Dimitri smiled, squeezing her fingers gently. "I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it, if you're mom can cook anything like you can then it's going to be great." He said with a grin, reflecting on the wonderful Spanish meal that Maria had pulled together for them a few weeks back. It was probably a night that Dimitri wasn't going to forget, the food was great, but the company was fabulous. Dimitri knew that he couldn't ask for better friends then Kedrick and Arielle, and now, a better girlfriend than Maria. He sighed softly, his head drooping a little bit, a hint of a smile still on his lips. "And it'll definitely be better that what I'm used to." He said with a soft laugh, looking up and over at her. "I'm not a great cook, not like Kedrick, I basically live off of packaged Ramen and boxed macaroni and cheese....it's pretty pathetic" Dimitri said, looking up at the sky and breathing out a soft sigh. The food smelled amazing and frankly, boxed or packaged food got rather boring after a while.

He wondered what Maria would think of that, she'd probably chide him about not eating well, he decided. But Dimitri smirked none the less, he would definitely grow to enjoy teasing her.

Kedrick looked up, following Arielle's gaze and catching sight of Maria and Dimitri who were making their way over though the crowds of people. "I see them..." He said with a smile. He enjoyed seeing his friend so happy, the young man's face seemed to glow whenever he was near Maria. Kedrick got the feeling that Dimitri had finally found the girl who was perfect for him, he just hoped he'd trust her enough to open up to her.

Maria felt herself blush when Dimitri made the comment that the cooking done by her mom would be great if it was like hers. To an extent, it was like her mother's cooking. She and her brothers had grown up in a family where cooking was a big thing, almost like Arielle's. Everyone could cook and it almost came natural to them to cook dishes from their background. She could almost say that it was in their blood somewhat, but she couldn't help but blush at his comment anyway.

She listened to him as he continued and couldn't help but feel shocked about what he ate. She knew her brothers, when they were too lazy to make any actual dinner, would resort to Ramen noodles when they weren't at home back at their college dorms. She was so glad that they didn't hear Dimitri talk about his eating habits or they would start messing with him about his size. When he finished speaking, Maria was quiet for a bit before coming up with an idea, a bright smile on her face.

"Well, to make your life less pathetic," Maria started, already feeling proud of her idea, "I'll come by as often as I can and make you dinner. Or just drop you off some home made food. I mean, I've got to take care of you, right?" She smiled brightly, realizing that she had never exactly gone and visited wherever Dimitri lived and was pretty curious. She also wanted to meet his family too after hearing something about them. I just hope he doesn't mind, she added in her thoughts, realizing that it was kind of sudden for her to decide something like that out of the blue.

Arielle waited until Maria and Dimitri seemed closer enough before she waved them over, making sure that they could see her. It took a few seconds before she saw Maria start dragging Dimitri over to their table. She giggled and moved over some so that one of them could sit down. "Glad you could join us," Arielle said with a smile.

Maria smiled back at her best friend before getting a good look at Arielle and Kedrick. "What are you two doing?" Maria asked, a suddenly surprised look on her face, "Why aren't you two lovebirds sitting next to each other? How could you just let Arielle sit across from you, Kedrick?" Her expression looked so serious that Arielle couldn't tell her best friend was joking with them until she started laughing.

"I bet the only reason why you want Kedrick and I to sit next to each other is so that you and Dimitri can sit next to each other and continue holding each others' hands," Arielle commented with a small smug smirk before giggling.

Maria smiled and giggled herself. "Maybe I mean it like that and maybe I don't," she replied with a grin, "That is up for me to decide and for you to never find out. Unless you actually do... Then that'll be a problem." She smiled again before both she and Arielle continued laughing.

Kedrick smiled as Dimitri and Maria came to sit by them. He let Arielle razz Maria for a while before cutting in. "Well," He said lightly. "I think it'd be very hard for you guys to eat while holding hand so I suggest you tear yourselves apart for a few minutes and eat." He said, a smile playing on his lips

Dimitri smirked in return to his friend and pulled out a chair. "You guys think waaaay to much." Dimitri teased, sitting down and looking over to make sure there was a seat beside him for Maria.

The young man thought for a moment before realizing that he had never answered Maria's statment form early. He shifted uncomfortably, rubbing the back of his neck. "Hey Maria...." He said slowly, moving his hand for the back of his neck and shoving them deep in his pockets. "A-about what you said just a minute ago....I'm not so sure that's a good idea." Dimitri could feel heat rising in his cheeks and he was sure he was blushing.

Kedrick looked up at the two of them, worried that it was something serious. "What's not a good idea?" He asked with a slight frown.

Dimitri startled slightly, looking back at Kedrick before laughing nervously. "Uhhh...Maria and I were talking...and I mentioned I didn't eat a lot of home cook meals...you know, mainly ramen and macaroni..." He mumbled this last part so quiet that Kedrick could barely hear, but he pieced it together pretty quick. "She said she'd bring some stuff over...but I don't think it's a good idea.

Kedrick breathed a sigh of releif. "Oh that's all?" He asked with a laugh. "Dimitri, she's going to see your place eventually, it's unavoidable." He turned to Maria with a smile. "Don't listen to him, he just doesn't want you to see his place because it's a pig stye."

"Now where's the fun in not thinking?" Arielle teased, taking a bite of her food as she watched her friends take a seat. Her mind had randomly wondered how things would be if they all went to the same school. Sure they would see more of each other all the time, which was nice, and she bet that lunch would be fun too. Just the four of them eating at a table and enjoying each others' company.

She was broken out of her thoughts when Dimitri was telling Maria that something she had mentioned wasn't exactly a good idea. Like Kedrick, she wondered if something bad had already happened to the happy couple and was curious to what he meant. When all was explained, she felt relieved and smiled lightly at what Kedrick said next.

Maria wanted to protest but she wasn't sure how things would turn out in the end. She let Dimitri explain what they were talking about and saw how Arielle looked a bit worried. When Kedrick spoke, Maria smiled and playfully shoved Dimitri. "Looks like I win this, Dimitri," she said with a triumphant smirk, "And we'll work on this pig stye of yours as well. And don't try and get me to change my mind, I'm very stubborn when I'm determined about something."

"It's true," Arielle said with a nod, "She's always been like that, ever since we were kids. Once Maria's confident about something, there's no way you can get her to think differently." She immediately thought of different instances in her childhood where that was true, but she wasn't sure telling stories about their childhood adventures were needed at that time.

"So, are we ever going to do that Japanese Steakhouse dinner we had planned like, two weeks ago?" Maria asked currently, picking up a forkful of some potato salad, "Because I would still love to go and eat there."

Dimitri cocked an eyebrow in mock-surprise. "Stubborn? I would never have guessed." He said with dry sarcasm, and he caught Kedrick's smirk out of the corner of his eye. He looked back over his shoulder, returning his friends playful grin, Dimitri got the feeling that he'd very much learn to enjoy teasing Maria.

He turned back to Maria, a devious smirk on his lips. "Oh? Are you sure there's nothing that would change your mind?" He asked, still teasing, but there was a slightly flirtatious note in his voice. He leaned in so that his nose was almost touching hers and he desperately hoped that she would blush. "I'm sure I could think of something." Dimitri whispered, canting his head every so slightly to the side, his nose brushing against hers. Dimitri found that he liked seeing Maria blush more and more, it was cute, and he resolved that he needed to make her do it more often.

Kedrick watched his friends antics for a moment, seeing that unruly, flirtatious side of his nature that simply couldn't be stamped out. He smirked to himself, let Dimitri flirt with Maria for a moment longer and then grabbed the back of his friend's collar. "Alright, enough Dimitri." He said jokingly. "The girl asked you a question."

Dimitri looked up at Kedrick, pretending to be insulted. "Come on Kedrick, I remembered, I was just a bit distracted looking at a beautiful girl."

Kedrick snorted, remembering that he and Arielle had never been able to do something like this without being a blushing mess.

Dimitri took Kedrick's snort as permission to continue. "I'm sure it's still in the planing, but we can go to a restaurant any day of the year, come snow or shine. Camping is something we only have a short time yet to fit in, it'll be autumn soon and too cold to sleep outside!" He objected cheerily.

Kedrick let go of the back of Dimitri's collar with a smile. "True, but one party at a time, let's get through the barbeque before we plan the details of our camping trip."

"Very funny," Maria replied with her own dry sarcasm before laughing at Dimitri's comment relating to her stubbornness. For having two older brothers, she was used to having to retort back to sarcastic comments. She noticed his smirk and was ready to retort back when the tone of his voice sounded different. The closeness of his face to hers was so out of the blue, she couldn't help but blush. A small smile appeared on her face and she laughed. "If you think turning me into a blushing mess is going to change my mind then you might as well call it quits before it's too late," she returned in her own whisper, her smile growing just a bit. Of course her blush just happened to get worse when Dimitri was joking around with Kedrick when he had pulled Dimitri away from her.

Arielle watched them and tried to picture doing something like that with Kedrick. She remembered how Dimitri had turned Arielle into a blushing mess the first time she met him. If Kedrick had tried to be as flirtatious as Dimitri, she wasn't even sure if her face would return back to it's normal complexion.

After listening to Dimitri's answer and Kedrick's comment about getting through the barbeque before making anymore plans, Maria was quiet before playfully pouting. "And I was looking forward to having sushi," she joked before she fixed her hat some, "But on a more serious note, I can't wait to go camping. It's going to be so much fun."

Arielle nodded in agreement, finishing her plate of food and took another sip of her beverage. "Plus, with the leaves starting to change color, I'm sure wherever we camp at will be beautiful," she added with a smile, already feeling excited about the big trip.

Dimitri grinned at the two girls, resting his elbows on the table and twirling his fork between his fingers. "I know where we can go." He said, the smirk never leaving his face. "It's a great camp ground I went to once when I was younger. It's out by this huge lake, and there's a place you can rent canoes and such. There's lots of places to set up a tent and a nice fire pit..." He paused, trying to scrape together what he remembered of the lake-side camp ground. "There where lots of walking trails I think...there should be plenty for us to do, however long we decide to stay." He said with a smile.

Dimitri had chosen to describe the camp ground in detail rather than why he was there. It was one of the few childhood memories of his that he actually enjoyed looking back on. Jared had been gone on business for the week and his mother had wanted to do something other than just sit at home so she had taken him camping.

Kedrick smiled as he listened to his friend describe the camp ground, it sounded ideal. He looked up at him as he finished. "We'll have to get a lot of stuff pulled together, I know there are two tents in the attic of the estate so there'll be one for the guys and one for the girls." He glanced over at Arielle, as though to see what she thought of the idea. "We'll need to pack food of course...and sleeping back and a lantern...." He mused to himself, resting a hand on his chin an looking up thoughtfully.

Arielle listened attentively to the boys, already picturing what the place looked like and what they could do. It had been awhile since she had done anything remotely close to camping, and that was basically a vacation trip with her parents to the lake. As Kedrick listed some of the things that they were going to have to pack, Arielle tried to think of other things they could do.

"And flashlights," Maria said after giving it some thought, "And some marshmallows, crackers, and a lot of chocolate. What kind of camping trip would this be if there were no smores? And we should go fishing as well! I've always wanted to go fishing anyway. And... hmmm, what else could we bring?"

"We'll probably also need clothes appropriate for where we're staying at," Arielle said after a moment's thought, "Stuff to prevent ticks from sticking onto us and such. But I'm sure there's a lot of camping tips we can get from that one camping store downtown... The name is escaping me though."

"Don't worry, we still have time to make this trip absolutely perfect," Maria said with a cheery smile before something had popped into her mind. She was glad that mental reminder came or she would have forgotten she needed to give Arielle something. She sat her fork down and opened her bag, searching through it's minimal contents until she pulled out a simple folder, Arielle's name written on the front in Maria's nicest print. "Here you go Arielle," Maria said as she passed the folder to her friend, "This is a copy of all the recipes of the products that are sold at my aunt's bakery. She just wants to make sure you have at least a majority memorized. She hasn't given me a date for you to start, but I have a feeling it'll be soon. But like I said, you could work on them, and with your skills, I know you'll do great."

Arielle took the folder and opened it, her eyes scanning each of the recipes. She looked over the ingredients and how exactly they were supposed to be made. After a bit, she looked up at Maria with a smile. "Thanks so much for this Maria," Arielle said, turning the page to the next recipe, "I owe you so much for this."

Maria waved her hand like it was nothing. "No need to thank me," Maria replied simply, picking up her fork and continued eating, "I've got to look out for you, right? I just wish.. I just wished I thought of this three years ago..."

"Hey, it's alright," Arielle said with a small smile, "There's no point thinking about the woulds and coulds of the past. I've done that too much already...
Those thoughts distract you too much of the now and what you can do to make up for your mistakes. Well... That's how I think of it."

Dimitri nodded his head thoughtfully, mimicking Kedrick's movement and resting his chin on his loosely closed fist. He smirked slightly, his gaze shifting up to the clear blue sky above them. "Yep...bug spray and smores are definitely a must." He said, glancing over at the girls, and stopping as Maria handed Arielle the recipe folder.

"But not together." Kedrick reminded him with a smirk, nudging his friends shoulder gently and was rewarded by a dry smirk fro Dimitri.

"Yeah, yeah, you know what I'm talking about." He said, nudging his back and turning to his food. Dimitri speared a piece of chicken with his fork and popped it into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully.

Kedrick's eyes saddened slightly as the conversation turned. He never would have thought that Maria carried guilt over what had happened to her friend and it brought a dull ache to Kedrick's chest to see her feeling that way.He smiled slightly as Arielle encouraged Maria, and he leaned over Arielle's shoulder. "So," He said with a smile, one hand resting on the small of her back. "Let's take a look at some of these recipes."

"Guess you're right," Maria said with a small smile. Sometimes her thoughts would go to the "What if I" and "If I only" after the Jonesy ordeal and getting her friend the job. But she knew that there was no point in thinking like that, just like Arielle had said. Things were working out for them now, almost like turning a new leaf, and Arielle had never been more happier than being with her friends. All bad things lead to a wonderful beginning, she thought as she continued eating her food.

"Are you trying to get some food out of this?" Arielle asked with a teasing grin before looking at another page. The folder wasn't too big, having about thirty to forty different recipes, plus a couple of pages in the beginning which was the employee manual.

"There's some holiday treats in there as well," Maria said, remembering some of the contents in the folder, "Especially for Los Dias de los Muertos. We make a lot of treats for that," she paused, realizing that the boys have most likely never heard of Los Dias de los Muertos. "Los Dias de los Muertos translates to Day of the Dead. It's a celebration that happens in Mexico that goes on from Halloween to November second. In this celebration, families celebrate and honor the lives of deceased members. They make alters for them and lay out food in front of their graves so that their spirits could enjoy the food."

"It's a really nice celebration," Arielle said with a smile, looking at the recipes that would be special for that event, "Maria and I don't have any family members who are Mexican, but other Hispanic families celebrate the event. I did it once with Maria the year my parents died and the year after. We put so much work on making their alters."

Maria smiled at the memory, remembering how her father wouldn't really let her use some of the tools, afraid she would hurt herself. But their final results would always be worth it, and the food her family and Arielle's grandparents made were wonderful. Even her brothers were peaceful at that time, well, as much as they could be. "But that's what Los Dias de los Muertos is," Maria concluded with a nod before looking at Arielle, "Take your time learning them though. There's no need for you to rush anything at all."

"I know that," Arielle said, "There's just so many recipes in here. I'm sure our fridge would be very happy at the amount of food inside it. Isn't that right, Kedrick?" Arielle asked looking up at him with a grin.

Dimitri listened to the two girl's talk, his attention caught when he heard Maria ramble something off his Spanish. He lifted his chin off of his lightly closed fist, looking over at her with a curious frown. The dark haired boy listened closely as she and Arielle, in turn, explained the tradition of Los Dias de los Muertos. His initial thoughts was that it was a little bit odd and didn't make much sense, but then he thought about it a bit more from the perspective of someone with Hispanic background. He still had a hard time grasping the concept, coming from a mainly Japanese background on his mothers side, but he was able to except the odd, bittersweet beauty of it.

Kedrick nodded, understanding the concept a bit better than his friend. A smile touched his lips as Arielle referenced their long running joke. "I think so, after all the stress of holding the food for the party our poor fridge could use a little extra love." He said with a grin, picking up a bright, red cherry tomato off of the top of his salad and popping it into his mouth.

Athena blinked, looking over at the two of them, it was the kind of look that Kedrick and Arielle got a lot when they reference 'their poor baby fridge.' Until now she had been eating quietly, but now that this thoroughly confusing subject had come up, she felt the need to stick in a word or two. "Wait..." She started hesitantly. "I'm kinda lost." He said with a slight laugh. "What's all this about a poor fridge?"

"Yeeeeaaaah....." Dimitri said with a playful frown. "What is that all about?" he asked, his frown fading to a smirk.

Kedrick smiled at his friend and sister. "Inside joke." He said simply with a slightly mysterious smile and was greeted by a dark look from Dimitri.

"Common Kedrick! Spill!" He said in mild irritation.

Kedrick looked over at Arielle. "would you do the honors Arielle?" He asked, squeezing her hand gently.

"It's not a special story," Arielle said with a shy smile, laughing lightly at how everyone seemed interested in the explanation of their inside joke. "Kedrick could just as easily explain it to you as well as I can."

"Oh come on, hostess," Maria teased with a grin, "You have been elected by your boyfriend to do so, and I know you wouldn't let all us curious folks down."

Arielle rolled her eyes at her friend and gave it some thought. "Like I said, it's not a really interesting story. It happened a little after Kedrick and I met and.. I was looking in the fridge one day and noticed that we didn't have a lot of food. So of course we needed to go shopping. And, it was either before or after we went shopping that I had started the joke about Kedrick neglecting our poor fridge. And that's how the story goes."

Maria titled her head lightly and nodded. "You're right, it was a boring tale," she teased before lightly shoving Dimitri, "And of course you had to get them to spill. Made me think there was some kind of exciting story. I can't believe to tell you how disappointed I am now."

"Oh Maria, you're so silly," Arielle said with a laugh as she finished her meal, "Anyone up for seconds or desserts?"

Dimitri shot her a look, smirking at her. "Yeah, well, maybe you're right, it wasn't a very impressive story." He said with a shrug, cleaning off the last of the food on his plate. Now that he was thinking of it, he was rather curious to see what Maria would think of seeing where he stayed. His apartment itself was nothing fantastic, but it was it's state of disorder that would most likely shock Maria. He smirked at the thought of her face, and what she'd say to him. In the end, Dimitri just knew he end up smiling sheepishly and saying 'yes Maria.'

Kyla looked up, she had long since finished her first serving and had been unusually quiet though the meal. "How about....seconds and dessert!" She said, her face brightening with a grin.

Athena looked at her disapprovingly, shaking her head. "You can have seconds, but I forbid you to take anything more that's sweet." She said firmly, remembering the mound of sweets Kyla had taken on her first round though the line.

Kedrick smirked. "The warden had spoken." He said, tapping the back of Kyla's hand with his fore-finger, and was rewarded with a dirty look as Kyla stuck out her tongue at him.

Athena blinked, looking insulted. "The Warden?" She asked, her voice rising slightly in pitch. "I'm looking out for her, making sure she doesn't make herself sick! That does not make me a warden!" Athena shrieked and her face soured as Kedrick began to laugh.

The young man doubled over, holding his stomach, his shoulders shaking with laughter.

Dimitri smiled at his friend, reaching over and smacking lightly at his shoulder. "Hey, don't hurt yourself." He said with a smirk.

Dimitri stood up, picking up his plate, Kedrick, Athena and Kyla following suit. "Alright then, back up to the food line?" He asked with a smile, wondering briefly if they'd run into Ulises and Eneas in the food line and weather or not they'd tease him about his weight and stature again.

"Sorry I'm not that good of a storyteller," Arielle said, playfully sounding like she was offended and started cleaning up her plate. She wasn't sure what she should go for next, especially with the large array of food. She knew that she had to try out some of the meat her grandfather had grilled. She remembered how good it smelt and thought she might as well spoil her taste buds. Two weeks on nothing but liquids and soft foods made her stomach crave for something a bit more substantial.

Soon her attention was taken by Kyla, Athena, and Kedrick. If anything, she loved spending time with them. She was also surprised and relieved that Athena seemed to be getting on good terms with Dimitri, even though they hadn't spoken to each other after Maria came along. Still, there was a completely pleasant mood ever since they all sat down and she was glad for that. Because she knew that the weekend would only lead to her going back to school and dealing with all the curious students, She wasn't really prepared for going back to that, but she couldn't coop herself at home all the time, especially now that her condition was a lot better.

"You're all so ridiculous," Arielle giggled after standing up, "However, I'm going to agree with Athena on this one. I don't think she's a warden at all. However, that's my take on this. I'm going to stick up for Athena here."

Maria smiled and nodded, getting up and joining the group. "That sounds like the plan for now, Dimitri," she said, once again admiring the friendly atmosphere. She was glad to see her brothers happily distracted by one of their conversations, probably a debate about which European soccer team was better. She laughed lightly and made her way over. "What should I get this time~?" she asked, tapping her finger against her chin.

"Anything edible of course," Arielle answered with a laugh. In all honesty, she just couldn't resist herself from saying that. She only smiled sweetly as Maria looked back at her and laughed.

"Thanks for pointing that out, Einstein," Maria joked, going over to her friend and bumping into her lightly before they both started laughing.

Athena laughed softly, raising one hand to cover her mouth. She wasn't really offend by Kedrick comment, but it was fun to pretend that she was. "Thanks for taking my side." She said with a smile, looping one arm through Arielle's and one arm though Maria's. "Shall we go then?" She asked with a playful laugh.

Kedrick grinned at his kid sister, taking Arielle's other arm. "Right then." He said, and lead the way towards the food line, the smells drifting over to them and the grass hissing pleasantly under their feet.

Dimitri smirked, following close behind Kedrick and looking over at Maria. However much he wasn't sure of what she'd think of the state of his apartment, he wanted to see her again tomorrow. She was going to come anyways, sooner or later, so it may as well be sooner. He decided that he'd giver her his address before they parted ways today. Dimitri smirked slightly, ducking his head, his hair shifting over his eyes for a moment before he looked up again. He shook his head, partially to clear it, partially to toss his hair out of his eyes.

Dimitri fell into step next to Maria, smirking over at her flirtatiously. "So my dear stubborn girlfriend, still dead set on seeing my place?" He asked with a smirk, reaching over and tangling his fingers though hers.
