In order to hunt down the location of the JKR quote mentioned above (because I was too stupid to remember it was on her website, the most obvious place to look,) I was checking a HP quote archive. Taken directly from their quote archive: Quote: There will be a new DADA teacher in Book 7. Something will stop Snape from teaching DADA in the next book. ... NO s**t?! Who cares about the next DADA teacher? Harry already said he wasn't going back for his 7th year, am I the only one who feels cheated? gonk
On one hand, it's a children's book. Harry might live simply because of that fact.
On the other, the British aren't shy about not having "happily ever after" endings for their fairytale type stories.
If it's the later, it might just be a foreshadowing of Harry's acceptance that he's going to die killing Voldemort. Thus... going for his N.E.W.T's isn't that important anymore. But if Hermione and Ron go with him, are they also going to die?
*sigh* I could just be reading too damn much into this. But really... what does everyone else think? Is Harry going to die in the final installment?
If it were any other author, I might think differently. confused

Little Indigo I'm thinking because it's J.K. Rowling writing this, the battle will last about 5 chapters, have some random story interupt the middle, battle resume for 2 more chapters, and finally Voldy-pants and Harry kill each other, like a double K.O. Ginny's so upset, she becomes an emo kid, and Ron and Hermione mope for a couple of minutes, then run off and get married... on top of Harry's grave.
If it were any other author, I might think differently. confused
