Alex smiled kindly at the man. He looked like he'd been in a hurry. At least, she assumed so, since he seemed to have materialized in the span it took a Gwee to bombard her. Absently rubbing the animal under her jacket, she thought about that water she had wanted. Her initial shock had worn off, so she didn't quite feel it was necessary anymore.

"Odd question," she started with a sheepish smile, "but do you guys have hot chocolate? That sounds divine. If not, then lemonade will do." The Gwee under her jacket started to shift suddenly, his nose poking out over the zipper. "Mm?" she looked down at the dragon she was trying to keep warm. The creature sniffed around, pushing his head out of the jacket. He looked at the man, or more pointedly, the sweets in his hands. The Gwee looked at Alex, chittered, and dove back in her jacket.

The woman at least had the grace to look embarrassed. "I, ah...I'd love two of your pastries there too, if they're available." She was hoping the bonfire and strange lighting would hide the majority of her awkwardness at ordering for a spoiled dragon.

Messy hair fell down to his eyes, pushing the hair back, trying to make it look more smooth, Ray let a confused voice, "O... odd?" What odd? Did I say something wrong in English? Okay never mind, maybe his ears just played trick on him. "Hot chocolate... yes we have," He made a cup of hot chocolate while his eyes trailed down from the woman's face because he thought he saw something green moving there, but he couldn't see anything strange. Okay okay... now my eyes play trick on me too... He sighed wearily as he put a cup in front of the woman.

"And two pastries... Here," Ray still be on his way of working his best. He couldn't take his mind out from the green thing moving... He believed he saw something under the woman's jacket in a second back there. But who knows? Maybe it was only his imagination.

Maybe I slept too late last night... still blurry...

"I meant to say that my question would be odd. I'm sorry, I'm still a little overwhelmed," she admitted, eyes flitting between the Raevans. Her attention narrowed onto the steaming mug as he placed it on the counter. Alex accepted the hot chocolate with a grin; she had her fireplace and hot chocolate after all! With the Gwee tucked in her jacket, it could almost be considered a blanket. Almost.

The Gwee's tail stuck out from the bottom of her jacket as he chittered at her again. "Impatient! Be still, Zoe," she huffed as she pulled some money out of her pocket and placed it on the counter. She sipped her hot chocolate, her eyes closing in a lazy fashion. "Mmm," she commented dreamily, "this is perfect. No change, please." Her green eyes sparkled when they opened again. She used her free hand to pick up one of the pastries, holding it above the counter. "Don't be rude, Zoe. Come out."

The green creature chittered a protest, but begrudgingly crawled out of the jacket and onto her shoulder. He was small for a Gwee, but large enough that perching on her shoulder was a balancing effort. The dragon snaked behind her neck and looked down her arm at the sweet. He licked his little chops and started to walk carefully down her arm to reach her hand. The Gwee stopped mere inches from her wrist, looking at the man as if he'd forgotten the human was there. He quickly snatched the sweet and ran back up her arm and behind her neck, eyes wide.

"Thank you," she said to the gentleman, "you've made his day and then some. I'll let you set up now." Alex smiled jovially at the man before backing away from the booth to let him do what he needed to.

...Partie D'Amour? A pair of stormy gray eyes quickly scanned over the invitational flyer, unimpressed.

Any other time Shuura would most likely have jumped at the opportunity to party and otherwise socialize, get suitably intoxicated, and pick up information and opportunities she could use to her advantage later, but from what she could see from this...."party", if it could honestly be called one...it wasn't really happening. As a matter of fact, it seemed a lot more like the festival she helped organize a while back, and after that particular involuntary experience she had really developed a strong distaste of similar events.

Unable to resist a small, unlady-like snort, the raven-haired girl turned slightly to the ebony and crimson Frei floating gracefully alongside her. "Well Vyn, you're the one that showed me the flyer." She arched an eyebrow at her shadowy charge, her next words laced with delicate strains of sarcasm. "...Go knock yourself out."

With that, the teen quickly removed herself from the crowd, leaving the young Frei to fend for herself. Work was paying double the normal wage today because most people had asked for the day off, and with today being Valentine's, she was sure she could earn some pretty outrageous tips....

Vyn watched her guardian disappear back into the crowd, feeling mixed emotions conflict within her. The Shadow Raevan wasn't sure if she felt annoyed at being abandoned or glad that she was left alone to do as she pleased. It wasn't the first time Shuura had simply left her in a strange place without much forewarning, and Vyn supposed she was getting used to it.

The difference this time was that Vyn had actually requested to come to this event on her own accord, for Shuura had never noticed the glossy invitational flyer stuck in the very back of the mailbox until Vyn had pulled it out. Shuura had already been reluctant enough to take Vyn to the event, so Vyn wasn't overly surprised at this result.

Tilting her rosy head softly, Vyn floated delicately in a patch of shade near the refreshment booths. A confusing mix of smells assaulted her senses, causing her to float backwards involuntarily--for some reason, the smell of food has been making her feel sick lately. However, she caught the scent of something fresh among all the dizzying smells, and after scanning the booths carefully, found the source nestled between cookies and ice creams--

Aphismet had grown tired of rolling the dice, but gave it one last go just in case. "I don't want to win my own prizes or anything, but Rivener really wanted one in particular." He was loathe to admit that he was trying so hard for the sake of his charge.

"Another losing roll," he said with a sigh. He turned a smile to the red-headed girl and said, "Well, I need to stop rolling for a little while. It was nice to meet you! Please enjoy the event!" With that he walked away, towards the refreshment stalls, his eyes locked on Riv.

When he reached the booth, Aph smiled at his Frei. "Can I have some hot chocolate please? I'm going to be sitting over there near the bonfire, in case you're looking for me. Okay?"

Rivener simply nodded at Aph, giving him the hot chocolate with a fake smile and a very clear frown; he didn't like serving his guardian, even if it was for a "good cause". He watched the man walk off, thanking the sky that Aph at least had enough sense to not say anything more.

A quick glance around revealed a spark of red and black among the shadows nearby; a familiar shape. Vyn! Rivener knew she was shy and probably wouldn't interact much, but he couldn't resist waving a hello to her. He then lifted his camera, and flashed a picture of her.

She shouldn't have been surprised, but she couldn't help it. When Lorenzo had turned his little green head and perked up, Alex had followed his gaze to see what had his attention. He was so ADD about what he did. She tried to keep up with him, but he'd usually be off on something else before she even got halfway to where he was. So when he was staring for more than five seconds, Alex took notice, and wanted to see what had captivated him.

A female Raevan.

She felt like she was back to having seen the Raevans for the first time. Unconsciously, she looked to the black and red one in the booth, then to the female. She looked so alone and out of place, but she was every bit as beautiful as the roses she bore. The woman took a deep breath, and could have sworn that the air suddenly was filled with the fragrance of flowers. She hadn't even noticed the other people in the vicinity, or that Zoe had flown off to enjoy his treat in peace.

Alex walked back to the booth, tearing her gaze away from the woman to look at the black and red male. "Excuse me," she said softly. "Can I get a bouquet of those flowers?" She looked earnestly at the handsome male, then shifted her eyes meaningfully to the female.

Niksia rolled 2 100-sided dice: 28, 45 Total: 73 (2-200)

Niksia wondered what prize it was Rivener had wanted, though she decided against asking. It was still early, she'd probably find out one way or another later.

She gave Aphismet a little wave as he left her. It wasn't as much fun without someone to talk to, and she'd hovered around the dice game too long.

After checking the failed fate of her dice once again, Niksia decided to wander the kissing booths, seeing if any of their occupants were looking for some business.

Not that she expected to kiss anyone, booths or not there was already a lot of touching going on today. Maybe she'd get to talk to another Raevan, that was a lot easier and looking at them... Well, it appeased some little part of her mind that liked things out of the ordinary.

It was hardly a surprise that Tsu was past the whole fashionable part of being late and just skipped straight to "REALLY" late. He had barely heard about the Valentines Day event from the labs and then had been hesitant to join in. After all... who wanted to work on Valentines Day when there were plenty of sexy cute single women to seduce console?

Zavier had insisted they try and show up at least a couple hours after the start. He wanted to possibly see some of the other raevans in a setting outside of the lab - not to mention he was supposed to be working the refreshments table. Kissing was too risky... he even was unsure about that kiss that he gave Rivener at the beach.

"Hurry up already! You need to do your part for the labs too! Stop being such a freeloader!" Zave looked at Tsu and said a little crossly.

"Hey! I got that grant I'll have you know." Tsu shot back. "Although I might get some nice girls to look at while in the booth."

Finally arriving at the scene Zave could only look in awe at the number of people that were already here. Not to mention all the raevans.

"The refreshment booths are over there. Don't get too overwhelmed now." Tsu said heading in the direction of the lucky pan and kissing booths. "Probably don't have to tell you, but I'd stay away from that tunnel of love..."

"Unless I find someone I want to go with of course." Zave shot back. Before Tsu could respond, he was gone. How can one not be overwhelmed by the number of people and other raevans out there? Zave thought to himself as he took his place in a refreshment booth between the raevan that had been in statis for so long and a different raevan that had radioactive green skin.

================================================

Tsu wandered over to the Lucky Pan in the meantime. "Might as well test my luck" he decided out loud. Hopefully this would be a sign for the rest of the day if he would get lucky at the kissing booth. If not, he always had some dirty magazines to keep him company.

Briefly adding the numbers together in his head... Tsu cursed. "124... s**t. At least I'll have my magazines. Maybe can steal away here again just in case." With that he moved to the kissing booth that was labeled for him and took a seat. He was a little shocked to see that his landlord - the infamous Julian Sweet - was manning one of his own already. Probably Chloe's doing. "Dr. Sweet! What a surprise to see you here!" Tsu couldn't help to exclaim as he took his seat.

A wave of motion and a flash of light caught the Frei's eye. Vyn winced at the flash, a slender hand tipped with black-lacquered nails coming up to shade her eyes from the brightness. Gently shaking her head to clear the spots blurring up her vision, she realized that it was the familiar but long-unseen face of Rivener that was behind it.

She drifted closer to the stand where Rivener and another black-haired figure was at....For some reason, being near Rivener always managed to make her feel more at ease; like taking root in familiar soil, he felt like something familiar, despite the fact that they've only seen each other a few times.

A flurry of green darted past and Vyn was momentarily reminded of Squirt -- anything small and green reminded her of her little "brother", actually, and the fact that he was not with her now, teaching her the names of new things, was a sore point in this otherwise rather interesting place. She turned her head trying to follow wherever the fleeting green thing went, but it had flew past too fast for her to track it.

Alex's eyes opened wide in horror. Zoe! She's forgotten about him, and he'd nearly ran into the lovely woman. He usually wasn't so reckless, but the sweet must have excited him.

"Lorenzo!" she cried out, embarrassed. She closed the distance between herself and the beautiful female Raevan, clasping her hot chocolate between nervous hands. "I'm so sorry miss," she said, biting her lip. "He's...a little careless when he gets a treat. I hope he didn't frighten you?"

The woman took a moment to examine the lovely visage in front of her. The Raevan's eyes were mesmorizing, a beautiful ebony and crimson stained amber that made her look truly unique. Her hair was a shade of red mostly reserved for nature, and her skin was such a compliment to her dark attire and perfect nails. Alex felt she might be staring, but this time it was more admiration than disbelief. Not sure what else to say, she offered somewhat belatedly, "He's never been around so many people. The Raevans are new to him. To both of us."

Rivener was looking at his camera screen, admiring the picture of Vyn. She had looked so graceful, he hand in the process of lifting to cover her eyes... a lovely photo.

A woman's voice lifted him out of his ruminations, and he blinked for a minute before realizing what the black-haired lady wanted. Oh, flowers! Of course, Vyn would like those! With a smile, Rivener turned and floated over to the roses, tulips, and all the other blooms. He grabbed one of each, in the shades of red and pink that were popular today. It ended up being a very varied bouquet; very busy-looking, not artistic, but one that displayed a bit of everything.

When he turned to float back to the booth, he saw the little green thing zip by. He'd seen one or two of those around before, but never up close... He wondered if they were as much fun as Beauregard. Smiling, he brandished the bouquet to his customer. "Here are your flowers," he said in his usual honeysweet voice. "Don't forget to pay," he added with no tact at all.

"Eh?" Alex turned around to see the male Raevan holding a bouquet of beautiful flowers in his hands. Between that mellow voice and dashing smile, she didn't have to wonder why he was the one working this area. Accepting the flowers, she couldn't help but note how they paled in comparison to him.

With a light chuckle, she pulled out enough money for the flowers and then some, placing it in his hands, being very mindful not to touch him. She didn't need her work-nature to come back and make the situation awkward. It didn't occur to Alex that he was being tactless or rude; he was doing his job, after all. "Thank you, they're lovely!" Alex rather liked the arrangement; it had that honest feel that professional florists lacked. She smiled at the handsome male before turning to the female Raevan.

"You know, they don't quite do you justice," she joked as she held the flowers out to the lovely woman, "but I hope they are to your liking."

Natsuki Yanagitani

PostPosted: Fri Feb 16, 2007 3:34 pm

"Dr. Sweet! What a surprise to see you here!"

The money slipped from Natsuki's fingers and landed on the table. Tsu arrived. Not only that but he also knew Julian. 'This is nice and awkward,' Natsuki thought, swallowing hard. Without her crazy wigs, plastic glasses, or work costume, she young 20-something was certain he wouldn't recognize her. She batted her thick black eyelashes over her gray eyes in an attempt to regain her train of thought.

However, it had decidedly derailed. She shook her head again, and regained her composure. It had been months she she last seen Tsu at her cafe, and getting all riled up like this was simple silly.

"Julian, is this a colleague or friend of yours?" she asked, tilting her head with a broad smile. Nervously, she pushed a few strands of copper hair behind her ear.

Gage was very still as the woman who had requested water moved on to speak with the others manning the booth. His attention was too diverted, instantly taken and thrown like a baseball from one person to another. The truth was he did not leave his guardian's apartment very often, and even the unusual color of pink was somewhat bothersome when he was meant to be assisting customers. Even the strange Frei Kalec did not hold his interest, though that was hardly the other Raevan's fault. Gage's attentions were scattered. He only stalled completely, focusing on a single subject, when a certain member of his species was led onto the fair grounds.

Everything around him seemed to move rapidly then, from Rivener taking a picture of her to some lady purchasing flowers that he could not touch simply to give to the red-haired female. The only person seeming to be moving at a normal pace was Gage as he sunk low towards the ground. When only his eyes and above could be seen, he stopped, simply watching as Vyn interacted with the other people. Something flared up within him, but it was more or less overpowered by another that claimed hiding was in his best interests.

Julian was doing just about anything but hiding. While he was nowhere near gargantuan in height, the young scientist did a fairly good job of faking it. It became obvious he was practiced in the arts of looming, glowering, and leering in an entirely platonic fashion. As the rather irritating lady commented on a disease he was completely sure neither he nor Natsuki possessed, he could only think to give her a look that suggested he had a special place for her in the vat of acid he kept back home.

The process of switching gears from anger to a business-like conduct was done inbetween the small tilt of his head that had him once again facing the more pleasant individual visiting his booth. He took the money from the table where it had been dropped with practiced ease. "I try not to supply all the answers."

Julian was of a mind to say more, but the appearance of the good doctor's brother mentally cut him off. His response might have sounded childish if it was uttered by any other individual. "We are nothing like friends."

Sam mood had been constantly dropping further towards grumpy continuously since he had gotten to the fair. He had even ignored the boy who had bumped into him and called him 'Chole' whoever that was.

Sam had mulled about in the crowd for a while, watching the raevans and their interactions. There seemed to be a person assigned to most of them and Sam had come to the conclusion that these were most likely scientist assigned to study a particular raevan's actions. He was currently trying to nonchalantly stalk the one assigned to the red and black one. He didn't seem like a scientist, but they were unidentifiable without lab coats on in Sam's opinion.

He walked up to the dice table where the man had just been and rolled the dice. He tried to look as non-conspicuous as he could being a walking fish man. He rolled the dice...
