height to something more manageable for a small child. She knew from her own childhood that looking that far up at someone only resulted in a sore neck.
"What's your name?"

"Nnn...Keanu!" he said, delighted that hs words were coming so easily. Talking was so hard afterall. He got a bit closer as she kneeled, drawn by curiosity. "Who are you?"

Rahujo smiled. "I'm Rahujo." She tapped the large stone head of the sledgehammer that, as always, rode on her left hip in her toolbelt. "I'm a blacksmith - I deal in anything that's metal. My forge is just on the edge of this village, towards the eastern beach."
She looked over the gray-blue Aerandir, amiably curious. "What about you? I haven't seen you around before - are you new to this island?"

"Woow." he said, admiring the tool for a moment. He looked thoughtful, and then smiled. "Learnin' to cook!" he said shyly, grasping his hands behind his back. He nodded. "I've been staying wiff Kami...so I'm sorta new..." he said quietly.

Rahujo grinned. "Cooking is a good skill." Apart from metal, food was one of the things she enjoyed the most, although she wasn't a particularly proficient cook herself.
After a little thought, she spoke again: "I may have something for you at the Forge, if you pass that way."

He giggled softly, and nodded. He would have to bother Kami to reteach him the stuff they had made the other night. He blinked at her comment, and looked back at Kami, who was watching in the background, not having entered the conversation because it had seemed rude. "Can we stop there on the way home, Kami?" he asked, his eyes hopeful.
The girl jumped, and waved at the matter. "Of course, Kea!" she said, and cast a polite smile to Rahujo, somewhat intimidated by the tall Aerandir.

Rahujo stood back up, and wandered over to the store cupboards. "Well, if you give me a second, I may join you. I just need to stock up on tea first." She smiled at the quiet girl. "Thinking of what I have in mind for your boy, perhaps I should give it to you for the moment. It's ... quite large."
The store cupboards were not locked, as per usual. It was a moment's work to find the packages of tea, hidden behind some small sacks of soya beans and lentils on a high shelf. Height certainly came in useful in these situations, Rahujo thought with a small smile. She picked one of the packages and stowed it in the cloth bag she carried, then shut the cupboard.
"Shall we?"

Keanu moved to open the door for Rahujo, gesturing for her to go first, smiling lightly, and fidgetting with excitement, ruffling his small, speckled wings.

Rahujo smiled at Keanu's politeness. "Thank you," she said, walking out into the bright sunlight.
The whitewashed walls of the Centre reflected the light and heat, creating something of a sun trap in the packed-earth yard in front of it. If she hadn't been brought up in the tropical climate, she would probably have felt roasted alive under her heavy coat of coarse hair.
Waiting for Keanu and Kami to catch up, she ambled across the village in the general direction of the forge.( continued here )
