"What the hell," Steps yelped, and started to yank his arm back. But, having no real reason to refuse the mage, he followed anyway. It didn't take him long to realize they were headed for the labs, and the fact obviously irked him. Last time he had been in there he'd been berated by a mage and thoroughly snubbed by a schoolgirl. But, wait. Maybe this mage wanted to tell him something about his daughter? Keeping that in mind, he quickstepped a bit to catch up to him, barely noticing the change in outfits, "Is it...?"

Grinning, and waggling the watch in Step's face, Dacian explained.
"This here, is an alarm to let me know when the energy starts fluctuating - meaning upcoming birth - for any of the Souls. Yours has started fluctuating."
Down and into the labs...they were almost there. He hoped they wouldn't be there too long, though - they still had the party. Of course, this was still wonderful all in itself. He wondered what it would be...

"So I'll be taking her home with me tonight?" he asked curiously, wishing he'd been motivated to finish the crib before now. This was certainly a perk to his night, as odd as that sounded. At the time all he wanted was someone stable to love, and his daughter would have to be that, right? Maybe not the best reason to want a child, but it was something.

Her? Stephen was very sure about that. Hmm...might be entertaining then, if it turned out to be male.
Dacian nodded as he opened the door to the labroom, stepping inside as he explained, "Yes - you'll be able to easily."
He could see that the orb in the center of the room was 'crackling' - energy moving around on the surface - and it was almost ready. Just a little longer...
"Oh, and you've met Hadrian, right? If you have any health concerns about the child later on, or the child needs a check-up, go to him - he's something of a medi-mage."
It wasn't much, but it did allow Hadrian to detect problems and illnesses - thus, if there was something they couldn't handle, he should be able to spot it easily.
As they waited , the Soul began to fluctuate even more.

"Yeah, I've met Hadrian," he answered, with a tone that seemed a little unhappy with the name. It wasn't that he didn't like the mage, they just didn't really see eye to eye with a lot of things. The crackling got his attention though, and he soon forgot any problems he might have had on his mind. "Is.. Is it supposed to do that?" he said nervously, getting as close to the ball of energy as he dared.

Before Dacian could even answer, the fluctations began to grow - and then it seemed to implode. The light was so bright that it blinded both men in the room for a few moments...before it receded, and a small toddler was left in the center of the room.
Vega had been born.
As his eyesight returned to him, Dacian observed the toddler, who seemed to be a little boy. Then he turned his gaze to Steps, with a grin on his face as he awaited the usual response of all parents upon seeing their new kid.

Stephan put his arm over his face when the light flashed, almost crying out. When the light faded he froze, noticing the toddler sitting in the center grinning happily. Before he could say anything the child managed to get to its feet, throwing its arms clumsily into the arm. "Ta!" it shouted, with an odd tone in its voice. Steps rushed forward at this, scooping the child up into his arms, spinning it around for a moment before he turned to look to Dacian. "She's beautiful," he said, causing the child to bat its eyes at the compliment. It seemed he hadn't yet realized "she" was a boy.

"Ahh...Stephan?"
Observing the child, Dacian gave an amused smile at the other man; he hadn't quite realized yet how Steps would react to his supposed 'daughter' being a son.
"Take a closer look...it's a boy."

"Eh?" Stephan asked, turning a skeptical glance on the mage. Wanting to check for validity, he took a closer survey of Vega, who had a very sneaky look on his face. When he noticed what Dacian was referring to, he froze, "Um..." Well damn, that wasn't expected. 'He' certainly didn't look like a he. "Well I was off." His voice had gone up a few octaves, and the look on his face was strained. Well, maybe this wouldn't be that bad, even if the kid did look a little... Androgenous.

Noticing Stephen's reaction with a bit of confusion, Dacian gave a shrug.
"Well, what do you want to call him? I'll put him in our files. Normally Hadrian is the one that takes care of it - but I know how to do the DNA test to see what blend he is, if you'd like."
He seemed like a sweet boy, even if Steps was surprised by it. Ah well, maybe it the name giving him trouble? A lot of names weren't so easily altered to a masculine or feminine version.

"Um.." Steps mumbled, looking into the boy's face, "Well, how long would the test take? I don't want he--um, him, to hate his name later on." That and he wanted to be really sure that there wasn't something weird going on. Not that this child's bright purple eyes didn't already register as weird and a bit creepy in his mind.
Freeing his finger from his own silver hair, the boy pulled himself up higher in Step's arms, getting so that he managed to entwine both tiny fists in the brown mess, giggling quietly as he gave them a tug that earned a slight yelp from his father.

"It will only take a few moments..."
Approaching the little boy, Dacian felt a smile creep onto his face at how adorable the kid was. Steps would get over his uncertainty soon enough, he thought - who wouldn't, to those eyes?
"Hi there...this'll only be a little p***k, alright?"
His watch device did something strange. It opened up slightly, and when he pressed it against the little boy's arm, Vega would feel a slight p***k - not painful, but more like when you accidently poke yourself on something.
Then he moved back the computer, and began to tap things out on it.
"Just give it a few minutes to run through the database - it might be quick or slow, depending on what it is."

Stephan nodded, adjusting the boy so that he couldn't reach his long hairs so easily. He was honestly a bit afraid to find out what the blend was, Gavin's had been obvious but this boy, he didn't really seem to have anything different. Well, except for his colors, but most of this stuff was expected to be weird, right? He cringed slightly, wishing those few minutes would go by faster.
Vega, upon being poked, didn't actually feel any pain. But once the mage walked away and the attention turned away from him, he decided it was a sheer torture. Putting one tiny hand on where he guessed he had been stuck, he let out an earshattering screech, instantly turning from adorable to a sheer devil.

Opening his mouth, Dacian prepared to tell Steps what the blend was - and he was a little surprised, himself.
Then Vega screamed.
Dacian's reaction at this point was to cringe and cover his ears. So much for Vega seeming cute, to him...he knew that it didn't hurt! But that was a child for you. Maybe Hadrian kept candy in here?
No, no...and that was a grumpy mage for you. He'd have to remember to sneak lollipops in here, for the kids that got upset.
"It's alright..."
Trying to speak over the screaming. Ow.

Can't believe my phone's dead. What if that was Michael? Or what if that was Matt calling me to go put Stephen out because he'd lit some sort of eternal fire in his pants?
Natalie bit her lip, tapping her heeled foot. This wasn't good. Stupid phone! How had she managed to fry it?
Sighing and looking for a distraction to quiet her racing, worried mind, Natalie caught sight of Tristan. Tristan! She hadn't seen him in a while! Of course, the last time they'd talked, he hadn't had the ears or tail. But that wasn't a bad thing!
She came on over, smiling cheerfully. "Tristan! It's been a while. How have you been?"
