"I've created an interface--called AIS--that allows a person to use the marbles without going crazy. In simple terms, it's a mark that allows you to connect directly to the marble, sharing its life force with yours." Puff of smoke. "Only drawback, so far, is that it's pretty unstable. You need three people to be bonded together through the mark, or the whole thing just falls apart.

"Then I suppose I'll have to find two people with one set of marbles between them."
He laughed, squeezing the marble tightly in his hand.
"I don't suppose you'd hand over the fruits of your research so easy though. Let me guess... you'll let me be a guinnea pig for your experiments, and all I have to do is go get you more magical gumdrops, right?"
Man, he had this 'hunt for the magic stuff' s**t down pat. It was really unnerving how often that seemed to come up in Gaia.

Tormenta sighed as he neared the entrance to the Institute once more. His search for a third person was not going well at all. It infuriated him that there was so much power stored in these marbles - indeed, he could feel it - yet he could not gain access to this power until he had one more person, and he doubted that the mage he had met earlier would be that person.
Sighing, the vampire instructed Anji to stay outside, then made his way to the door, knocking on the door while staying strong enough to do so without a rhythm.

"Wow, I wonder why everyone suddenly feels so compelled to knock all of a sudden," Tadashi said, hand going to the back of his head. "I'm used to everyone just barging on in."
Jumping to his feet, he scurried to the door and opened it for the vampire. "Yes?"

Alm arrived conveniently as the door opened, his head held high as he tossed the bag of marbles in his hand, "I have found my marbles, Tadashi! In the shantytowns just as you had said"
Alm hadn't paid much attention to the man in the black overcoat until he finished talking, "Hello, boy. I am Almarech Yrgendall, master of runic magic. And your name is?"

Tormenta pushed his way past Tadashi and into the building just in time for Alm to push past him. "Well, I was going to ask you if you knew of anyone trying to find two more people, but now I'm not sure that's necessary," he answered Tadashi, then called out to the mage. "Almarech! Did you find those after we left?"

"Good for you," Tadashi said, hand over mouth, supposedly to hold a tabacco stick to his lips. He would give it some serious thought the next time he decided to pun on the word "Marbles."

His name was absent. Due to that wonderful ironic timing, he had ousted himself from the darkened room just moments before.
Perhaps he was heading towards the city center, or perhaps it was towards the construction site to box the ears of some local teens who were hanging around the place with nothing better to do.
It all depended on where the winds of chance brought him.

Alm glanced back at the man who apparently hadn't hear him for but a second before turning his head to his vampiric friend, "Yes, I conned a kid out of them. I don't feel bad, though, since he had stole them in the first place."
Alm decided to reveal his ingenious plan to a fellow scientist in a hushed whisper that none besides Tadashi would hear, "You see, Tadashi, I will use these marbles to decieve others who oppose me. I will feign defeat, but truly give them a fake marble with an explosion rune inscribed upon it. That way I can weaken them quickly!" Alm was quite proud of his plan, plainly shown by the ear-to-ear grin planted on his face.

Tormenta smirked. "These marbles really are that powerful, then?" he asked, his smirk soon giving way to a puzzled look as the man whispered something to the scientist. "Almarech, Anji and I are still short one person, so we cannot see what these marbles are truly capable of. Would you be willing to join us?"
