"I think it's because I'm so unique," he said jokingly, smiling again very moxiously. "It could also be that I'm trying to behave myself more than usual, I guess, trying to impress you. I want you to like me, and I wouldn't dare do anything to ruin that. Not on purpose, that is. Trying not to." He was being completely open. It was really how he felt on the matter. He was quite behaved for his usual self.

"I would be more impressed if you were just yourself. I honestly believe that if you try to act differently so that some one will like you, then that person isn't honestly liking you, they're liking the act you put up. Does that make sense?" she realized after saying all that, that it was a bit confusing.

"Does it also make sense that people change? That if you desire to be more likable by others, or in some cases a single other person, that you would adopt it completely to please the other person? Some people just completely change to have others like them; Instead of making others like them by being someone else, become someone else by being liked...Does that make sense?"

Cat laughed a bit. "Yeah it does, but I've only seen a few people pull that off, and only cause they didn't like they way they were to begin with. So do you like who you were?"

Rick sighed, shut his eyes and shook his head. "No...it took meeting you to find that out..." He looked up and opened his eyes. "You remember how I treated you when you first talked to me? That's just a small taste of what I was like. I was nasty...But now I want to be like this if it means you would like me. I wouldn't mind being able to treat everyone this way. It's really just...it's hard to explain." He laid back with his elbows propping himself up, looking up at Cat's face. He was now just a bit behind her, relaxed.

Cat folded her legs indian style and looked back at him, turning sideways slightly to make it easier. "Try to, I'm pretty good at figuring out complicated stuff." she grinned.

But good luck, it's pretty much a 11mm lead wall in there. And I'm much more fascinated with what's going on in that mind of yours..." He gave a sly smile, slowly sitting back up, still remaining that little bit behind her, and focused his attention on her.

She raised a brow. "The only things going through my mind right now, is what is it your unable to tell me, and how long is it going to take me to figure it out." she rested her arms on her knees. "I like figuring people out, but your proving to be a challenge my friend."

"Well, you wanna get to know me better? I think before you figure it out, you'll have to get pretty close to me..." He left the rest wide open for comment, or, more hopeful, action. He leaned in, lowering his eyes as if to either become really close and intimate with her ((does not mean what you think it does)) or as he tried to make it obvious, to kiss her. He knew he had no rights to since he lost, but he hoped she'd want to.

Cat didn't move right away as he got close, but instead just looked at him. "I'm taken Charles. I can't kiss you." it was a pretty blunt statement, but Cat wanted to make it clear.

Rick stopped right in the middle of what he was doing. He was upset. "Taken...I've never seen this other guy you speak of, yet you say you're taken." He sighed. "I thought you wanted to get to konw me...You should know, however, who you think you're with might not be who you want to be with...things change: People, feelings, all kinds of stuff." He leaned back again. He was still leaving that space open should she change her mind. "And does that also mean you had no intention of granting my reward had I won the race? I think I had the ability to at the least..."

"No I would of honored the agreement, however I had no intention of kissing you on the lips had you won." She rested her chin on her hand. "I can get to know you without kissing you, and I would think that I wouldn't kiss you until I get to know you. As for things changing, and your issue with not seeing Justyn, I explained why he wasn't here, that doesn't mean he's never around." she spoke calmly, not upset by what he had said.

"Well...It's hard for me to get too close to anyone. I don't easily trust anymore, after all the times in the past things have failed. I would take a kiss as a good token of seriousness. I think it's a pretty good exchange, right? If you're willing to kiss me, that tells me you're truly interested in getting to know me much better, or I could just leave it at saying it would tell me you're interested--that you like me."

"No...I often don't want much, so it's a wonder the things I do mean so much, if that's what you mean." He laid completely down, looking into the sky. "I just look to explain things once, leave on last chance for things to straighten out, or if it means it--leave a chance for someone to change their mind, then I just abandon it completely. I've rarely been granted the things I ask for, and even less, the things I want, so I guess I didn't expect much anyway." he turned on his side slightly, closing off the invitation. Now she'd definitely have to work for it, but it was apparent to him that she didn't want it.
