Omigod, I'm already in love with 'The Beach.'
"You're just a big blah!!" xd
Zuzu, you slay me. Finally you say something right to Mai!
Oh, and by the way, I saw another preview for the episode, which I'm sure a bunch of you guys have seen too...but...
>> Yeah, Aang kinda got spotted by two Fire Nation guys without covers on his tattoos...So the Fire Lord may or may not be knowing about the Avatar's 'aliveness' pretty soon.
Meaning, Zuzu may or may not be in danger.... *throws stuff at Azula* <<

To Spoilers: Dx Neither Aang or Zuko can ever get a break, can they? Everything always messes up on them.Gyah, I know! Stupid Azula! I was sitting there watching it, and I was just chanting, Ohno, ohno, ohno, ohno,OHNOES! Aang, you baka!! >>But seriously, I really wonder what's going to become of that bird. Maybe he'll be the victim of one of those infamous twists, and the message won't reach Ozai? It just seems too easy, and it was so up front! And Maiko was VERY up front, and look what happened to it!! I suddenly got this vision of it happening something like this... We have the Zuko beach arc, the Gaang and combustion man arc, then at the end of the episode, we finally see the hawk again, flying down into the royal fire city, or whatever you want to call it. Then possibly Ozai recieving the Hawk, or more likely, one of his goonies running in to give him the message. He reads it, and Ho-s**t, time for Zuko to run far away from daddy! That or maybe Azula will recieve it, and get one of those sadistic grins on her face, showing that everything is going her way. And off she goes to show daddy that Zuzu is a failure. Course that's if she's back in the city(from the beach) by then! << Ho s**t. My imagination is scaring me.
Zuko, man, just run. Run far, far away. gonk

Maiko...GRGHFDHFJG. UGGHHH.
Well...FINALLY Zuko said some junk to Mai...and I got all excited thinking, "ZOMG...MAYBE THEY'LL END IT FOR ALL??" But noooo...they have to make up and all. D<
Oh well... "the Beach" was a pretty cute episode. xD;; I just didn't like all the Maiko stuff in it. Ty Lee...she's so cute and funny. xD I love herr. <3 She's definitely one of my favorite characters.
And aww, Azula. D: I think Azula might actually have some sadness hidden back there somewhere.

Oh...Wow. Just, WOW.
So many mixed feelings about the Beach.
First of all. Maiko! It still lives!! gonk They just had to kiss again, didn't they.
Of course, now we know a whole lot more about them, including why Mai doesn't seem to care about anything. Ty Lee, jeez, I love her, I just wanted to hug her when she was crying. Poor thing. And Azula, Holy crap. Finally they show something of her other than her pshycotic-ism. I'm kind of glad in a way that they made her a little more human, up til now, she's been, to me, not much more than a power-hungry pshyco...But she has boy troubles?? and she cares?? And I know she said she didn't care, but did I detect a hint of sadness.regret whatever when she said that Ursa considered her a monster? Hmm, Suddenly Azula has dimensions! And I'm not really sure what to do with it! My brain nearly exploded when she was apologizing to Ty Lee at the party... And that poor boy she was trying to hit on. OMG, classic. xd
Zuko... Well, well, well, uber confession in this one! w00t! That scene when he was shouting about being angry, I was honestly close to tears! He realizes that having his father isn't really making him happy! And he was trying so hard to play the good boyfriend to Mai, and she shot him down every time! Poor guy, no wonder he blew up at her at the party. The scene when he went to his own old house, that was heartbreaking. and then he burns that picture...with his mother on it! That just made me sad. Though I know it was probably symbolism for Zuko realizing that things can't be the same as they were before. He can't be as happy as he was when his mother was around, and that may come back to play a part when he leaves to look for his mother, assuming that rumor is true. Which, I kinda really hope it is.
And the old Hags, Lo and Li. Oh. My. Effing. GOD. So bloody wrong. I saw that picture on the wall, and I knew who it was immediately...and it scarred me. And then they had to make it so much worse by taking off their cover-ups!!!! *BLARF!!!*
Zuko was cute there, though. I feel his pain.
And Combustion man. freaky. Wouldn't want to get on his bad side. I didn't think that they'd defeat him in one episode. specially when the Zuko arc was the focus. But damn, he's gonna come back... ninja
I knew something was going to happen to that bird!! xd
Zuzu's safe, for now.
So... wow. disappointment concerning the Maiko, but still, a ton of character development, which I love. heart
Augh, someday the Maiko break will be permanent. Someday...

Okay, so, Azula was total love in this episode. I mean, I've always found her sadistic, evil ways a bit interesting, but she was hilarious in this! I mean, the volleyball game? And her way of flirting. xD Apparently, poor flirting skills run in the family. *wonders what Ozai and Ursa were like* o.o
And the Maiko break-up, though temporary, made me incredibly happy. However, I'm still convinced they won't last. I mean, Zuko, as he stated, doesn't know what he believes is right and wrong. Once he does figure that out, though, I think it will lead him to leave the palace, possibly to join the gaang, which will definatley test what Mai is more loyal to; her boyfriend, or her nation.
Speaking of which, Zuko was also very lovable in this episode. I found the scene where he stripped down his shorts rather amusing. xD As were his fangirls.
Plus, as an added bonus, he finally figured out what was causing all his inner-turmoil, though he still isn't quite sure of exactly what he believes or what he wants. But, I already went over that.
Oh, and the family portraits/flashbacks? So sad. At first I thought Ursa was gonna be hiding out there, but alas, it didn't happen. Poor Zuzu. T.T Though, I'm really upset that burned the family portrait. I was hoping Katara would get see how cute he was as a kid. Dx
Hopefully, though, this'll lead him to going off after his mom.
Oh, and finally getting to see the Combustion Man was nice, too. Short scene, but still very interesting.
Hm... What else is there... Oh, the campfire scene was really nice. I liked hearing about Mai and Ty Lee's past. Even Azula's little bit was nice. Finally! We get some insight into why they're the way they are!
Lo and Li were pretty cool too. Wow. Never thought I'd say that. xD
Over all, awesome episode, though I would've prefered a permanent end to Maiko. xP Ah well, life goes on. And I have fanfiction to look forward to.

Ok, after rewatching Zuko's angsty speech on the Beach, I noticed something, something I'm very suspicious and worried about.
Zuko's yelling about how things should be perfect and he should be happy now that he has earned respect from his father. He goes on to say this:
"I'm back home, my father talks to me. Heh, he even thinks I'm a HERO!" Then the camera switches to Azula. And She gives the slightest evil grin.
Zuko's basically just confirmed to her that the Avatar is not dead. sweatdrop gonk
So the hawk didn't make it back to Ozai. But now Azula knows for sure, if she didn't already know. She at least knows that Zuko knows and that he's trying to cover it up. My worries for Zuzu are starting to come back... And why didn't I notice this when I was first watching!? Oh, yeah, I was too enthralled by Zuko's character development! xd

I'll have to rewatch it and see.
That is quite worrying... But, even if it does mean torment for Zuko, it'll probably result in him leaving the palace for one reason or another, which will bring him one step closer to helping Aang.

OHSHITOHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT!
HGHGFDJH
Oh God!
I was already freaking out when Zuko got that message. Only, I thought it would be Ursa giving it to him. xD Still, it being a message from Iroh was awesome. I' so glad he's talking to him again! Maybe now Zuko will figure out what's right and wrong, and his butt over to Aang and the others. >.<
Roku and Sozin!<3 Totally loved seeing them as kids. It's so sad what happened to them. T.T Hopefully, things end differently this time.
The Gyatso thing was really sweet, too.
Oh, and, was Sozin bending lava?! If so, then maybe Zuko can do volcano!bending too... I wanna see that now. xD
Oh, and for some reason, I find Roku saying, "Have a cookie" hilarious. xD
Zuko was a total ninja in this episode. Screw the BlueSpirit, Zuko doesn't need a disguise to be stealthy.
And HOLY CRAP! Roku is Zuko's great-grandfather?!?! That makes my brain hurt so much! And I have no idea why!
The ending was very sweet. Did I spy some Taang in there? I believe I did. ^.^ *squees*
Sokka, you were barely in this entire episode, and yet still totally pwned it. xD
Overall, very awesome. I WANT MORE! And I want some Ursa and Zutara next time!

GYAH, HOSHIT, I know!!! 4laugh blaugh
Wow, me and my friend saw it yesterday, and yeah. we had pretty much the same reaction!
The cookie bit? HILARIOUS. I'm actually thankful that we watched it ahead of time, and that we were able to pause it while we rolled on the floor in fits of laughter. Literally. Mike and Bryan must have caught on to the fandom's obsession with cookies ^^ Fanservice! Fanservice!!
Sozin and Roku's story was indeed a tragic one. It makes me sad and kind of made me think of Dumbledore and Grindewald.
And I swore that it was a member of the White Lotus who delivered the message to Zuko(in fact when I saw that bit in the preview, I totally wigged out, chanting 'It's the White Lotus, it's the White Lotus' as I paced the house)...I wasn't sure if it was his mother, but...Hey, I was right!
Iroh rocked it, though. if you looked closely, you could tell it WAS Iroh that delivered the message. How'd he get out of prison!? lol. And invisble ink? Iroh must have some nifty connections nearby!
And where did he get Roku's Prince crown? I thought that got left behind in the eruption! Mwaha, another conspiracy to solve!
Yesh, Zuko and his ninja skills always win.
And the greatest moment, was the revelation at the end. "You have TWO great-grandfathers, Prince Zuko." lol, silly Zuzu. And you know what? I THOUGHT the girl Roku had a crush on looked like Ursa!! And a little bit like Katara.... And thus, Zuko's brain exploded. Along with the fan's.
Zuko being a descendent of Roku, though...I did NOT see that one coming. I always knew that there had to be some underlying connection between him and Aang...But wow. This just took the cake. Hugest mind *bleep* EVER!
But Iroh is right, Zuko is the only one who can lead the Fire Nation after the war. He's the only one with a conscience in his family(as far as I know XD) and he has seen the suffering his nation's war has put on the other nations. mainly Earth, but yeah. After they dethrone Ozai, there's no way they can let Azula assume the throne. Zuko is their only hope. therefore, Zuko needs to be a good boy(and here I am trying to be serious...) Zuko really is the only one who can redeem himself and his families mistakes.
And what Aang learned, is that everyone deserves a second chance. Well, while I beg to differ in the case of Ozai and Azula, I just think they're too far gone, I just can't see them turning around and asking for redemption like Zuko will.... Roku has just set it up for Aang to have this forgiving attitude when Zuko comes to his senses.
Iroh and Roku are freakin' evil geniuses! Iroh's setting Zuko up for his big change, telling him that basically, he's going to have to go against his father in order to set things straight and redeem their family and himself. Roku's setting Aang up so that When Zuko does come to them, Aang will have this attitude of forgiveness, and that everyone is worthy of consideration.
Hopefully their broken friendship will be redeemed this generation...
Taang, yes. But they also managed to squeeze a tiny bit of Kataang hintiness in it too. >.< Roku giving Aang some small romance advice...*shrugs*
And oh! When Sozin and Roku are fighting the volcano, I noticed that Sozin's form as he was bending what, the smoke? away from them, he was using the same form that Iroh does when he redirects lightning! Or at least it was similar. Maybe it got passed down or something subconciously? XD
But Augh! FweeOMGWTFblarg
Such a cool episode. OMG.
I am beyond words anymore. Mike and Bryan are AMAZING.

Teh_Sheba: xD I just struggled not to laugh so I could hear the rest of what they were saying. I'll have to rewatch it later though since I think I missed a few lines.
Yay for cookie fanservice!
OMG! I was totally thinking of Dumbledore when Roku was battling that volcano! And, now that I think about it, Sozin is kinda like Grindewald, too.
Hehe. I immediately thought it was Ursa, and started spazzing out. xD It's a good thing I can spazz relatively quietly, otherwise my mom might have thought something was wrong with me.
Actually, the woman would Ursa's grandmother, wouldn't it? Still, Ursa would inherit some of the woman's features and stuff, which would explain why they look so similar.
Yeah, it was definately a huge surprise. But a very good one, too.
Wahhh! I just love all the Aang/Zuko parellels we're getting. I'm praying all this stuff points toward Zuko redeeming himself and Aang forgiving him. It needs to happen!
Yeah, I noticed the Kataang hints as well. >.< Roku! Quit giving Aang love advice!
That did look kinda like the lightning redirection technique! It'd be really cool if that was how Iroh learned to do it.
Agreed. ILY MIKE AND BRYAN!
zukpager: xD Now I want an icon of Aang saying 'I'm your great-grandfather!' to Zuko.

Thoughts on “The Runaway”:
Okay, so I totally loved all the Toph action in this ep. Seriously, we needed some of that. And I really liked that we got to learn more about her thoughts and feelings, like that she misses her parents.
Toph and Katara interaction was also very nice. The fighting, the bonding, the witty-banter… All very awesome.
Sokka still takes the cake, though. ‘Sparky-Sparky Boom Man!’ xD Total love. I actually laughed out loud at that. His ‘sneak attack’ was very amusing, too.
Oh, and the wanted poster? Awesome. xD The picture of Toph was rather amusing, as was Toph's reaction to everyone trying to show it to her.
Hawky! <3 I sense a Momo/Appa/Hawky love triangle. xD
The Sokka and Toph bonding was very nice, as well, though I don’t support the pairing at all. Still, I guess that scene can be interpreted as a friend-to-friend chat, or Sokka showing brotherly concern for Toph. Either way, I loved hearing him talk about his mom and Katara that way.
Aang looked kind of… Weird in this eppy. O.o Am I the only one who noticed that? Anyway, I loved seeing him use his inner Toph senses. Very cool.
Oh! Katara sweat-bending was very amusing, as well as very cool. xD ‘You’re a genius! A sweaty, smelly genius!’
Ooh! I noticed another Zuko/Katara similarity! It’s in the dialogue: Zuko: You brought this on yourself, you know. Katara: You brought this onto yourself.
Not much, but still interesting. It was actually the first thing I noticed in this episode. Well, aside from the whole, “WTF happened here?!” thing. xD
Uhhh… I think that’s it… Yeah. I guess it was nice seeing the Combustion Man again…
Overall, pretty awesome episode. Lots of laughs.

Ooh! nice similarity-spotting there! I didn't notice it since I was more focused on the WTF attribute of that part ^^
But yes, I agree, Toph needed something more than just one-liners and literally 2 seconds in the season trailer!! I was looking forward to it being about Zuko running away, but I am very much pleased with the Toph-ness.
The beginning with the sparring was very fun, Aang is getting really good, and he actually looks damn good doing it! Is that wierd of me to say about a 12-13 year old? *shrugs* Katara and Toph then switching off to fighting with each other rather than with Aang, that was fun. Mud-wrestling!! I think I hear Toph/Katara fans squealing in the distance! X3 heart Aang: So is practice over now? Katara and Toph: RAWR!!! Sokka: *shifty eyes, ninjaness* SNEAK ATTACK!!! *is earth bended* Aang: Sokka, sneak attacks only work if you don't shout them out...
Sokka, Toph and Aang running scams was just awesome! Toph is so adorable when she pretends to be helpless, but ends up kicking a** with ninja skills anyway...Gawd, I love her!! She was especially cute when she tossed those Fire Nation dice, and just cocked her head to earthbend them over...So adorable. *squee*
The poster was full of win... As were all the little blind cracks that came from it. and Sokka's failed attempts to get the two girls to make up. Katara: Sokka, I know you sent this! Toph can't write! Aang: Now I guess plan B is send one to Toph and say it was from Katara! Sokka: I think we're gonna run into a similar problem...
Hawky! I love Hawky! So cute how Sokka bought him without the slightest clue on how to train him to be a messenger. Sokka: Hawky, GranGran. Hawky: *shakes head*
The bonding moments with Toph and Katara and Sokka were really sweet too. I agree, it is nice to see a little more on what Toph is thinking about, seeing as how she doesn't get much personal time... And if you squinted, there was a little tiny bit of Tokka again! Nothing much, but Toph left her meteor armlet from Sokka back at camp so it wouldn't get stolen. And their little bonding talk on the cliff, too. I gotta say it, I'm really confused when it comes to Sokka ships. I like both Sukka and Tokka...
Sparky-Sparky-Boom man. Classic Sokka! I swear, everything that comes out of his mouth is hilarious! Yeah, Sparky-Sparky-Boom man got pwned by a pebble. lol. I wonder if he'll come back after this?
Sweat-bending!! lol That was very resourceful of her^^ Katara's a sweaty, stinky genius! woot!
And the canon has officially recognized that Katara acts as a mother to Aang! *dances* The pieces are almost all in place, Zutara is coming...*plots*
Gyah...Still 3 weeks until Day of Black Sun...At least we get that episode before the UK! They've been getting the episodes up to epi 9 before us and leaking them on the internets...which is how I've been getting the Avatar ^^
Next week's the Puppetmaster...Little late for Halloween, but it's pretty dark... ninja

Agreed. Toph deserves some character development, and I'm really glad she got it this ep, even if it means no Zuko.
Yeah, Aang's bending was pretty cool. So was the Toph vs. Katara sparring. xD Mudfights... Me thinks Mike and Bryan are giving some fanservice to the male fans.
The scams were very amusing, indeed. Toph actiung helpless was adorably funny <3
Hehe. I love all the blind jokes they make in this show. xD Though, I think this episode takes the cake with the poster and letters.
I was actually kinda wondering how messenger hawks work. Guess Sokka doesn't know either.
I loved the bonding moments, but I'm not such a fan of Tokka. I'm fine with Sukka and Ty Lokka and Yukka, but I just don't like Tokka for some reason...
xD Sparky-Sparky Boom man getting beaten by a pebble was very amusing. Though, I think he'll be back soon. He doesn't come off as someone who gives up easily.
Yus! Mike and Bryan finally acknowledge what we've seen all along! Now all we need is another cave to put our two favourite benders in. ninja
