The fake Kaosu look-a-like is hit directly in the throat but gets up staring at Tsai with blank eyes. It gave a eerie feeling staring at an almost exact replica of his best friend. It was bloody as well but it didn't send much fear into Tsai.

Kaosu grabbed onto the zampakuto and pulled it out of it's throat. It then with it's right hand swung down it's zampakuto downwards towards the shoulder blade of Tsai.

Kaosu was frantically scaling the cliff face. Sure, he was wasting far too much energy, but he didn't care. Tsai was so far up, and Kaosu had only managed to stare at the rock in front of him. It was time to make up for that.

This is for all my losses. Kaosu told himself, each movement of his limbs in time with seconds. This is for all my stupid, pathetic failures. He was trying to rally himself. This is for myself! He managed to shallowly hit the rock with his sword, and it glanced off, disrupting his flow. He stopped, regaining his inertia. His limbs were quivering, and he was only about a three stories off the ground. AGH! You...can...WILL do this!

Tsai turned his body to the side letting the blade of the attack fall before him. This was now a perfect spot for Tsai to counterattack. The feeling of suddenly being able to defeat Kaosu was weird. Never has Tsai even been able to defeat Kaosu but now it was so easy. Was it because of his training on Sokyoku?

Tsai raised his zampakuto with his right hand and swung his zampakuto horizontally aiming at the torso of the Kaosu look-a-like.

Kaosu's breathing was ragged now, climbing about another story of the so-much-higher cliff. By now, good gripholds had begun running out, so he was taking longer, expending more energy as he had to make his own by digging it out with his zanpaku-to. The going was slow, and the strain was becoming worse.

The burning was spreading even to his neck as he had to keep craning upwards to find his next hold, if there even was one. C'mon, show me that determination, Kaosu. That kind of crazy goal-searching that makes you fight teachers...keep going. Keep going.

The Kaosu look-a-like tried to move back but it wasn't quick enough and was decapitated near the torso. There was no fountain of blood however. As soon as Tsai's zampakuto went straight through, the body seemed to have disappear like when you destroy a hollow.

Kaosu's breathing was getting shallower, now clearing two more stories of the Sokyoku hill. He went in for another hook with his zanpaku-to, when a stray rock met his fist instead. He scraped it horribly, sending a streak of blood to cover it. He grimaced, trying to ignore it as he moved higher. However, the pressure he was putting on it only intensified the throbbing. It was impossible to ignore it.

You've been through worse. Kaosu tried explaining to himself. So much worse. Finally, there was a deep crevice he entered. From there he noticed natural curves in the rock. It was an easy section, but for how long?

By now, his limbs were shaking uncontrollably; almost as if they were going through a washer. Stop shaking and keep moving. You're almost there. Kaosu promised himself, searching another hold.

Tsai watched as the Kaosu look-a-like vanished before him like a hollow would after it died. "Was that all Mister Zampakuto-san?" Tsai asked the environment began to change again.

The place was also very familiar. It was the place Tsai and his classmates fought off a small hollow raid on a village. "So my next opponent is..him.." he smiled. He wanted to get revenge for the people who died that day. The very hollow that had first given him a reason to become stronger.

Two-faced.

Kaosu stopped a little more than a story further. He was panting, sweat rolling down his face almost like a waterfall. Oh...wow...thought it would be easier.

Then, he thought of Ugu, all the scars the man had. All that he must have went through to get them all. He looked at the blood covering his hand; the wound barely beginning to coagulate. That was his inspiration, at least for a while.

Okay, get a rhythm going. One...two...three...four!

The rhythm failed. Miserably. It was like trying to count completely at random, with abandon. His right hand and left leg were so much faster than his left hand and right leg. It was odd, and hard to count. His legs began to feel like lead, and his arms not too far behind. His toes were beginning to become numb from the small holds they had to deal with. His fingers, not fairing any worse.

Ugu...just friggin' remember Ugu. All those friggin' scars. ALL THOSE FRIGGIN' SCARS!" He couldn't speak. All his energy was conserved to breathing and climbing.

Kaosu could practically FEEL the energy leaving his body with every movement he made. The fatigue was setting in. It was obviously more than he could take physically. Mentally however, he was still pushing on. To my limit.

He was pushing himself so hard that tears were rolling from the pain of exertion alone. No...can't depend on Ugu. Myself. Depend on myself. I am...I am my own man...I can DO THIS!

A single man, in noble robes, watched the poor boy's attempts with a mild curiosity. It wasn't common at all to see someone trying to scale something so large. A student no less. His attention was first sparked by the first boy, and decided to come watch the second. It was free entertainment.

Kaosu's body had finally transcended that pain. It was so numb he couldn't feel anything anymore. His mind was blank, the only thought was to keep climbing. And he did so, foot by agonizingly slow foot. He would never make it to the top. He himself knew that. He just...had to go as far as possible. He watched a medium-sized rock fall from where he grabbed, and turned to look at it fall. He then noticed the faint profile of a person, so far below.

So far...down. He quickly turned, trying to not look down again. He craned his sore neck upwards once again as he went for another hold.

The man laughed. It appeared, though he was high up, that the boy was afraid of heights. Or crowds. It dawned on him the boy probably wasn't a noble. It figured that a boy of his calibur would be doing something so stupid, so reckless. But, the man couldn't bring himself to look away. It was intriguing.

Kaosu sighed. I give up. He was about to start going down, when he stopped. He couldn't tell what it was, but something inside of him was telling him to keep going. He knew it wasn't himself, but he couldn't think of anything else that would be telling him to do something like this. It was like a deep inner urge.

He listened to that urge, starting his upward trek. Then, he noticed it. It wasn't great, but the rock was beginning to curve. He knew himself he couldn't make it to the curve like that. He'd try, but he knew he couldn't.

He had ordered a chair brought to him, so he could sit and watch such a funny affair. What could bring a boy to climb something with such abandon? He caught himself asking. And how does he expect to climb upside down? He took a sip of crisp water, wondering how the spectacle even came into being.

Kaosu was about to take another step up, when it gave way. His whole body gave way. It had reached it's limit, finally. He managed to grab his zanpaku-to as he fell, flailing wildly into the air. The wind seemed to sting his whole body as he continued the rapid descent.

On instinct, he dug his weapon into the rock in an attempt to slow himself down. It kept bouncing off the surface, not taking hold; the friction was worthless. Then, Kaosu's body hit the first of many ridges. It slowed him down greatly, but at the too high price of his back. He roared in pain, slowly rolling off and back down into the empty air.

The man was shocked, to say the least. He immediately threw his glass away, shattering against the clean tiles underfoot. He jumped out of his sitting position with a crazed furvor, running closer to the mountain. He didn't know why he was doing it, but he wanted to save the boy's life. There would be no death in his presence.
