Voila. Not Otto, but it's a turkish van kitten. Also... *sigh* I can't believe I'm defending this book, but Mulheim is actually German, because in PoM Erik is of German nationality. Well, technically he's from a part of Germany that was annexed to France, then taken back by Germany in the Franco-Prussian war, then taken back by France, then conquered again by Germany in WWII, then given back to France again. At any rate, it was part of France when Erik was born there and it's a part of France now, but the history and culture is German. It's weird.

Aw, it's cute.
Yeah, I knew the book mentioned his birthplace as being German, but ruled by France. The surname irks me, though.

My dad thinks I'm a nut for disliking Forsyth.
Then again, he doesn't understand my obsession with PotO. Few family members of mine do. *sigh*

NOOOO! NO SEQUAL! It totally ruins the beautiful artistry of the closing scene. If he disappears only to reappear in a new storyline, then he loses the air of a being not quite human. Completely disappearing from anyone's sight makes him seem more like a ghost or an angel. Regardless of how much a sequal's storyline and music would rock or suck, it should be left ALONE!

And another point I must add... consider the lack of success that ALW had from "The Woman In White". (For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about... exactly.) Yes, "Jesus Christ: Superstar" was good. Yes, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" was good. Yes, "Cats" was extremely successful. And yes, "The Phantom of the Opera" swept us all of our feet. (Or else we wouldn't be here, right?) But seriously, leave it at that. Quite while you're ahead, Monsieur Webber. We'll still worship the fabulous show that you gave to us!

Also "Whistle Down the Wind" wasn't as successful. Was "Starlight Express" successful? I don't know, ALW's hit a rough streak of late.

Utakan Oh, it's going to be so camp, it's going to make Freddy Krueger look good. *snickers* I am guessing you have never seen this Phantom horror flick! You'll thank me later. I believe Robert Englund did more justice than ALW himself.

At least Robert Englund can kill teenagers in their sleep terrify people.

Um, I guess I'm kind of late on this but I must say, LEGASPETH! I am horrified by this! Allthough I love the book simply because it deals with my beloved Phantom...a musical...a sequal? crying We don't need more, "I know everything about the musical because I own the movie" people. No please, no!
*admits* I was one at one time but then I read the book (the original and susan K version) and gathered all the info I could from various places so now I am a well-informed Phantom Phan but still a novice compared to you people.
The fact of the matter is, the latest "phans" don't bother to educate themselves in the true musical and stick with the movie and if it cam to a sequal...good lord help me. We'll be mauled but the halfwits who dare say they know Phantom! *ends rant*
Edit: Hallo Ukatan (think I spelled that wrong) long time no see. I met you on the official Phantom board a looong time ago in that argument about why I hate Raoul. >.< I am so glad you got rid of the "Phantom of the Opra" signature. Lol. It scared me. Hehehe.

Quote: We'll be mauled but the halfwits who dare say they know Phantom! Y'mean like when the movie came out? I don't think it'll be that bad, though. Film reaches a wider range of obsessive, idiotic teenagers than theatre does. It seems like everything ALW's done has gone downhill for the last decade or so. He peaked with Phantom and has never yet been able to recapture that success.

Yes, we'll get spam like this:
"ZOMGILUFFTHEPAHNTOMNOHESNOTERIKWHOSERIKRAULSHOULDHAVEDIED!!!!11!elevendyone"
wow...that pained me to write.
But yes, you see my point. It'll make things even worse.
And, as usual, I agree with Fox.
