I gently close the book and turn in the chair to face the shadow of a man.
"Well then will you tell me the storys? My guide has left me and I am quite lost and without direction which is very rare with someone of my abilities." I look around for another chair and when finding none I then stand and offer the shadow of a man the seat and continue
"I don't like not knowing what is going on but katha just smiled and left me and I have no clue as to what book I would need to look in to find this stupid unique tree that looks like every other tree so I just started to wander to see if I can find anything that would help then I come across this desk and see the book and hope that maybe it might be an refrence for all the other books but it turnes out to be a journal of some person who lead an intersting life then you pop up out of shadow and nothing and scare me and now I am back to sqare one with no clues hints or Ideas about anything...." I take a deep breath and land flat on my back with my arms spread wide and whine
"I feel so alone and lost... I just wish something would make some sence in this cockamaymie place.."

S.Cole gently helped Cora to her feet and walked her to the chair and merely smiled at the mention of his sister's name. Walking to stand in front of his writing desk, S.Cole perched himself on the corner of his desk and smiled down at the halfling...
"My poor, confused halfling... you are within a realm where creatures of myth and legend reside. Nearly everything with these walls has the touch of magic within it. Unfortuneately, my sister is not much of a guide... she can get distracted rather easily..."

I take a deep sigh and repliy with heavy sarcasim
"Katha! Get distracted easily!! NO! I don't believe it."
I stand up and streach out my muscles and reluctantly saying
"Well, I apologize for reading your unshadowed selfs journal and thank you for keeping me company for a few, but, if you would kindly point me to the plant section of the library I will be on my way, I need to get back before Katha find me missing. She told me not to go anywhere. I mean, I hope you at least understand why it is kind of pointless to tell a halfling to stand still........... Well, anyways, I need to at least get back and look for the book I need so if you could please point the way."

S.Cole smiled to himself and shok his head slight. It had been a long time since he or his sister had encountered a halfing but even he still remembered that you do not tell a halfling to stay put anywhere...
"I shall do more then direct you my halfling friend, I shall help you find the book you seek. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Cole Ethren, owner of this pagoda. And who might you be my little friend?"

*Gasp*
"So your the voice in my head sublimanaly telling me to do bad things in stupid situations....... Oh, wait, you said pagoda not propaganda...My bad.My Name is Cora Tealeaf and I am jaded, well, a thief actually, but jaded none the less. I appretiate your help really I do and I promise I won't steal anything from the pagoda while I am here"
as I place my right hand over my heart and my left hand in the air I look at the shadow of Cole with honest innocence and wait for him to lead the way.
"I have many questions about this place that I would like to ask but I am not sure how to word it without sounding dumbfounded but the one that really stands out in my mind is thus..... How the hell did you get a bag of holding this large and where can I get one?"

S.Cole laughed lightly to himself, seeing this halfling had reminded him of his youthful days when he still adventured. This one reminded Cole of a halfling friend he once knew. Casting his eyes around the library once, S.Cole's eyes fell upon Cora once more.
"Well, I guess one could call this place a larger version of a bag of hlding, but in truth it is actually a pocket dimension that is contected to the door of where the library should be. One could say we're still in the pagoda but then again we also are not..."

we continued to walk down the isles in silence when I asked.
"How many people live here and how do you know when they come and go? Is everybody who lives here unique in some way? and are you sure we are not just being gathered together here in this one place till there is enough of us to fight in some war a god needs fought in? A small chuckle escaped S.Cole's lips as he and Cora continued to walk through the seemingly endless isles of books. It had been truly a long time Cole had spoke with one of the residents or directed one...
"In truth, I could know when one of the residents leaves or where they are within my walls, but it is not my place. All who enter here enter for their own reasons. Their past is their own... as long as that past does not bring danger upon this place, I shall not press into one of my guests past... As for your second questions, yes, all who reside here is unique in some way, be they human, elf, halfing, dwarf, demon, angel, dragon or what have you. We gather here for one true purpose... to espace. Many come here seeking rest... others seeking a home... It is my goal in this existence to help those who wander to find rest, even if it only for a moment..."
After his little speach, S.Cole and Cora walked in silence for a time more until they came to the books about flora and fona once again...
"Ah, here we are... now lets see, what kind of plant are we looking for?"

I heaved a heavy sigh and resited the all to familiar description of the tree
"I am looking for a tree that looks like every other tree but is not the same tree for when two hearts that belong together are in front of it it glows brightly for all to see."I finished my speech and looked at the shadow of Cole for hope that he might provide more assistance then the kind Katha had.

S.Cole paused for a moment and began to think. A tree that glowed when to hearts that are destined for each other are beneath it...
"Hmm... I've heard tales of this tree you speak of. I believed it was a thing of legends, but then again... anything is possible in this world. Let us begin our search, I do believe I know which book we seek."
With that, S.Cole walked down the isle of book, looking over titles and covers. He seemed to know what he was looking for...

"Oh thank the Gods someone does!!! I was starting to think that this tree didn't really exist!"
I follow Cole down the isles while he looked over the titles of the books and then finally asked in a embarresed tone of voice
"Ummm.... I don't know if you recall how I said that we were lectured our lessons,well, you see lectures are an interesting thing really, they garuntee that you learn because the teacher does not repeat himself but the down fall to lectures is........ You .... don't really... get the chance to learn.... how to read. Can you teach me?"
I look away in utter shame and embarresment afraid of being laughed at for my ignorence and waited for his responce.

S.Cole stopped his searching and turned to look at Cora. He noticed the emarrassed look on Cora's face and knelt down before her and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder... a gentle smile on his face...
"There is no need for embarrassment Cora, many do not know how to read certain languages and each society has its own way to teach its young. I for one was not properly educated until I was nearly an adult."
He smiled warmly had Cora and rose to his feet...
"You can learn one of three ways: The traditional way where I teach you, I can enter your mind and empart the knowledge into your mind, or you can come here and allow the books to teach you... who better to learn from the knowledge itself."
A small chuckle left S.Cole's lips...

I stared at cole with a wide eyed expression on my face.
"would the books be willing to teach me? can they teach me more than one language? I would love for you to teach me *blush* but you might have other things you need to do."
a light giggle to relive some of the tension
"I really am in no hurry to complete this quest anyway. If my mother realy missed me than she would have contacted me by now. She has three other majic using children to watch and teach so she has no time for an magicly inept child that can't follow in her footsteps."
I now stared up at cole with a determined look on my face
"I want to learn every language possible"

S.Cole stopped in his tracks and looked at Cora in disbelief. Cora actually believed her mother cared little for her...
"You really belive that? She may not be able to find you for where you are... only those who know of this place may find it. Along with reading, Almost anyone of the guest could teach you magic, even I. Also, just to let you know, at this moment I am in at least three places at once..."
S.Cole smiled once more at COra and began to look through the books once more...

I stared at cole in disbelief
"see han't gotten a hold of me in 10 years."
I stopped and thought about what I just said
"I know she is busy with my half sibs..."
I started to walk down the isles not caring were I ended up just hoping to be able to stop and think about the direction my life has taken. I stopped and sat in the shadows to think about every thing that has happened and where I ended up in life only to have my thought stop at the entry of the pergoda with all the lovoly cherry blosom trees. I pictured myself in the shade of one of the trees when suddenly it became bright.
"What the hell just happened and why am I out side? COLE!!! Where are you? what has happened?"
