The most logical way for the SeeD to arrive in Deling under such an attack would have been an air drop to the top of the Caraway Arch. Thank gods for new technology was all that James could really think of. He arrived at the Arch and climbed the latter as quickly as he could, hoping to see the SeeD arrive.

Praise the Headmaster of Balamb Garden, for his SeeD arrived almost as quickly as they had been called for. The squad was small, only twenty five men and women, but they were talented enough. Several were hand to hand fighters, three fought with gunblades, and the rest fought with weapons ranging from spears to Nunchuku.

Two of the SeeD that landed approached James, looking to him for orders. They were the commanding officers of the squad, it seemed, and they also recognized him. That was going to be a great help, seeing as he didn't have to go through formalities.

"Alright," James spoke loud enough that even through the commotion everyone would be able to hear, "I'm splitting us up. I want the Gunblade Team to head in the direction of the docks. The three of you should easily be able to hold off any enemies coming in from there. If you need help, send out a Comm Link to either of your commanding officers and they will do their best to supply it. Five of the Hand-to-Hand specialists, I want you to go to the back alley of the Galbadian Hotel and climb the Fire Escape. The enemy soldiers there won't expect to have their own tactics used against them. I want ten of you, I don't care who but I suggest you mix your weapons for the highest efficiency, to go to the shopping district eradicate the enemy. Move on from there to the Residential District, the Park, and the Caraway Mansion. The rest of you should help evacuate the city. For the SeeD, for the people!"

"Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!" The squad of SeeD replied before splitting up and making their way to their various locations. It wouldn't take long for the Galbadian Army to be removed from the area, and then life could slowly try to restore itself in Deling.

Rainer bit back a retort and slowly made her way toward the door. Just as Mimi mentioned Balamb Garden, Rainer despaired. The Galbadian soldiers pricked up their ears in interest, a few talking into radios about a new discovery: Balamb Garden, and possibly others, were involved in their conflict!
Grimacing, Rainer cast a Fire spell and leapt out of the window and shoved her way through a crowd toward Mimi. The car, armored, was undamaged.
Finally, Rainer thought tiredly, Transportation of the era!
Rainer waited several feet away from Mimi, anxiously craning her neck to try and find Beatriz and Isaac.

Before Isaac would leave he destroyed the radios with several well placed knives. Whether Beatriz liked it or not he grabbed her arm and ran out the doors with her. "Time to go," he whispered to her as he ran. Approaching them, he said, "We're good, whenever you're ready!"

Beatriz was glad that her superior the headmaster gave her doesn't seemed to dislike her and let out a relief sigh. She was about to asked what the mission entails when they heard an explosion. Two new persons approached them James told them that their superior is Mimi Ara?I've got two superiors? she thought. She frozed when she saw the Galbadian soldiers and almost whacked her head for spacing out. She was about to do something when Isaac grabbed her arm and practically dragged her out "thanks" was all she was able to say. She saw Rainer and waved at her.

Rainer breathed in relief as Isaac emerged dragging Beatriz with him. Although Isaac had destroyed the radios, the information may have gotten to the Galbadians.
Crap...
Turning to Mimi, Rainer grimaced.
"Okay, so what's going on? Where's the Garden? Who are you again? Don't you think we should go?"
Rainer noticed movement from inside. Swinging her blade up, she aimed and squeezed off a few shots, grimly smiling as five soldiers dropped like flies.
Down the street, Galbadian cars and soldiers approached, not yet noticing the SeeD members. There seemed to be an endless line, even as several soldiers turned into stores and started shooting the windows.

Mimi caught the grimace on Rainer's face and inwardly sighed. Checking that everyone was there, Mimi climbed into the vehicle. "Get in and I'll talk while I drive." Without waiting for them, she jumped into the driver's seat, her blade taking up the passenger seat beside her. Glancing down at the controls in front of her, Mimi pressed one of the buttons and slowly the door to the side of the transport vehicle closed, releasing a whoosh of air. Looking back, she made sure that everybody had made it in before starting the ignition.

As she began to pull through the streets, Mimi was glad that they hadn't put any SeeD insignia on the vehicle. Without glancing back, she turned on the speaker to the passenger compartment so that she wouldn't have to shout. "I'll answer your third question first. My name's Mimi." With a pause, she sighed and gave them her full name. "Mimi Leonheart. Feel free not to repeat that, by the way. I work as a SeeD member at garden, if you haven't figured that out already. Sorry I don't have the clothes to prove it at the moment."

"The Garden is currently on the outskirts of the plains north of here. It's about a half-hour drive, but considering the circumstances, it might not take as long. If we follow the shoreline of the beach, we should get there in no time."

She paused as Galbadians tried to stop the vehicle. With a sigh of annoyance, she shifted the gears and pulled a handle next to her. There was a snap as the barrel of a gun appeared on the front of the vehicle. Grabbing the handle, she pulled down a visor from above and took aim with the sights set into the visor. Without hesitation, she fired, taking out a Galbadian vehicle's tires and clearing a way for them.

Pushing the visor back up and slipping the handle back into position, Mimi continued. "Even I don't have the full information on what's going on at the moment. All I know is that Galbadia and it's government is forming another military unit. One much like the one that formed sixty years ago, before the release of Ultimecia and her defeat. The Headmaster of Balamb Garden wants you all there immediately, so that he can brief us. Apparently, there's a mission for us, and it doesn't sound easy from the looks of it. Not to mention, Galbadia has already targeted all Gardens. We're under hightened alert at the moment, if you couldn't tell."

With a grumble, the vehicle pulled to the gates of Deling, and with a rather rough motion, Mimi spun the transport around so that it's front window faced the street of Deling, where hopefully James would appear any minute now. As she leaned back in her chair, she sighed. Thank Shiva they were in a bulletproof vehicle. Standing up, she turned off the speakers and faced the back and the others. "Any questions?"

It didn't take long for the SeeD Unit to split up and take back the city. There was only twenty five of them, yes, but they were some of the more skilled from Balamb. The Headmaster had chosen them well enough.

The Gun Blade squad made it to their location just minutes after their orders were given. The docks were swarming with Galbadian Soldiers, the soldiers scattered about trying to secure the area. The enemy got quite the shock to their system when the three Gun Blade users leaped into the fray and decimated several of them in just a couple of minutes. From there, they approached the ships that were housing the soldiers and moved inside. The Gun Blades fired off constantly, and quickly the three ships were taken. From there, with the enemy dispatched, that squad moved back into the city and began to help with the evacuation.

The Hand-to-Hand squad quickly climbed the Fire Escape behind the hotel. One man entered at each of the top five floors and cleared out the soldiers in their respective areas. James was right in saying that the enemy wouldn't expect their own tactics against them. So, it was really easy to clear out the enemy. From there, that small group made their way into the city to take care of the evacuation and aid in the shopping district.

The shopping district group, although they had the largest area, somehow managed to work the fastest. They split up and covered the area as quickly as they possibly could. Overall, it took only a short time to clear the Galbadians out of Deling.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Three knocks sounded on the side panel of the car that Rainer, Isaac, Beatriz, and Mimi resided in. It was James, having made it to the city gates quite literally seconds before the car pulled up. Three more knocks sounded on the side panel, and then he waited for it to open. There wasn't a point in continuing to knock.

Rainer frowned as she listened to Mimi. Another mission? From Balamb? Shrugging, she watched as Mimi expertly shot down several Soldiers and their vehicles. The new mission didn't bother Rainer; she had to go to Balamb anyway, and another mission meant not having to go back to Esthar Garden. For the moment.
Rainer jumped out of fright when knocks sounded on the door. Looking out the window, she saw it was James.
Rainer breathed a sigh of relief and reached over and opened the door, pulling James in and slamming the door shut. Rainer shook him and snapped,
"Where were you? You shouldn't go running off like that! People get worried you know!" Rainer glared at him ineffectually and sat back, letting out a loud huff.

Hearing the knocks, Mimi looked towards the door. As Rainer opened it and in entered James, she nodded a hello before turning towards the others. Hearing Rainer's worry, a slight smile crossed her lips before she threw it away. "If you guys want anymore explained, I'm sure the Headmaster can clarify what I've already told you. For now, it might be best if we get going, just in case. The other SeeD members that were sent here should be able to take care of everything."

She waited for their approval to leave. Even though her composure was calm and she seemed to have a one-track mind at the moment, worry knawed at her. Why were the Galbadians on the move again. And why attack Deling? It was such a small town, barely a threat to anybody. Unless they wanted to get to Balamb of course? But no . . . Balamb was safe. Mimi was sure of that. They hadn't even dispatched a quarter of the SeeD units. And there were certainly more than enough people to defend Balamb that were close to home. With a sigh, she kept these thoughts to herself. Something was adrift, and hopefully Cid would be able to enlighten her.

Beatriz opened her mouth but no words are coming out. She listened to what Mimi had explained to them. She wanted to ask for more questions but Rainier already asked Mimi all the things she wanted to ask. Another mission and if the headmaster will be the one to explain to us everything it must be a very complicated and dangerous mission she thought to herself as she looked outside.

"Rainer, you need to clam down." James replied, waving a hand signal to Mimi to tell her to get the hell out of Deling, "I'm a class A SeeD in the area. I know what needs to be done; I have the combat experience. Therefore, it was my responsibility to travel to the SeeD drop point and give them orders."

James pushed her aside and sat down, something he hadn't had the pleasure of doing in a couple of hours it felt like. There had been so much to do in such a little time: He had to run to the arch to give orders; he had to run to the docks to make sure everything went well in that area; he had to make it back to the hotel; finally he eventually had to meet up with them at the city gates. If it weren't for several castings of the Haste Spell, that wouldn't have all been possible.

"Rainer..." James slumped down in his seat, "...You will one day learn what it's like to be the superior in a group. You hold a lot more responsibility than you realize. Now Mimi...get us out of here. We need to see the Balamb Headmaster."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 21, 2007 5:02 am

Remiel sat back in her seat, arms folded, looking out the window. Deling was receding quickly, and for that Rainer was thankful. Stubbornly, she ignored James. She was acting like a child and she knew it, but... Well, she wasn't mad at James per se, but he put her under a strangers command when he knew very well she hated that.
Slowly, Rainer's anger subsided. She wasn't being fair. Her feelings didn't matter when it came to the mission; James was doing what he was trained to do: Keep people safe. He was just doing his best.
Rainer's mouth twisted slightly. She knew what was next: an apology. Those were the worst. The word 'Sorry' never came easily to Rainer's mouth.
Grimacing, Rainer mumbled, "Sorry James. I shouldn't... have snapped at you like that." A faint blush rose against her cheeks, though she quickly forced it away.

Mimi nodded as James told her to get going. Slipping into the driver's seat, she steered the vehicle away from the now controlled destruction that had plagued Deling. She sat in silence for a while, listening to the others. She was certain that some of them were probably stunned. With a sigh, she took the vehicle off the designated road and began following the shoreline. Dimly, the waves could be heard from outside.

Finally, with a regal elegance, the lights from the rings of Balamb Garden appeared over a rise and Mimi was filled with the utter sense of coming home. Pushing down the nostalgic feeling, she pulled into the garage of Balamb Garden, only taking a moment to take in it's beauty.

The transport came to a stop and Mimi shut the garage with a button on the console. Standing up, she pulled out the key and turned to the others. "You guys ready? I suspect the headmaster will want to see you all first, but . . . I can get rooms situated for all of you. And food and water sent to those rooms if it's needed."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 21, 2007 7:52 pm

James ignored Rainer's apology as he normally did. He never returned an apology, of course. It wasn't something he was good at, nor something he enjoyed. Rainer knew that, so he figured that she wouldn't take it personally.

"I would like to meet with the Headmaster before anyone." James interjected before any of the others could do so, "I'm used to combat; I can handle the strain. So if you could prepare rooms for everyone, I'll speak with the Headmaster. Rainer, Isaac, and Beatriz will of course wait outside the office."

James pulled himself out of his seat slowly, not really wanting to move but did so because he knew he had to. He made it to the side panel first and opened it, taking in the garage. He stepped into the garage, stopping there to wait for the others.

||Okay guys... Time for a little plot twister... twisted Sorry for the long post!||
Sighing silently, Rainer stepped out of the vehicle and stood several paces away from James, taking in the sight of the garage. It wasn't fancy, unlike back home. A stray strand of hair drifted into Rainer's face. Irritated, Rainer noticed that her hair was still loose; she quickly pulled it into a bun and stood where she was, fingering her gunblade handle.
Briefly, a memory flashed in her mind.
The Headmaster of Esthar Garden sat at his desk before her, regarding her with cold, unforgiving eyes.
"This other mission, Miss de Weistrasse, is of the upmost importance and secrecy. I can not give you a file for it, because there is no telling who may find it." He waved an impatient hand at her as she opened her mouth.
"Don't speak. All that needs to be done here is me telling you the mission, you asking necessary questions, and you leaving to fulfill the mission, even if it leads to your death."
Here, the headmaster stood and started to pace, refusing to answer Rainer's confused gaze.
"I know I pulled you and Armine in here earlier to talk about your mission to Balamb Garden. The message to be delivered is -- well, you should know it by now. But there's... something else I need you to do."
Finally, the headmaster stopped, piercing Rainer's green eyes with his own cold ones. This headmaster was fierce and to be feared; he was different from usual, when he looked like an old man ready to retire.
"Now, I am going to tell you classified information that only a select few of Rank A SeeDs are privy to." His mouth widened into a humorless smile as he noted Rainer's surprised face.
"Yes, Miss de Weistrasse. If you can complete this mission, then you will be immediately granted to Rank A." His eyes hardened and his smile dropped. "But if you should fail... well, that is not important at the moment."
Shrugging, the headmaster sat down in his chair, fingers entwined, and leaning forward.
"Rainer, Esthar Garden is now in league with the Galbadian Army." He paused, letting the information sink into Rainer's confused mind. "We signed a treaty with them merely hours ago, and in doing so we have committed ourselves to help further the Galbadian cause. Your mission, Miss de Weistrasse, is to assassinate the Balamb Garden headmaster, and any SeeDs who try to stop you. Even your beloved James."
Rainer abruptly stood, upsetting her chair. She spoke clearly, though the headmaster gave her a warning glare.
"Headmaster, I cannot do this. You cannot expect me to betray the Gardens, and my friend." Rainer shook her head. "Not even to be Rank A."
The headmaster stood as well.
"But Rainer, you don't have a choice. Here, look." The headmaster waved his hand toward a dark, shadowy corner of the office. The air in the corner seemed to shimmer and boil. To Rainer's great surprise, a woman stepped from the corner. Her eyes were gold, and her face ivory. Her black hair was pulled into a braided bun. She wore a long black gown. Instinctively, Rainer moved into a defensive stance and reached for her gunblade. Her hand met empty air as Rainer fearfully remembered she had left it in her dorm room.
The woman, a sorceress as Rainer immediately knew, smiled kindly and glided forward toward Rainer. Though Rainer tried to resist, her body was pulled forward by some powerful force. Rainer's gaze was riveted by the Sorceress' golden eyes. Although Rainer tried her hardest, she couldn't pull her gaze away. Eventually, Rainer succumbed and blacked out.
Upon awakening, Rainer's mind was ingrained with three words:
Kill Balamb's Headmaster.

Now, standing in Balamb's Garage, Rainer's fingers fiddled at the gunblade, knew the time was near. To avoid suspicion, though, Rainer would have to let James have his way. There would be time for the headmaster later. Guilt for James stabbed at Rainer's conscience, but the power of the Sorceress quickly smothered it.
Making a show of yawning, Rainer stretched and said impatiently,
"Can we get to our rooms now?"
