The Dread Pirate Ghosty Dude, I want that long sleeved bathing suit thingy.
I've seen all those girls, but I didn't realize they modeled for BODacious.
I've seen quite a bit of this model, TigerAngel:
Who is in BODacious' fourth issue, I believe.
Here's one of her posts in the PSW guild of SG... so it's more recent.
I think I recall in a discussion in the plus sized group on SG that she said the models in that magazine tend to have the hell airbrushed out of their photos.
I find that interesting for some reason.
Yay every magazine air brushes... mainly for quality.. and ya.. I have the magazine with her in it. =)

Every magazine airbrushes, yeah... but it's the amount of airbrushing that intrests me. Even fat models have to be airbrushed to get rid of the things commonly associated with fat girls.
That probably only makes sense to me as to why it's interesting, but I tend to prefer my photos barely airbrushed.

the airbrush thing doesnt really surprise me.
no one (speaking in the general public broad sense, even in a certain demographic theres a general public/consensus) wants to see imperfections in people they want to idolize as perfect. and perfect is different for anyone.
perfect for me is a tatted up, slightly periced, alt culture, short heighted, big girl.
perfect for my coworker is an incredibly athletic, really tall, party girl.

It doesn't surprise me that there's airbrushing, but it intrests me that there's a lot of it even for a magazine that showcases larger girls. I could see taking out a bit of the imperfections, that's understandable.
I mean, if somebody has an attraction to bigger girls, I would imagine most of them would understand and accept that there are going to be at least a few stretch marks.
So it's not really a surprise, I just think it's kinda sad confused
Like I said, though, I prefer when photos are airbrushed as little as possible... I don't mind taking acne out, but I like to see a few stretch marks 'cause I like to see photos of semi-real people. I mean, I like the look of airbrushed, I just think it's too heavily relied on...and is a major reason why girls have such horrible images of themselves, starve themselves and are generally never happy with themselves.
Obviously everybody's idea of perfect is going to be different, I don't doubt that, since some girls think perfectly brown skin and bleach blonde hair is attractive and I think it makes me want to vomit. I just have a wider sense of perfection because I see the beauty in everything... and therefore don't have a "this is perfect for me" I think Kiera Knightley is so beautiful, at least when she's not looking a little too skinny, but I also saw this bigger girl the other day who I couldn't stop staring at...and that's a first for me (to stare at anybody of any size, guy or girl)... I just like for people to look pretty on their own terms, other than the previously mentioned bleach blondes with the fake tans...because seriously, those clash with each other and are gross and should be stopped immediately. At least the ones who get their results out of a bottle talk2hand
I've actually seen a lot of people who do want to see a few imperfections. Although I suppose they'd be argued as a minority, although I suspect they really aren't.

I found this site today, I find it weird that I recognize more than one of the models from other sites...even though I never really paid attention to them >>;

I think it's just silly of the public in general to expect anyone in magazines, tv, media {etc.}, or not, to be perfect. Perfection is just unattainable. It's good to have an idea however, of what type of partner suits you. Like your description of you and your friend's ideal of perfection. I think perfect has too many meanings and connotations as well. I try and remove the word from my everyday use, or even use in general... The Dread Pirate Ghosty It doesn't surprise me that there's airbrushing, but it intrests me that there's a lot of it even for a magazine that showcases larger girls. I've actually seen a lot of people who do want to see a few imperfections. Although I suppose they'd be argued as a minority, although I suspect they really aren't. I personally prefer imperfections. I would rather see the real than the unreal. Some say "real women have curves", and there are magazines with such 'real women;, but the pictures don't show the other things that come with curves. You don't see women with a lot of rolls on or in magazines, or women with stretch marks, I haven't noticed cellulite either. I mean, everybody's body is different... But there is no way that without retouching a bigger girl- model or not- has no rolls, cellulite, and/or stretchmark. And if they do I suspect some surgery and serious body molding has taken place and therefor they still don't represent 'real women' who would be more natural. I do retouch photos occasionally that I take of myself, but that's to take out things like blemishes or uneven skin tone.

Yeah, I've taken out blemishes before and attempted to even out skintone... I recall once a girl with horrible acne posting in a plus-sized hot or not group on livejournal and getting rejected because her photos were seriously unflattering.
This was years ago...
But I remember an arguement between her and several other girls who suggested she photoshop out some of her blemishes as a start. She insisted that she couldn't do that because then she wouldn't be showing her "true self"
I laughed.
Everybody has blemishes, most people dislike them... but blemishes don't make you who you aren't... you don't even keep that same blemish for the rest of your life. My stretch marks are going to be with me for the rest of my life... the scar on my chin tells a story, my blemishes do not. I wouldn't mind editing out a few of my stretch marks for photos, and for certain media I agree most of it would need to be edited out...but I prefer being able to see the goosebumps, stretchmarks, cellulite and hairs on girls...this is the stuff you're going to see when you're up-close and personal with a real woman, and it's much more intimate. So long as they look healthy... body hair is natural, stretch marks are natural, cellulite is natural...my skinny friends have a little bit themselves.
Perfection is great and good, but unobtainable perfection should be questioned...people judge themselves based off images of people modified by a computer... men compare women to these images of women modified by a computer, they aren't real.
Because my personal cause is self-esteem of girls, I just think about things like this a lot, and find it sad.... and I'm not saying I'm immune. Personally I think my arms are hairy like a mans, the result of shaving my arms when I was a child and didn't know better, and have even been told that they are... I was so self-conscious about it growing up. I've had multiple people tell me to shave them, but I don't want to be stuck doing that for the rest of my life... I would look at the arms of other girls around me and envy them for having just the right amount, not too much but not being completely bald...since arm hair is natural. I'd see models on TV with no arm hair whatsoever and I thought I was a freak....and the likelyhood is most of those women either shaved, or the little bit of hair they did have was photoshopped out. I was shocked later to find some people find this attractive... and actually have read sources telling how in ancient times excess body hair was associated with sexuality... I'm still not in love with my arm hair, and sometimes I consider shaving it all off, but I talk myself out of it for fear of it growing back darker and even thicker... and because most people whose opinion I care about have told me they don't even notice it. But that's just my non-fat related example of the point I'm trying to make.
