No... but it would be perfectly within your right. *he quiets down, and follows her in*

She heads into the house and puts her keys down on the small desk by the door. "Sure, but I wouldn't do that sort of thing."

Inside the house it's hard to tell it used to be an inn except for a few clues. The room you step into has a large wooden table around which there are about 8 chairs. The kitchen in the far left corner is in an enclosed room with a small opening to pass meals through to the dinning area (a servery I think it's called). Diretly to your left is a staircase and there appears to be a lounge room through the open doorway on your right, with an unit open fire. Three cat-like creatures appear to be asleep on the couch in there. (Yeah I mentioned I owned three caits in my journal so I thought I'd better pop them in somewhere.)
The walls are all painted white and the ceiling overhead has exposed beams of some dark coloured wood. The odd painting and photo hangs on several of the walls.

She gives a little sigh and stretches her arms before turning to him. "So err... did you just what to head up and see the rooms?" She nods towards the stairs.

*he takes in the smell of the place: the deep, sharp scent of old wood, plaster, dust, furniture polish, and then life; the hair of animals, the snake and D. He snorts a little and peers at the cats. No, not cats. What are they? He shakes his head and twitches his nose, looking up* If that is what you wish.

"Ah well that was the point of the trip wasn't it?" She give a shrung and a small fleeting smile. "Right well it's upstairs..." Turning and starting to head up them.

*he stumps after her, sniffing and looking around. He touches the banister and the walls, infinitely curious about his new surroundings* I suppose...

The walls are cold, obviously made of stone and the banister is made of the same dark wood as the ceiling. The floor downstairs appears to be made of slat slabs, with large rugs to make them appear more homely and warm. The stairs themselves are made of wood also but it's so old that they've taken on the hardness and sturdyness of stone and don't creak as you walk up them.

((right now upstairs))
As you stand on the landing at the top of the stairs there is a door to your left. There's a small plaque nailed to it, on which someone has carefully painted the words 'Staff only'. A hallway heads off to your right with two doors on either side. One door, the closest on the left side of the hallway, is stiltly ajar.

"That one's Sidney's. I figured that if he does indeed grow like Nayati then he'd need his own room. Rather handy living in an old inn." D uncoils the snake from her arm and sets him down. After looking up at the two figures, Sidney nods a goodbye and heads into his room.

"You can have your pick of the rest." D gives a wave at the remaining doors. "They're all pretty much the same."

*Ah, how old could you be? He wonders at the house. The antiquity of the place tickles his fancy. Worn, like me. But not nearly so old. The "staff only" door catches his eye, and he imediately wants to find out what it contains and why he'd be kept out, but decides that if he's going to go snooping, he'll do it after he's been here for a while. If I stay at all, he reminds himself. But the house has piqued his interest, and his curious nature urges him to explore. Sleep first, however.* Ah... you wouldn't happen to have a basement, would you? I feel more at home in complete dark, underground, usually.

She looks at him, slightly confused for a second before relisation dawns. "Ah right of course." She ponders a moment. "There is a small wine cellar.... I could make that into a room for you?"

*A wine cellar. I'll be up all day looking at wine.* If you don't mind. But.. I need nothing more than the dark. As long as it's that, there's no more work to be done. *he turns and heads back down the stairs and waits at the bottom for her to show him the way*
PostPosted: Wed Jul 28, 2004 7:26 pm

A moment later she joins him at the bottom of the stairs. A thick blanket bundled in her arms. "I can't have you sleeping on the stone floor." She explains.
"Right well it's this way." She heads into the kitchen.

((It's a bit hard to explain the exact layout of the rooms with a diagram so bare with me.))
The kitchen has been done in that modern 'cottage' look. All the white goods, fridge, oven, etc, are err.... white. While there are decorative brass pots and pans hanging from the ceiling around the edges of the walls. The sink still has washing up in it. ((the horror! ))
"Excuse the mess, you'll just have to take me as you find me." D says guiltily.

She opens a small door on the left (which would have the main stairs on the otherside) which reveals some steps heading down. The slanted doorframe indicates that this leads underneath the main staircase.
((does that make sense? ))

*he smirks a little to himself and wonders if she realizes how funny it sounded* I've had experience with sleeping on stone floors. It's not that bad. *he looks over at her as he heads down the stairs into the cellar*

D heads down the small steps. She reachs to turn on the light switch but thinks better of it. She's lived her all her life so she knows where everything is, even in the gloom.

The room isn't particularly big, about 10 by 8 feet. The walls here are all bare stone slabs, the floor is also covered with them. A large wine rack extends across the left and back wall but it's a least half empty.
"Well what kind of host would I be if I let you do that?" She says.

*he looks around at the setup. And a little stone cell for me. How nastalgic. He gives a wan smile.* Yes, this will do fine. *he turns to her with his eyes cast downward* Thankyou for letting me stay. I don't know what sort of host...

"A bad one, that's what kind. There isn't even a bed or anything." She looks about wondering what to do with the blanket she's bought. Having been raised looking after guests she's a little lost at having one that doesn't want any of the usual comforts.
"I feel bad there isn't anything down here. If you do decide to drop in every so often I'll bring down one of the mattresses."

It's fine. I appreciate your hospitality. *he lies down on the stone floor with his hands behind his head and stares upward, his dark glasses hiding his eyes*
