I suggest You try out Those Half-Plastic reeds >w< There reed covered in Black sparkley Plastic.
It's alot easier to play if you use them when playing Low Woodwinds, Like me.
No Bamboo-ish taste, and they don't need to be weted!
Only downside is for Bass Clairenet there hard to find so I play Alto Plastic-Reeds on Bass. So Its sounds kinda funny.

Hi everyone!
I play oboe. And I've used Jones reeds since I started playing, but when they took them off the shelves of my local music store, I switched to La Voz, which aren't that bad.

Are La Voz reeds hand-made? I've been told to buy hand-made reeds to play on, but I don't know where to get them.
ANd then I found a web site called The Charles Double Reed Company... that say that their reeds are handmade. Does anyone buy reeds from there? How are they?

Lets see here, On tenor sax, I've been playing on 3 1/2 Vandoren V-16s and ZZs. On Bass clarinet I've been using vandoren 3 1/2s sometimes 4s, on clarinet, I've been using vandoren 4s or Mitchell Lurie 4s. Bari sax I've been stickin to vandoren 3 1/2s

Personally I like the taste of the reeds. Call me crazy lol lol...
Then again I'm on my 10th year of playing, so might be why.

I have not played the clarinet in years. sad However, I do remember starting with Rico's, and eventually converting over to Vandoren 3.5's. In high school, the teacher gave me some free reeds, which I thought were pretty cool since they tasted like cinnamon. whee They were called Flavoreeds, go figure. I don't remember them being too bad to play with either.

The Curly Wonder
I play Vandoren V-12 reeds strength 3 1/2, but I'm thinking of switching to Mitchell Lurie reeds because I've heard good things about them.

I have 2 Vandoren V-12 reeds strength 4 1/2 and then I just got a Mitchell Lurie to try it out and they sound WAY better!

I play a reed instrument. I don't really mind it that much, but your lips become very dry in the first year. That's the only thing I didn't like.

Also, one time when we were performing for the non-band students in our class, I was wetting my reed, and I did something with my arm that made me bump my reed and it got stuck to the roof of my mouth. I actually broke a piece of the end off and I had to get a new reed (plus I had to get the bit in my mouth out)

I play on a size 3 reed (clarinet). Sometime I want to get a flavored reed but I'll have to special order it through my BD (there aren't any music stores in my town).Does anyone know if those are even any good?

Medium hard?! Oh, wait, you're not in high school yet. It's a common mistake for beginners to use really hard reeds, which kill tone better than ninjas. I did it in Junior High too. I'm a junior now and I use a medium-soft. Best reeds (in my opinion) are as follows.
Machine-made: Emerald. I highly reccomend it. Get a medium.
Hand-made: order from hodgeproductsinc.com. Get a medium-soft, because anything harder than a medium is only half finished.
Some other playing tips: for a tighter embouchure, squeeze the reed horizontally instead of vertically to get a more open, fuller sound. Squeezing your reed shut will give the oboe a pinched sound.
