"oh, I guess you don't know about them, they're basicaly shape shifters, except more advanced and sophisticated, and we can talk. We prefer to walk in the shadows, there are many of us, if you consider 2 many. Okay, there are barely any of us left. We are very susuptuble to high energy levels. A normal shadow shifter would fall into and infinite abyss when they spot a high energy creature. shadow shifters can only spot energy, but since i'm a mixed breed, i can see better than a human, unless i'm trying to see a human."

i wonder if momma and dad hid something from me when i was young cuase if i was normal i never would have found this place or....hmmm well maybe he will be able to clear this up for me

"Well remember it is possible for a human to find this place." Bert said knowingly. "It's just that only a human who has occult powers has the ability to find this place. A really good example would be exorcists and psychics since they seem to be the humans who visit this place the most." said Bert. "Of course I found this place the first time by reading a vampire's mind back while I was still human."

"That's right" says Bert " I used my telepathy primarily for artistic reasons, you know finding literary material for poetry" (Warning: poetry makes me, the player's head spin) Bert buys a martini and says "Apperantly there are a few people with magical talents who believe that gifts such as mine should be used for more "practical" purposes. I came to know of this when a witch felt insulted at the fact that I was using my telepathy merely to read the thoughts and memories of other people so I could use it in my work. I usually avoided revealing their secrets, unless I find out that the person whose mind I'm reading had recently commited a murder or similar crime."

"I've really only bothered reading your mind when you were drunk. That way I could find entertaining material without finding something particualrly incriminating." Bert says "i lack the skills to read the mind of a greater demon, a middle class demon is no problem but can be a challenge if they put up mental barriers. If I became a telepath full time it is speculated that I could even read the mind of a greater demon or even an archdevil with little to no difficulty."

"yes, but in order to find what your looking for, since you only get suface thoughts you'd have to say something that would make them think on that subject. I like to send out wave of hilarious thoughts when i'm drunk."

"I have scanned deep into a persons mind before." Bert answers "When doing so I enter a coma like trance. My first time I did have difficulty getting my consiousness back into my own head. I have also been used to diagnose demonic possesion. Let me tell you a demon's mind is usually not something you want to read if you can avoid it." Bert says with a shudder.
