Revanica

Revanica watched lazily and wet her lips a few times, while unconciously adjusting herself, invisible, astral-form tail included. It seemed that the fish-elf didn't want to join her as she watched him bat at the balloon. She half wanted to get one on impulse. What these strange events did to her! But all just the same.

Lifting herself again in an almost snakelike manner, Revanica ambled over towards the booth with the balloons and everything. She took a moment to look over everything, smirking towards herself in the crazy thought.: 'Would you happen to have these shirts in gargantuan?' It would have been a funny reaction to watch the person running the booth.

She settled on the size medium. Small would be nice but, well with the form that she chose, it rendered imposible to wear. She was a succubus and she had to look, well, she had to present her best physical wares. Revanica pushed back her hair a bit, mentally tinting it the tiniest bit more orangy and letting the magic do its thing slowly so as not to attract so much attention unless her head was under scrutiny.

"Hello," she greeted the workers in a throaty voice. She already whipped out her wallet.

Watching the informed other leave hastily, Namini smiled as she stepped forward in hopes of purchasing a balloon. Simultaneously an incredibly attractive woman with layered almost-strawberry blonde hair approached the counter, and Namini slowly felt herself sulking back to her original standing point. Watching the woman with a quiet nervousness, she stopped the twirling of her parasole and decided to wait a bit more before purchasing.

Moving her gaze from the suspicious woman to the other booths Namini burst into a simple, content grin as her eyes stopped themselves on a bed of beautiful yellow lilies. "What pretty flowers.." escaped her lips as she looked back at the merchandise line and then at the flower stand. Returning to her parasole game Namini drifted towards the brightly colored flowers, keeping a reminder to return to the balloons eventually. Looking around the flower stand blankly, her eyes noticed a pair of people?..one of them was clearly not a person though..somewhat bargaining. Hesitant about approaching the duo, Namini allowed herself to float among the flowers, gazing dreamily at each type. Lilies, pansies, daffodils, roses..They were all so pretty!

Pushing a curtain of hair from her shoulder, she wrinkled her nose and smiled mischievously as Alex turned and chatted with her. Setting her umbrella against the side of the stall, she welcomed Alex's embrace, wrapping her own arm around the Italian girl's waist.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be, though I'd much rather kick back and take it easy like everyone else," Natsuki confided, leaning her head on Alex's shoulder. Watching the crowd of people mill and swirl about the stalls, she gave a wistful smile. "It'll be nice to have a friendly face smiling up at me from the crowd. I am so worried that no one will bid."

Natsuki giggled with Alex. For some reason when the two of them got together, they simply carried on light high school girls, without all the drama. She looked at her friend with stormy gray eyes sparkling in the sunshine. "Got any confidence charms laying on this table of yours?" she asked, half-joking, but half-hoping as well. "I want today's big spender to be really cute," at which she giggled again, keeping someone particular in mind.

Alex rested her cheek on Natsuki's vibrant hair before looking at her with a wide grin. "You can't be serious to think no one will bid on you! You'll knock 'em dead." She gave her friend a gentle squeeze, making a mental note to make sure she was there when Natsuki took her turn to help the Lab. Sometimes she thought her friend was far too modest, or that she simply didn't see how amazing she really was. Alex felt that's what friends were for - to remind you of how remarkable you are.

"I just might," she replied jovially to Natsuki's question. "We've got quite a selection here darlin'," she spread her free hand towards the display, speaking in a mock-professional voice, "smiling suns and lucky rabbits! Or are you interested in a love knot?" Alex cast her friend a suspicious sideways glance, grinning all the while. Giving another short laugh and a shake of her head, she dropped her little act, adding, "There's wish dolls, too. Supposed to grant you your heart's desire." The young woman pointed towards the front of the table, before deciding to do herself one better.

She leaned over to the table without releasing Natsuki, carefully slipping the aforementioned charms over her slender fingers and holding them up to be viewed. The wish dolls were just big enough she couldn't hold them, so she nodded towards them before settling her gaze upon her friend's misty eyes. "I tell you what. You find one you like, and it's on me." Alex smiled warmly at the woman, lifting her charmed hand to brush her wild black bangs from her eyes. "It's the least I can do for you."

The summer heat might have lulled in face of such a perfectly pleasant afternoon, but Julian Sweet felt exceptionally overheated in his jet-black suit. Hidden in the graciously cool shadows one of the booths happily provided, he stood on the sidelines, avoiding any of the festival's visitors simply because he was not in the mood for public embarrassment. Lab related events were beginning to develop a complex within the young scientist. No matter what special occasion Dr. Kyou concocted, Julian always ended up either recruited as a volunteer for something totally unsuited to his talents, or he personified the term "wardrobe malfunction". The second anniversary of the Lab's opening was not an exception to the rule by any stretch of the imagination.

Self-consciously, Julian tugged on slim white gloves, shifting the fabric so that it lay loosely against the bandages that still clung heavily to the majority of his wrists and arms. The high temperature was causing the material to become brittle and uncomfortable; the gauze underneath was hardened to the point that it strongly resembled translucent concrete. A logical understatement would have been to say Julian was regretting his decision to have shown up, whether or not the good doctor had threatened him with some unforeseeable punishment should he ditch the proceedings entirely.

Raising a hand to his forehead to act as a makeshift visor, Julian blocked the glare of the sun as his gaze scanned the grounds in search of a certain figure. He sorely wished he had thought to stop her earlier that day at the apartment complex, but the concept had escaped him at Gage's insistence that he leave straight away. Supposedly, the Frei would be arriving later on, but why he felt the need to delay was anyone's guess. Julian had simply made sure his Raevan had some proper directions and knew how to contact the correct driving service should he want a ride rather than to float the whole way over.

He should have known while his timing was impeccable, his tenant was bound to arrive five minutes before the festival ended. Next time, he was just going to poison her water supply and be done with it.

Rivener sighed when a new customer appeared, cutting his one-sided conversation with Lazarus short. Then again, Laz might not have heard him at all yet; he was quite busy with the snacks. Turning to this newcomer (Josh!), Riv offered a forced smile.

"Sorry, what was your order again? I just get the drinks, if you wanna snack you have to get in line to talk to my neighbor here," he said, thumbing over at Laz. He'd almost said "talk to gorgeous", but he'd decided it would be best not to. He had only just recently made friends (at least he thought he made friends!) with Laz, he didn't want to ruin it already by going back to old habits.

"Well, in that case, I'll take the Lovers' Knot," Natsuki whispered as she examined the charms dangling from her friend's slim fingers. Taking out a small change purse, she placed some spare coins on the table. "I'll take a pair of wish dolls. One for the cafe and another for its new assistant manager, Shuura."

Feeling the heat soak into her black dress, Natsuki plucked up her parasol after returning her change purse to her small bag. She felt a little silly, but recently she'd felt weaker and rather fragile. Perhaps she was working too hard for once, and that's why she welcomed the invite to close up shop for the day and enjoy time with her friends.

"Speaking of guys," Natsuki giggled, motioning to the crowd with an elegant opera gloved arm, "Any cuties out there today?"

Aphismet, sitting comfortably at his booth, was happily glancing around at all the visitors, noting those he knew and those he'd never met... the Lab was quite popular! There were people everywhere! Many more than at the Valentine's Party, even! How exciting!

As he was looking through the grounds, Aph spotted a pristine white glove in the shadow of a booth. He blinked, wondering who might be dressed so warmly on such a warm day. Squinting, covering his eyes with a hand much as Julian himself was doing, Aph finally recognized the man.

Feeling oddly brave today, Aphismet smiled and left his booth, walking over to the shadow, bringing over one of the iced water bottles he'd been keeping under his booth counter in a cooler.

"Julian?" he said, a tad shyly but without stuttering. "It is you! Erm, why are you dressed to the nines? You must be really warm... would you like this bottle of water?" He proffered the bottle in question. "It's cold," he explained helpfully, as though the condensation on the plastic surface wouldn't be a dead giveaway.

Alex arched a slender brow, but did not ask the obvious question. Instead, she slipped off a lovely little intricate charm from her pinky, handing it to Natsuki. She almost protested the change purse, but thankfully kept her mouth closed until her friend had placed her order. With a quiet chuckle, she released Natsuki to lean under the booth, picking up two small, sealed boxes that she handed to the grey-eyed damsel. "I see! They would be good to have around work...perhaps I should invest in one," she mused to herself, glancing towards Lorenzo, who was watching her and Natsuki from beneath the shade of his tree.

"Cuties?" The word echoed strangely from her lips. Natsuki was asking HER if there were any cute guys? Alex uttered a quiet snort that dissolved into a small giggle, turning her eyes carefully over the gathered. "Seems to be a bit underaged crowd so far. I--oh! There's the always sweet Aphismet, such a darling...who is that at the booth? Oh dear, that's a Raevan?" The woman blinked, having the grace to look a little embarrassed at counting Lazarus in her sweep. "...but I don't really know any of these...ah, there's a handsome fellow." The Italian nodded in the direction of a man wearing a suit, seeming to be apart from the festivities. At least THAT was a human she was sure of.

Tilting her head towards Natsuki, Alex offered a wide grin. "Any of them are yours for the taking, no doubt. Are you looking for, ah," she reached out to tap the love charm, "-one in particular?"

From her daze Niksia flicked her head up, hearing something about snacks and the speaker's neighbor. Confused, she ended up looking at the recently expanded Lazarus... It took a long blink to take in: the hair, the horns, the boned wings. Luckily she blinked fast enough to not look much lower, her sanity and blood pressure were both safe for the time being.

Only disbelief stopped her from saying what she was thinking at that moment: That is a very big Raevan.

Glancing toward his black and red counterpart, smiling in her typically distracted manner and completely unaware of the balloon she so recently bought, she decided safer was relative but good.

'I'll just stick with the lemonade, to be honest. When you've got a moment, that is.' Niksia lingered quietly to one side of the stall, examining the shirt in her bag before snagging out her purse.

Shuura

PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 4:05 pm

An extremely black figure trudged unenthusiastically across the fairgrounds in search for the booth she was supposed to be at. Decked from head to toe in black and a sizable bottle of sunscreen in one hand, the figure peered closely at the booths. Wtf where the hell i the friggin date booth?! A scowl darkened her features, but was blocked from public view by an umbrella the color of death. Beneath the umbrella could be seen a stylish black peacoat, under which white stockings peered out and disappeared into patent black Mary Janes. Although the long coat obscured most of the figure's outfit, a hint of a white taffeta petticoat peeked out just beneath the bottom of the peacoat, suggesting what might be a short, slightly poofy skirt underneath.

...It might have seemed like an extremely hot ensemble, but Shuura was of the curious type who would rather stay hot under protective layers rather than get burned by the sun.

A hint of rose-colored hair appeared momentarily behind the black umbrella, and the item was lowered momentarily to reveal a floating half-figure of crimson and ebony who had been completely hidden behind Shuura. "If you don't. Put on. the sunscreen, Vyn. You are going to get a horrible sunburn even if you stay in the shade all day." The scowl was now directed at Vyn, who was floating directly behind her and sharing the umbrella, so that unless someone was directly behind them the delicate Rose Raevan was hidden from view.

A firm shake, and rosen-tresses tossed about gently on the Frei's fair shoulders. The thick white goo Shuura had offered her earlier was sticky and smelled displeasing. Vyn didn't like it at all. "Do not want. It is unpleasing." Her amber-sclera eyes glowered with distaste as she declined Shuura's offer, earning a snort from her guardian.

"Suit yourself. It's your funeral," Shuura drawled sardonically at Vyn's stupidity.

Oh well. It wasn't like looking out for Vyn's well being was the purpose of her being here, anyway. She had somehow gotten herself in the situation of being one of the targets for the so-called "date auction" for the Lab's festival, but surprisingly didn't mind it much. After all, nobody said she couldn't have a share in the earnings. She'd give a portion of the proceeds to the lab alright, but the rest was fair game. A dry chuckle escaped her mouth at this, for the ultimate plan had already succeeded; Julian had been dragged into this whole ordeal as well. And he had to dress as a butler. She had to bite down hard on her lower lip to prevent herself from laughing out too loudly--for her own part, she only had to slip into her work uniform (she suspected that Natsuki might have had something to do with the theme--she'd have to thank her later).

Jules. Her uptight, impossible bore of a landlord. In a butler suit. And forced to answer to other people's whims. Oh but she would KILL to see that. At least she was perfectly fine with doing this thing for the sake of the money; Jules, on the other hand, was rich off his a** and additional money would be of no interest to him. Scanning around, Shuura finally gave up on trying to find the goddamn booth, figuring that since she was more than half an hour late already they'd come looking for her eventually. In the meantime, she decided it would be easier to just look for Natsuki instead. No doubt the woman would be in another of her crazy get-ups.

"Yes, actually, I am, but I am worried as I haven't seen him in ages," Natsuki confided, giving a light shrug, and trying not to think negative thoughts. "But if the world is my oyster like you say it is, perhps the right guy is out there right now, and I don't even know it."

Taking a look at Lazarus, she sighed dreamily. Yes, the older raevan had fantastic abs, but she thought of the raevan she would soon be responsible for. The anticipation killed her, but she knew that raevans simply weren't born over night. Her patience would pay off in the end. She simply knew it.

"Whoa, that guy is quite handsome, and he looks," Natsuki said, feeling her voice trail off as her heart skipped a beat. "So familiar..."

Julian barely noticed the man approaching him until he was approximately three feet from his current position, tucked away against the side of one of the many structures setup for the festival. After acknowledging the new presence and pausing for all of a moment, he dropped his shielding hand and simply stared expectantly until Aphismet went and surprised him by offering a dazzlingly tempting bottle of water. The last time Julian had spoken to the other guardian, he had been nothing short of entirely unkind; there had been no reservations on his feelings concerning Aphismet's multiple inadequacies. Subsequently, the student had surmised that he would most likely never speak with Rivener's owner again, and not even once had he thought that perhaps Aphismet would attain the ability to adjust to Julian's less than appealing personality and notice he was close to passing out from his oppressive state of dress.

Numbly, the scientist reached out a hand to accept the bottle with a dimly grateful nod of his head. With unnecessary care he unscrewed the cap and controlled himself by only taking a small drink rather than the gulp he had originally had in mind.

Something of a smile twitched at his lips when he finished the initial sample. "Thank you. You do know you're wearing an apron, correct?"

He noticed Shuura's entrance instantaneously, but wisely chose not to pursue his murderous intentions at that very instant.

Rivener, assaulted by another request, frowned at the red-haired lady. "Comin' right up," he muttered. At least he'd heard HER request, unlike the boy's.

Floating lower, Rivener "bent" and picked up a handful of ice, dropping it into a glass and filling it with lemonade. He then lifted himself up and offered the drink with a smile, reminding himself that this was for the Lab, and he had to be personable.

"Lemonade with ice, one dollar." He extended a clawed hand, motioning in the international language of Hand-It-Over, all with a friendly smile on his face.

Aphismet smiled as the bottle was taken, and outright laughed at the comment about his apron. He glanced down and tugged at the side of the yellow fabric. "Yes, Yes I know. I'm judging a food contest later, so I thought I'd dress the part. To get people in the mood." He grinned.

Wringing his hands, he decided he'd best get to it. It was slightly embarassing but he wanted to get it off his chest. "So listen, I wanted to thank you. That time I visited you, for advice... Well, you weren't very kind, but you were honest. And the stuff you said was true. So, well, you're partly responsible for me turning my life around, so I wanted to say thanks." He breathed deeply, feeling much better now that he'd said it.

Natsuki earned another raised eyebrow in question. "I suppose he's involved with the Lab if he's here, especially in that outfit." Alex looked back towards the man in the tuxedo; he wore it quite well. She curled her arm through Natsuki's so that the woman could continue to hold her parasol, giving her another friendly squeeze. "I'm in no position to give advice," she said with a touch more seriousness than she had intended, "but stop looking. He'll find you."

Whether she was referring to the sharp dressed man or the masses of men in general, she'd not specify. Instead, in all her wisdom, Alex intoned, "There's more to life than guys anyway." She couldn't help but crinkle her nose at thinking about men all the time. Being as socially inept as she was, the mere thought of dating or otherwise looking out for guys was simply absurd. Natsuki, on the other hand, was more understandable, as she knew the woman was both beautiful and talented. The man she mentioned was a lucky one, but somewhat dense if he left the woman to herself.
