She kept her voice controlled somehow managing a smile as she wondered how the silent audio in the cute chocobo costume was doing. Bullseye, had it been? Her talaye sisters Fidelity & Miranda spoke well of an evolved tala of the same name & Relm wondered if perhaps they were similar. Like how there were others of herself & Rikku's Naruto even in the same family. Almost idly the pictomancer wondered about that.
"I appreciate that he's a powerful leader with efficient underlings that know how to get the job done. Most likely that's what I picked up on wanting to paint him in the first place. Certainly that would make him very self assured. More power to him. However I am not now & was never one of his employ, so there's no reason I should have thought to take what he said as anything other than it came across."
Seeing Kaleb's sunken body language she sighed, her eyes softening. "Look. It's a sore subject with me & I'd rather talk about something else so let's drop it, okay? Just something I have to work past."
Somehow Relm suspected that if she did not keep conversation going it would likely stop there & she would rather it not end on such a sour note. "So changing the subject, do you boys hang out together much after work? Aside from lunch breaks?" Her smile warmed immensely -she was really trying.

Kaleb's posture didn't change much, and he only continued to poke at his soup. The little healer knew he was only an 'efficient underling' as well, so he didn't feel very reassured even when Relm changed the topic. For his boss, that was probably all his skills amounted to.
He tried to smile back though, it wouldn't hurt to make an effort. "Riley took me to an amusement park on his day off, and it was a lot of fun," he said, his mood picking up a bit when he thought about it.

He had been about to just say that they did sometimes but blushed slightly as Kaleb said they had gone to an amusement park. That was something either usually kids did or people on dates.
"Yea ... Kaleb was bored so we went ta a park. He comes ta watch movies with me sometmes to"

Relm quirked a brow then just as quickly schooled the response away to see the Turk blush. She had expected such a thing of Kaleb perhaps, but not a Turk. Though I suppose if he's partnered with a Turk that makes him a Turk as well? Something to think on, at any rate. "Really? An amusement park? That sounds like fun."
She got a slightly dreamy look in her eyes -one her family knew to indicate that the artist's thoughts had wondered to a certain hummingbird colored male. "I've never been to one, but I've heard they're fun. And movies too? at your place, I take it?" Fliping her wrist backwards to 'point' at Riley indicating which she had meant by 'you' Relm grinned as her mind absorbed that information. Her friend very well could possibly be even more clueless than she had thought. Well, she certainly was not going to ruin the fun. Plus then no one would know if she was wrong. "That's great that you don't get bored of each other. What things did you guys do at this amuzement park? I hear they've rides & games & sometimes shows and things."

Kaleb's smile got a bit more enthusiastic. "It was really fun, we went on some rollercoasters, and Riley played a frog game with me, and I won a toy." He seemed pretty proud of that accomplishment, but it had been his first time playing any of those carnival type games, so he probably had a reason to be proud.
He didn't notice his partner's awkwardness, but he wouldn't have understood the reason for it anyway. He had also completely forgotten about being mistaken for Riley's younger brother, and the unfortunate incident in the funhouse.

"Well there was tha girl who thought ya were my kid brother." He nudged is partner and grinned. "... and tha funhouse." He probably shouldn't say that Kaleb had fainted and he'd been forced to carry his partner out. Relm didn't look like the kind who needed to know that.
"Yea at my place. I've got bigscreen tv's so it's easier ta watch'em. Plus my couch ain't covered in books"

Relm laughed. "Why'm I not surprised your place is covered in books, Scholar?" It was an easy laugh, showing no trace of the hurt and anger of the previous topic. "But that does sound like a good time. Good place to go with friends." She had a thoughtful look about her again and it was quite easy to see that wheels were turning inside as she planned. "We've been talking about going somewhere as a group again... and I think Keme & I would prefer a park to a city outing. Sounds like just the place Blonde & Blonder would like, so that would mean Blondie would see if her cousin & beau could come..." Tapping her chin thoughtfully Relm glnced out the window at the snow outside. She was still adding audios to the list and also trying to figure out a way not to bring Gwen along -or have someone there to distract her. "Probably after spring returns."
Her smile lit her face as she turned to Kaleb & his partner. "What do you think? Would you guys be game?"

Kaleb blushed at hearing Riley's reminders, he wasn't sure which incident had been more embarrassing. "I-I would love to go, i-if work doesn't get in the way..." He glanced over to see if his partner shared his feelings, it would probably be more fun if Riley decided to come along. He had only just gotten over his fear of rollercoasters, but if there were a large group he would be really embarrassed if he got all nervous again.

"Yea, i mean unless we had work er somethin." Or it was one of his visits to the labs. It would be fun to get to go back and maybe this time with a group people would think he was babysitting.

Grinning at their answers Relm pondered how this could work. "Terrific! How about you come up with the "when" then? Scholar has a number to our house in the book and bag he borrowed." A slight cloud passed over her eyes that Kaleb having their number meant that it was that close to the Turks... then shook that thought off with a smile. If she had made an impression that might have been a problem. As it was she had not, which once again was proving to be a good thing. She did not let her mind linger on the notion that if Turks wanted to find someone they likely could & would reguardless. It was not something the pictomancer wished to dwell upon even for a second though the knowledge tucked itself away in her head. "I can organize the who..." She laughed at herself and gave a silly wink. "Of course you probably don't get normal schedules in your work, do you? That might make it more difficult..."

Kaleb was absolutely delighted that Riley would go, and he couldn't help but grin. It would also be nice to see some of his other friends again, and it sounded like Relm might even be inviting people he didn't know.
He had to shake his head at her question though, he only had a predictable weekly schedule for his hospital work. Rufus tended to call him in whenever he was needed, and expected him to drop whatever he had been doing to get to the office. His partner seemed to be in on a more regular basis for paperwork and such, but he wasn't entirely sure if Riley had a fixed schedule or not.

"Nothin's predictable when yer tryin ta take ovea the world." He snickered as he stuffed the last of his sandwich in his mouth. They didn't have long left for their break so they should figure this out soon.

Her tail twitched with apprehension at the 'take over the world' comment but for now the pictomancer would let it slide. For now. Relm would not let herself forget it completely though. One Kefka had been bad enough. Why would anyone really want to take over the world anyway? No matter fun now. Besides... Relm found she was growing rather fond of Kaleb's partner. He seemed fun, and he was certainly good for Kaleb.
"Hmm. Okay. I can do that. Any specific number you would like me to call?" She left the question open to both but looked mostly at her friend. It would make more sense to call him after all, seeing as she and Riley only just met today.

Kaleb agreed with his partner, it would probably be good for Relm to do all the planning. If left up to him he would probably just lose himself in his books and forget. "I-I could give you my number," he suggested, his tail still wagging a bit in his excitement. "I've always got my cell phone with me, so it would be easy for you to get in touch."

"Yea, his phone'd probably be better." Riley had a habit of not picking up his phone if he didn't recognize the number anyway. Plus that way if Relm wanted to tell Kaleb anything else she could. Friends exchanged numbers all the time right?
