Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
"Yes, to the clinic," Eirnae replies softly, encouraging Lenore to lean against her as they head for the bedroom doorway. Eirnae pauses once they reach the door frame, turning to smile at Eira and Ahlian. Both had stayed still, not sure of what to do next, an amazing feat for both.

"Well, ladies? Coming or not?" Eirnae asks teasingly, "We'll need both of you, of course. Your help is greatly appreci..." She doesn't get any further with her words, as once she said 'Coming' Eira squealed with glee and zipped through the air to hug Eirnae's head, covering up the moon elf's face with her fuzzy body while the Mii's tiny silver locket smacks Eirnae between the eyes.

Delightful.

Eirnae turns and doesn't even attempt to pry her Mii off of her face, as her arms are again rather busy already. She doesn't stumble, as she went through complete darkness training before receiving her dark vision, though having Eira glomped about her head is rather discerning. Luckily Eira gets the idea that hugging EIrnae's head isn't necessarily the best thing to do, especially right now, so she lets go and flits to sit on Eirnae's head instead.

Ahlian chuckles before grabbing the garment bag with Lenore's secondary outfit, closing the closet doors after. She follows the odd trio at a safe distance, just in case the group ahead of her makes any quick stops.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore is moving slowly, as she is reminding herself to breathe.

"Are the girls going to be there?" she asks, biting her lower lip as a few drops of sweat start to form on her brow. "Shina and Nyoka?" she clarifies, though she is sure she doesn't need to.

She doesn't know if she wants her daughters to see her in labor . . . it might scare them away from having children of their own. Especially since she knows that labor times vary . . . how long will she take?

Not time to think, she is gritting her teeth again.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
"Calavel is teleporting us there," Eirnae says with confidence as they start down the stairs, upping her concentration on steadying Lenore even more as they tackle one step at a time. Eirnae tries to explain to Lenore in elven, "No, Shina and Vinyn aren't going, Lovely. I asked Alimus to send them to see Cyoro when we knew this would happen. I don't want Shina to experience the pain of childbirth until the proper time. As for Nyoka...I do not know."

Eira nestles more comfortably into Eirnae's hair, not trying to be a distraction, just finding something to occupy her thoughts as she waits for a moment when she can be useful again. Ahlian remains behind the main trio, going down the stairs at a pace that matches theirs.

Alimus is done with the preparations, and not a moment too soon. He grabs the haversack and slides it over one arm, then the other, settling it against his back as the group reaches the bottom of the stairs. "Are we ready to go?" he asks plainly, eyeing the front door.

"Give them a moment, Alimus," Ahlian replies for Eirnae and Lenore, pausing three steps behind them.

"Don't worry, Ahlian," Eirnae counters, looking over to Alimus as she inquires, "Is everything ready? Has Calavel arrived yet?"

As if in response, the sounds of a key turning in the front door are evident. The door is swung open in the next moment, the dark elven priestess framed in the doorway by the sunny day outside. "I see that I'm not too late," Calavel quips with a small smirk, walking forward to shut the door behind her. "To the living room, if you please," she tosses over her shoulder as she heads that way without looking back.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore is glaring at everyone now, taking deep, timed breaths. It is so lovely when everyone seemed to find humor in your pain.

She leans heavily on her love as she is led to the living room. "Please, gods, let this end soon," she whispers the prayer to herself, closing her eyes again.

As an afterthought, as though she has just heard Eirnae's reply, she shakes her head. "No, love, I do not wish Nyoka to attend. She does not need to see this either. . . ."

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Calavel directs everyone into a circle around her, counting heads as each person gets into position. "One, two, three, four, five, and six? Well, this shouldn't be too difficult," she murmurs, switching her dialect to Drow as her hands starts the seies of gestures required for a Group Teleport spell.

"Be calm, my love," Eirnae says soothingly in elven, smoothing back the stray hairs from Lenore's face with a gentle gloved hand, "It will be over before you know it, and once we get there I have some chocolate packed for you if you want it. Water, too."

Eira fidgets, watching Calavel's flowing motions with wary eyes. "Eira no like magic," the Mii grumbles, laying down on Eirnae's head to bury her face in the moon elf's dark blond hair.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore leans on Eirnae even more now, feeling as if her legs are going to buckle, and she shakes her head, forcing the pain from her thoughts. "Water would be good. Suprisingly, I don't think I could eat right now," she says, moving a hand to her stomach, willing the baby to just hold off a little longer.

She smiles slightly at Eira's comment. "You live in a house with me and you do not like magic?" she teases, trying to push her fears back as well. This is scary business. What if their son were still-born, or if she died while giving birth?

She turns paler than usual, which is quite strange as her skin is already white. . . .

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Eira meeps, her eyes getting big as she realizes that she said what she did out loud. She hurriedly squeaks out a reply, "No! No, no, 'Nore! Eira likes 'Nore's magic, just not sure of THIS person's magic." Eira mrews in panic when Calavel takes the time to send a withering glance the Mii's way, this proving to not be the best laid out introduction between the two.

Calavel finishes her spell, both hands interlocking in front of her as she says the final words to unleash the magic she had been gathering into the area, "Ori'gato ol tlu xunor!" (Let it be done!) The room seems to flicker in and out of being for those involved in the spell, a side effect that Calavel allows to happen to mostly everyone. In Lenore's case, nothing happens save for she was in the living room of the cottage at one point, and the next she's in the waiting room of the clinic with Eirnae and all the rest by her.

"We have an appointment!" Eirnae declares as she starts to guide Lenore towards the double doors leading further into the clinic, "Get Dr. Kamiki for us, please!"

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore is not even given the chance to answer Eira before is being led through the double doors. She makes a note to talk to her later.

In the meantime, she is giving the receptionist the glare of death. And, the receptionist, seeing the state Lenore is in, hurries to lead them to a room.

She helps Eirnae help Lenore onto the "bed" and bustles out, saying Dr. Kamiki will be with them momentarily.

"Bloody well hurry!" Lenore cries after her, more beads of sweat forming on her brow and upper lip, her cheeks still glistening with tears.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
"Now love, try to remain calm. I know it must hurt... If only I could take your pain unto my self I would," Eirnae fusses worriedly in elven, gesturing to Alimus to take off the haversack and get out the items within for Lenore immediately. She offers Lenore her left gloved hand to grip, dabbing a handkerchief into a bowl of cool water with her right that Eira helpfully got off the top of Eirnae's head to pour from one of the chilled water bottles.

"I'm here, beloved, and I'm staying with you," she continues in elven as the others are shooed out of the room by the newly arrived head nurse, only Calavel and Eira remaining. Eira snuggles into Lenore's pillow by the half-elf's head, giving the nurse a determined glare, while Calavel merely has to cross her arms over her chest and shoot the nurse a 'You want to say that again?' look to convince the human nurse to leave her alone.

When the nurse starts to do her assessment of Lenore's current condition, Calavel 'hmphs' and waits till the nurse moves out of her way to do her own check. "You will be fine, abbil," (friend) she assures Lenore, hands gently probing the flesh of Lenore's belly. "The child is strong, and he should be born before the day is out. If you will allow, I shall pray for a quick delivery, then bless the boy upon his emergance."

Eirnae nods once, then looking down to her beloved even as she starts to dab Lenore's forehead and cheeks with the now wet handkerchief, "Please, love...it would mean much to me."

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"Calm?" Lenore asks, her voice high-pitched. "I was calmer when we faced my father!" she says. But, she bites her lower lip, and forces herself to make an effort to take some calming breaths. It would do no good for her to freak out right now.

Lenore glares at the nurse when she starts to shoo everyone out of the room. Can't she see she needs her family with her?

As if on cue, Lucius appears in the room. The nurse blinks at him, but he gives her a look that says he is clearly not going anywhere.

Lenore starts crying again, and smiles gratefully to Lucius, as he looks, worried, at his mistress.

Lenore listens carefully to what Calavel has to say, and Eirnae. She nods. "Anything for you, love, and you Calavel," she says, managing another smile for the both of them.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Alimus now re-enters the room after making sure that the irritated Ahlian was seated and calmed in the waiting room. 'No sense in her getting all of us thrown out of here by transforming and taking a chunk out of the nurse,' he mentally mutters as he closes the door after him. Quickly he turns and lifts an eyebrow when he notes that those within the room had gained another body. "Lucius, glad you could make it," Alimus rumbles, smiling as he moves to lean against the wall behind Eirnae, "Was afraid you wouldn't show."

Eirnae feels the ripple of Alimus's feelings regarding the fact that Lucius had almost beaten him to seeing the newborn cub, for if Ahlian had not calmed down he would still be outside the room keeping her at bay. Eirnae chuckles at this, knowing that Alimus can feel her amusement at his little gripe. Her attention then goes to Calavel as her mentor begins her prayer for mother and child, both hands held palm down just over Lenore's belly with the fingers spread out.

"All will be well, lovely," Eirnae murmurs in elven with Calavel's melodic prayer taking up the background, the words seeming to flow gracefully despite being in the harsh Drow tongue. "Here, have some water," Eirnae offers as she glances up to nod to Eira, who had flown over the crouched moon elf's head to grab a water bottle at the mentioning of 'water'. Eira pushes up the pop-top of the bottle and leans it down to brush the tip of it against Lenore's lips, "Drink, 'Nore?" she asks hopefully.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"I wouldn't miss this for the world, Alimus," Lucius smiles before he maneuvers around Calavel to be by Lenore's side, and to hold her free hand.

Lenore lifts her head as she listens to Calavel's words, and she takes a drink of the water offered her. "Thank you, Eira. I needed that."

Then, Lenore is gripping Eirnae's and Lucius' hands as a more painful contraction hits her. She grits her teeth and breathes in a hiss-like manner. She does, indeed, hiss something, in snake tongue, that makes Lucius blink.

Her neck and shoulders are now coevered in sweat and the neck of her gown is damp and plastered to her body, as are stray strands of her hair to her face. She has her eyes closed again, as she breathes steadily now, trying to brace herself for another contraction.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
"Where is the doctor?!" Eirnae demands of the head nurse, a definate scowl on her usually calm face, "Why isn't she in here yet!?!"

"She is on her way," the nurse replies, not about to lose her ground in front of anyone, even if Eirnae obviously has a large sword strapped to her back.

"Well she had best arrive soon, as I don't want the baby born BEFORE she decides to arrive," Eirnae growls, Alimus adding his own low growl to her declaration for additional threat value. Out in the waiting room Ahlian also echoes it, though it only serves to make the attendant at her desk look up curiously.

Eira ignores everyone else in the room but Lenore, taking the handkerchief from atop Lenore's pillow where Eirnae abandoned it and flying over to resoak it before coming back to fuss over Lenore's sweaty face by dabbing at it fondly.

Calavel's prayers continue, her words escalating into a calming song. She seems unbothered by all of the commotion, her eyes closed as she keeps her attention on her words for her goddess.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Kamiki
The time has come, and Lenore's water breaks one afternoon. She is rushed to the hospital and given a room...not knowing how long labor usually takes. For Lenore, about 4 hours. The pain is... well, bad, but the doctors and nurses keep assuring her that she's actually getting it pretty easy. Easy for them to say.

But regardless, exactly 4 hours, 22 minutes and 31 seconds of labor, your son is born.

Everytime she hears the pain is not bad, Lenore growls and stares at the offender, her teeth bared as she hisses all sorts of insults at them in the snake tongue, some of them so colorful, they leave Lucius blushing.

And, Lucius is very sure that, had she the same power Nyoka had, Lenore's eyes would be glowing amber and those foolish enough to tell her that she is getting an easy birth would be statues by now.

His poor hand is throbbing, and he is pretty sure he might need it looked at, as he heard some bones cracking. . . . Though he remains strong, making no move to pull his hand from hers, or to cry out in pain.

Lenore is sweating horribly, and hissing in breath. This is the worst she has ever felt, and it only seems to be getting worse.

When the nurse finally tells her she is dialated enough to push at the next contraction, Lenore cries tears of relief.

So, when the next contraction comes, she pushes, the vein in her neck pushing to the surface of her skin in her efforts, as do the ones at her temples. She has her jaw clenched so tightly that she feels as though her teeth might break. And Eirnae's and Lucius' hands are being assualted harder than ever before in Lenore's grip.

It takes her four pushes before the doctor (( didn't know if we could use you, Kamiki xd )) tells her to stop pushing.

Lenore, trembling with exhaustion, collapses back onto the pillow, closing her eyes again.

They quickly snap open when she hears the cry of her and her love's son. She sits back up, looking at Eirnae before turning her blood-shot amber eyes to the doctor, and the bundle in her arms.

Instinct has her letting go of the hands she probably broke, and reaching out to show that she wants to hold her baby. Calavel could do what she needed to after Lenore holds her son.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Eirnae grits her teeth while trying to keep her jaw from jutting out noticably, even if her hand is hurting in all kinds of interesting ways. She feels she must be strong for Lenore, she must not complain, even if Lenore snaps her hand off at the wrist, however unlikely.

Alimus walks up behind Eirnae and reaches forward to grab hold of his mistress's aching wrist, wrapping his fingers around it like a brace. Eirnae smiles but doesn't look over to him, all of her attention on her beloved as Lenore hisses in pain.

Eira mews her concern, opting to stand over Lenore's head during the whole process and fan the half-elf's face with her feathered wings. She keeps it up at a steady pace even after the baby is born, for about...oh...three seconds. Then she realizes that her new charge has been granted life, and she squeals with delight, her wings going even faster as she tries to restrain herself from zipping over to the now bundled up baby and hugging him.

Upon hearing the first cry of their son, Eirnae beams with pride. "He's so beautiful, Lenore," she says in elven, the tone of her voice revealing the glowing warmth in her heart, "I'm so proud of you...I'm so very happy for our family!" The moon elf is in tears, Alimus hugging her from behind with his left hand still curled about her wrist, grinning merrily at the joy in his mistress's heart as well as his own.

Calavel steps up to take the baby from the doctor gently, walking towards the side of the bed again to lean down and hand the child to Lenore. "When you are ready," she murmurs to the new mother in elven, "I will perform the blessing. However, family comes first."

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore takes the boy in her arms and craddles him, cooing to him, and crying in happiness, pride, relief. "Thank you, Calavel," she says, smiling at her before turning to Eirnae.

"I could not have said it better myself, love," she says, beaming. She rocks their son in her arms a little before giving him a kiss on his forehead, and offering him to Eirnae, so that he may see his other mum, and so that she may take a closer look at their little miracle. "And I am very proud of you as well. You've been wonderful through all of this."

Lucius is tucking the strands plastered to the side of Lenore's face behind her ear, and smiling at her. She looks at him, gratefully. Her eyes telling him that she is very thankful for him being there with her, for her. He nods, and looks at the baby boy, feeling a sort of mixture of a fatherly pride, and the pride of an uncle, looking on his nephew.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Eirnae is glad to take their son from Lenore's arms, suddenly twice as grateful for her past experiences with Shina and Vinyn for this moment. She isn't afraid to hold the small boy in her arms, cradling him to her chest securely in his soft blue blanket. 'Well, there's one good thing about us having a boy,' she chuckles in her head, 'He doesn't have to suffer a pink blanket.'

"Welcome to the world, little herald of joy," Eirnae murmurs in elven to the baby in her arms lovingly, Alimus removing her left glove for her before she even has to ask so she can lightly brush her bare fingertips across her son's right cheek. 'Thank you, my friend,' Eirnae sends through her link to Alimus, turning so he too can admire the baby, 'What do you think of our son?'

'He is a strong cub,' Alimus comments, using the terminology of his usual form for such a young life, 'I look forward to watching him grow.'

'As do I, as do I,' Eirnae replies, turning back to face the bed again, lifting up the precious baby in her arms to kiss his forehead fondly. She is delighted when she hears a soft coo from the little boy, her attempting to rub noses with him only resulting in still more cooing. "Such a sweet boy," she croons to him, leaning forward to put the baby back in Lenore's arms.

"What shall we call him, Lenore?" Eirnae asks quietly, going over the many names that they had discussed but never settled on.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore's teary eyes take in the scene with their son and her love. And she gratefully takes him back into her arms, holding one of his tiny hands in hers.

She looks at the scales he inherited from her, and her nose, and shakes her head, still grinning. "I narrowed my list of names down to my favorite," she says, looking back up at Eirnae happily, even if it is a tired-happy. "I think he looks like a Damien," she says, just as she turns to look back at her son. He's the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. "What do you think, love?" she asks, both Eirnae and the baby.

When the boy coos, Lenore chuckles, and pokes his nose gently.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Eirnae leans down to kiss Lenore's forehead, nodding her acceptance of the name. "It suits him, love. A wise choice, indeed." She glances over to Alimus, who nods and heads for the door to the room, intent on fetching Ahlian so she too can meet the new baby.

"What of his middle name, Lenore? I would like him to have an elven name of some type, beyond that of my half of our surname." Eirnae moves to sit down on the edge of the bed, her left hand going to rest atop Lenore's right. "What do you think of the name Casnes*?"

*Elven for Herald of the Moon

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"What do you think, Damien?" Lenore asks the boy, smiling. He coos again and she nods. "Alright, love. Damien Casnes Slytherin-Natenhar. Such a long name for a tiny boy," she says, squeezing Eirnae's hand after she takes it in her own. "Almost like you are royalty, huh, Little Prince? You'll grow into it soon enough, I ecpect, won't you Damien?"

Lucius sits back, his blue eyes on Damien. He only lifts his eyes long enough to watch Alimus leave the room.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
Eirnae gives Lenore's hand a return squeeze, her eyes lit up by her inner pride at how wonderful their son is and her hope for his bright future. "Our Little Prince, mm?" she asks Lenore teasingly, winking down at the woman who rules her heart.

Alimus comes back into the room not long after he left, Ahlian running in behind him with her hands behind her back. "Is the pup born? Is he? Yes, he is! I can smell him!" she squeals, coughing when she gets a 'look' from Alimus. "Sorry, excited..." More calm now, Ahlian walks forward to stand less than a foot from the bed, not coming any closer as if she is too shy to approach. "Miss Lenore?" she asks quietly, her eyes currently glued to Damien and no one else, "I got the pup a present..." Slowly Ahlian moves the green teddy she had been hiding behind her back to be in front of her, holding it up for mother and child to judge.

Eira, who has been right by Lenore's head this entire time trying to restrain herself from smothering the baby with hugs and face rubs, claps her paws together at the sight of the teddy bear. "Cute!" she declares with a giggle, her finally giving in to her cuddly urges by prancing around Lenore's head to crawl up the bundled baby's blanket and lay down atop of him, her wings curling about Damien to serve as an extension of her little arms for her hug. The fact that Lenore's arms are also somewhat covered in the process doesn't bother Eira one bit. "Eira love Damien already!" the Mii purrs, her eyes closing as she rubs the side of her left cheek into the soft blanket.

Ahlian snorts at the Mii hogging her spotlight, but knows better than to comment. Eira would just get riled up and try to take the bear from her, most likely. "Do you think he'll like it?" she asks shyly, an attempt to keep Lenore and Damien's attention on her and the bear instead of the warm, fuzzy Mii hugging the baby.

Eirnae chuckles under her breath but decides to leave this one to Lenore to handle. Should things go awry she'll step in, but from the looks and feel of things both Eira and Ahlian only have good intentions.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
Lenore looks up from Damien when she hears her name, and says, "Hmm?" to Ahlian.

When Ahlian shows her gift, Lenore opens her mouth to say something, but is distracted briefly by Eira's cuddling of her arm and Damien. She shakes her head, smiling still, before looking back at Ahlian, and the teddy bear.

Damien looks around at all the new noises curiously, not moving his head, and his eyes fall upon Eira first, before Lenore props him up a little, so that his eyes might look upon Ahlian and the teddy bear. He makes a baby noise, staring at the bear.

Lenore grins, and says, "I think the Little Prince," she says, turning her twinkling eyes to Eirnae briefly before returning them to Ahlian, "finds it a lovely gift, as do I." With that, she reaches out her free hand to take Ahlian's in her own, in a gesture of thanks.

Sundragyn
((*hopes it's okay to post*))

A package is delivered by Sunny's rather grouchy brother. He drops it on the doorstep, rings the doorbell, and heads off without bothering to find out if anyone's home.

"Gonna kill Ali... not her freaking message boy..."

User Image

Note from Sunny
Congratulations! I picked up a small present for Damien, hope you don't mind.

-Sunny

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
(( Aww! heart Thank you, Sundragyn! We'll rp finding the gift when they get home. *HUG* ))

Ahlian's smile broadens as she nods in reponse to the positive reaction, unsure of what else to do other than return Lenore's hand squeeze with one of her own. She steps forward to shoo Eira to the side with her teddy bear occupied hand, the Mii reluctantly giving up her embrace about Damien's bundled form. Ahlian then gently places the bear next to Damien so he can examine it with his hands if he wants to.

Damien makes a curious noise, one hand freeing itself from the confines of his blanket to curl its tiny fingers around one of the bear's ears. Promptly Damien gurgles another coo as he tries to drag the bear up closer to his mouth, with minimal success.

"He likes it, he really does," Ahlian murmurs happily, beaming down to Lenore as if she had just accomplished a miracle. Alimus cannot help but chuckle at Ahlian's delight at seeing Damien so taken with his bear, coming forward to place a hand on Ahlian's shoulder. "You thought he wouldn't?" he asks her teasingly, getting a sheepish grin from Ahlian in response.

"That was very sweet of you, Ahlian," Eirnae comments with a warm smile, her feeling Ahlian's joy and feeding it to Alimus, the three of them a conduit for each others' emotions. "I'm glad that someone got our Little Prince a teddy bear, as I was considering doing so myself."

Eirnae's words only cause Ahlian's inner pride to swell more, till she is close to floating up and hitting the ceiling. "Thank you, Eirnae," she replies with a true smile, her sheepishness forgotten.

"Most welcome, my bond mate," Eirnae says with an understanding wink, knowing that Ahlian had been nervous about the baby's arrival ever since first learning of it. "Now, I think that Lenore and Damien need some rest," Eirnae decides, getting up from her seat at the edge of the bed to gesture with both arms for everyone to leave. "You can come in and see them later, alright?" she offers when Ahlian gives her a sad look. "Let's go, my friends, out the door..." she continues as she ushers Alimus and Ahlian out of the room, turning and motioning for Lucius to join the others in the waiting room. "A bit of time with my lady, Lucius?" she asks politely, not ceasing her gesturing.

Eira had managed to squirrel her way underneath Lenore's pillow, her wings wrapped about herself carefully so they wouldn't get squished. With any luck she wouldn't be remembered or spotted, and then she could stay with Lenore and the baby once everyone else is gone.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
(( What a sweet little plushie, Sunny *HUG* ))

Lenore blinks when Eirnae starts ushering everyone out of the room. But, she is grateful non-the-less. She is exhausted.

Lucius smiles politely to Eirnae and stands, leaning forward to kiss both Damien's and Lenore's feoreheads before turning his attention to Eirnae as well. "Of course, Miss. Eirnae," he says, inclining his head a little to her before walking happily out of the door.

Lenore lets out a long breath and leans back on the pillow heavily, mindful of Damien in her arms. "Thank you, love," she murmers, smiling tiredly and looking at Eirnae with droopy-lidded eyes. "Come, sit on the bed with me?"

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
"Of course, love," Eirnae replies after giving Lucius a repectful nod on his way out the door, closing it behind him with a soft 'click'.

She strides to the side of the bed, pausing after glancing about for a few moments. Quickly Eirnae bends to slide her right arm underneath Lenore's pillow, grabbing hold of Eira to pull the Mii out of her hiding place. "And just what are you doing under there?" Eirnae asks with a bemused smile, her right eyebrow raised.

Eira smiles at Eirnae, reaching up and grabbing hold of either side of Eirnae's available wrist as she admits, "Want stay?"

The shadowdancer proceeds to surprise Eira by smiling and carrying her over, still latched onto her wrist, to set the Mii down by Lenore's head. "I need someone to stay and watch over my two treasures, Eira, so it looks as though you have been elected." Eirnae winks down at Lenore before she sits down on the edge of the bed and gathers one of her love's hands into her own.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
"Yes, Eira," Lenore smiles, her eyes threatening to close. "It would be an honor if you stayed and kept watch over us."

She squeezes Eirnae's hand. "And, perhaps you too, love?" she asks, yawning.

After a few moments, though, she sees that her eyes are not going to stay open, and she gives in, drifting off to sleep, holding Damien close to her heart.

Eirnae Slytherin-Natenhar
"I'll stay here with you," Eirnae whispers quietly, leaning over to kiss the sleeping Lenore's forehead and then Damien's as the baby joins his mother in her journey into slumber. She keeps true to her word, though it is much easier for the five foot, one inch moon elf to move and spoon up to her fiance' after removing her sheathed b*****d sword from across her back as well as her leather jacket. She keeps her boots on and the hidden dagger in one of them, however. Being an elf who has already gotten in her four hours of trance for the day, Eirnae doesn't need to sleep. She simply knows that this contact will comfort her beloved more than if she had chosen to sit by Lenore's side for the coming hours.

Eira goes to lay down atop of Damien's blanket, her wings settling over him protectively. In her way of thinking, if anyone wants to harm her mistress's 'Little Prince' they will have to get through her first. Of course she isn't as diligent in her guarding of the two mothers and their baby as she would like, as the Mii slowly drifts off to sleep.

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar

Damien has finally arrived! And, let me tell you, I am the happiest woman in the world: I have the most beautiful and loving fiancee in the world, and the most perfect child anyone could ever hope for.

The first day with Damien was active. We took him around, had him meet the rest of the family. Nyoka actually indulged me, allowing me to hand him to her. He promptly stuck a chunk of her hair in his mouth. She was not pleased, and handed Damien back to me before bolting for a bath.

And she has been avoiding him since.

Life with Damien so far has been nice. He does tend to scream his little head off whenever he wants to, loudly might I add. It hurts my sensitive ears. So, he gets what he wants, and gets it then.

He seems to have taken a liking to Ahlian's gift, even sleeps close to it. I am sure that makes Ahlian very pleased.

And, wherever Damien goes, it is a sure bet you will see Eira not far behind. She is taking her protection of him very seriously, and is always with him. She talks to him and he stares at her patiently. It is rather sweet.

Our Little Prince. That is my pet name for him. I know, it is rather strange, but I thought it amusing at the time. His name is so long, it is almost royal, and that is how it started. And he is a prince, in my eyes at least. I love him more than my very life, as I do all of my children, and my love.

But, I can't help but feel that this happy time might be short-lived, at least for me. I can't explain it, and I don't want to think about it.

Would you believe they let us take Lenore home once she was rested up? I had heard this nasty rumor that hospitals keep women who just gave birth in the hospital for weeks, even months, at a time afterwards. Thank the Lady it wasn't true, even if our new home is far from complete.

I'm about ready to go and find a willing dragon to occanionally roast the rear ends of the construction crew, if it would just get them moving faster. They are over the time limit, and have been for the last week. With the kind of gold we are spending, they should be coming to work first thing in the morning and leave right before my Lady's moon makes its appearance in the sky. I know they have families they want to spend time with, but it is hard to be understanding when you are in a cottage that was built for a certain amount of beings, and the limit was exceeded a while ago. We don't even have a nursery to put our Damien in right now! He'll have to spend tonight in the bed with us, and I cannot stress how risky that is, even if I don't tend to move during my trance.

Heh, speaking of Damien, I'm really going to have to find a way to keep Lenore (and everyone else in the house with sensitive ears) to stop giving in whenever he starts to wail for something. 'Little Prince' or not, I won't let him become spoiled. It will take some doing, as sometimes even I want to cave just so he will be quiet. Perhaps a reward system...

Oh yes, and the truly heart-warming sight of the day? Damien, sitting down and tilting his head, listening to Eira chatter away. He's so sweet with her, acting as though he understands her completely. Of course I'm fairly sure if he had the ability he would do the classic 'smile and nod' manuver, as it is likely he doesn't understand even half of what Eira says. Still, it is nice to see him having taken a liking to his 'devoted protector'.

July 14, 2004. (Morning)

Damien slept with Eirnae and I last night. It was sweet. When Nyoka was a baby, she slept in the same bed as me, so I just went back to the old habits (as it wasn't that long ago) of just not moving in my sleep.

He woke us up around three in the morning, wanting to be fed. I was so tired, but I could not give this task off to Eirnae, as I am breast feeding him. I couldn't very well say: "Here love, grab a breast and stick it in his mouth while I go back to sleep."

So, I sat up and placed him in my arms and let him have his fill, trying not to nod off.

He woke me up again, two hours later, wailing over needing his diaper changed. So, we obliged, of course. He cannot sit there in soiled nappies! No, not my Little Prince.

And that is such a horrible thing to do. . . .

The house . . . gods, will Eirnae and I be married before it is completed? Today, I am turning Damien over to my love and going around the cottage, magicking all of the rooms to be much bigger. But, there is only so much I can do. It still won't be big enough to house all of us.

It is not until you are in a small cottage that you realize you have a large family.

What a strange accumulation of emotions I have felt this morning. First, I was startled out of my trance by Damien's pitiful cries. I mean this, you have not heard the depths of sorrow till you have listened to my son on a roll. I have been present for an elven funeral dirge, and his vocals can be more depressing that even that haunting song. Now THAT is skill.

Anyway, the second feeling was, of course, frustration. I wanted to reach over and promptly hit Damien's snooze button. Yes, I have an alarm clock. Yes, I use it. No, my son doesn't have a snooze button. I checked. Gently, but I checked.

The third of the morning was the strangest of all. Jealousy of my son for getting to his mother's n****e before my fuzzy brain could even register the possibility of trying for one. I hope this isn't a pattern, because those are MINE tomorrow morning. At least I had an opportunity later today to make up for it.

The rest of my day? I watched over Damien, mostly encouraging him to play with Vinyn in a game of tic-tac-toe, while Lenore enlarged the cottage walls. Later she told me she was trying to expand the rooms to make the cottage, and I quote, more 'roomy'. I don't think she expected me to have to nab Vinyn and Damien to prevent them from being covered with rubble from the wall above them exploding. You can imagine the guilt on Lenore's face, and I don't think my flaring of temper helped much. We made up later on, with Ahlian and Alimus watching over the little ones.

I've made her promise to warn the family next time she starts a project like that. I'm sure that on a normal day she would have performed every task perfectly, but her magic has been rather out of whack as of late, not to mention her giving birth just yesterday. I do believe I am going to marry a work-a-holic, like myself. Thank Eilistraee that I still have my playful side, as does she, else I think we would work each other to death.

I screwed up. Big time. And, you can imagine how frustrating this all is for me!

Dammit!

Maybe I should start from the beginning, right? Well, I did go through with my plans of enlarging the cottage. I was on the last room, THE LAST DAMN ROOM, when my magic decides it wants to screw up. . . . AGAIN. I blew the wall up. It just exploded. EXPLODED! I could have killed someone!

Gods . . . I don't even want to pick up my wand again . . . never. To think, I could have killed Vinyn, Eirnae, or even Damien?

I am a horrible mother. I am a horrible lover. I should have thought! My magic would not have miraculously gone back to normal a day afer giving birth.

And, my love. She was angry. I fixed the wall, but I think I scared her. Seeing her angry tore at me.

No, that wand shall never enter my hands again. . . .

The only good thing about today was when Eirnae and I made up. It was a comfort to know that, even after I almost killed two of our children, she would still want me.

I was embarassed, of course, over my lactating. I was so embarassed that I almost stopped our nice little make up. But, my love didn't seem phased at all. I think it actually made her more excited.

I don't think I am embarassed so much by it anymore. . . .

July 15, 2004.

I think Damien waking me up every morning is going to become a ritual. The same times, every morning. And he doesn't seem to want to go to sleep early either. I just don't get any sleep. When I do finally drift off, it is uneasier than ever. I woke up every half hour last night. It is a wonder I have the energy to write this.

But, I wouldn't trade Damien for anything in the world. He, and the rest of my family, are the lights of my life right now, and they give me all the energy I need to keep going.

Save for any quality time Eirnae and I might have tried to have. It pains me to say this, but I was too tired to even think about going into the bedroom with my love. But, I did. And once she laid me down, I passed out. I passd out!

I will try to make it up to her later . . . when I have had more sleep.

Anyway, Damien seems to be taking to Vinyn and Eira very well. He also met Dezdemona today. She has been away, doing whatever rituals she does. She was, and still is, Nyoka's tutor. Damien seemed to like her too. He seems to take to people, once he sees that his mums trust them completely. He seems to contain in him an inner sight that is beyond his years, and he has not even reached a year yet! He suprises me. . . . Though, I suppose with a mother like Eirnae, I should not be suprised.

And, much to Nyoka's dispair, Damien seems to like sucking on her hair. She just can't stomach it. She can go outside, train all day, come inside with dirt all over her, sweaty. When it is raining, she will trail mud into the house. She's come home with blood in her hair, on her skin (and bits of skin under her claws from the time she "punished" Taka). But, a little baby drool and she gets queasy. . . .

(( hope its okay to post =))

Sati looked at the small piece of paper that her mother had given her, checking the address. Well this was definately it, she thought as she approached the house. Sayuri had asked her daughter to deliver a gift to Lenore and Eirnae as she found it difficult to do so herself whilst looking after Rhiannon. Sati knocked on the front door, and when no answer was forthcoming tucked the gift, and attached card carefully on the front step.

Card

Dear Lenore and Eirnae,
I'm sorry I have not sent this earlier, but I'm sure you understand how much children take your time up! I am sending this to congratulate you on the birth of your wonderful little son, Damien ( Rhiannon and he must meet soon! ). I hope this finds the three of you well.

Drac walks quietly up to the house, setting a small package by the door before ringing the bell and running off. There's a note attached to the outside of the package.

Note
Dear Lenore, Eirnae, and Damien;

Much love and congratulations on the birth of your little boy. I had a few scraps of green, black and... well I had a lot of fabric scraps lying around and I thought I'd put them to good use. I hope that Damien enjoys this. Best wishes.

Sincerely,
Drac

PS: I had a friend who has some practical magic knowledge put a charm on it so it won't rip or fall apart. Thought it might need that concidering what I've heard about you little bundle's tendancies with toys and hair.

Inside the package is a small plushie...

Akina Tokuwa
The breeze whispered through the trees and high grass as a shadow passed by the sleeping homes and nests. It moved soundlessly, stirring a few leaves in its wake. Without warning, the figure paused, dropping a leather sack onto the doorstep of a dimly lit home. Just as it came, it went, leaving only the small package behind.

Dear Eirnae and Lenore,

From one elf-booded woman to two others, I want to wish you both and your new child all the luck and blessings in the world. It brings me great joy to see a new generation of elves emerging.

I hope this trinket will bring your child protection, a bit of old elvish magic for nostalgia.

With admiration,
Akina Tokuwa

Upon opening the leather sack, the two parents will discover a small piece of elven finery.

I think it is very ironic that Damien seems to now have a habit of waking up, noisily might I add, during the hours of which I am in trance. Right at the crack of three am, he is wailing for Lenore to wake up and feed him. I've given up on the possible snooze button idea. Would you believe I actually brought the subject up with Calavel this afternoon? She shot me a look I won't forget anytime soon. I think I may have convinced my mentor that I am either very sleepy and can't think straight as a result... or a pyscho. Maybe even both.

I've decided that something needs to be done about this. His timing is definately off, and costing Lenore sleep. When my luscious half-elf, who would normally jump me at the drop of a hat, is too tired for a bit of cuddling, there is a problem. Forget the fact that I myself am not in top form, my Lenore needs sleep. I'll bring this up with Lenore, once she's done with her nap, and ask what can be done. Lady knows that we have enough folk in this cottage to help take care of Damien while Lenore rests. I don't want her to take everything unto herself.

Anyway, I am pleased with how Damien gets along with those of the family that have approached him. Vinyn in particular seems very fond of him, showing him her favorite games and trying to teach him the intricate rules of each. I don't think he quite gets every detail, but for being so young he does surprisingly well. Perhaps I have another fast learner on my hands?

Shina came home today from Cyoro's. Apparently she had opted to stay for a bit longer to take some time training with Throwyn. I'll admit that notion tossed me for a loop when she mentioned it. Shina favors her staff over any other weapon, so picturing her holding Throwyn's katana and taking instruction didn't register with me at first. Hells, it still isn't sitting well with my mind even now. Once she got done telling me about her days with Throwyn, a mish mash of sword training and learning how to prepare Japanese dishes, she walked right over to Damien and scooped him up into her arms. I half expected Damien to bap her on the nose with his green teddy bear, which he had a solid hold of with his left hand at the time, but he didn't. Instead he opted for a long coo, offering up his bear for Shina's inspection. Where is an artist when you need one? That moment would have made the cutest painting I've ever seen!

Well, time for me to get Lenore some tea and a bit of a snack for when she wakes up.

(( Sorry for the late responses on the gifts. Eirnae and I are pulling a lovely Fa'e RP Time-Warp here, and posting it so that all of the lovely gifts that all of you wonderful people have left for Damien, and us as well, arrived on this day. heart ))

Godsdamn my clumsiness! I blame lack of sleep, I tell you. It is my exhaustion that had me being so supid.

Yes, I was on my way out the door, without Damien this time, as Shina and Nyoka said they would watch him for a bit. No sooner had I stepped out of the door did I catch my foot on something. I cried out, and fell to the floor on my front.

My breasts are already sore, and I felt, and still feel, like they are going to explode. Nursing Damien has been very uncomfortable this day, I will say that.

What, do you ask, caused my fall? First, let me note, I do not blame these lovely people. I blame myself completely for my carelessness, for not bothering to watch where I was going, as I was distracted calling out instructions to my two teenage daughters.

The cause of my fall was the lovely plushie that Sundragyn left for Damien. It is the cutest little plushie you could ever think of!

Now, among the other culprits were several other parcels, two of which were intended for my love and I. First, there was a charming white teddy bear holding balloons, one with the legend: "It's a Boy!" written upon it. Our friend, and fellow Fa'e Guardian and new mum, Sayuri (also signed: David, Sati, Silver, and Rhiannon), left the lovely bear for us. Another gift included a beautiful hand-made dragon-type plushie from Drac for our Little Prince. And, one more gift for my love and I: a lovely elvish cloak-clasp from the wonderful Akina Tokuwa. It is simply lovely. I think it reminds Eirnae of home, as I saw a bit of nostalgia in her eyes when she first laid those beautiful sea green eyes on it.

Damien was shown the gifts, and now he insists on having them with him. I do not know how Eirnae and I shall sleep with all those plushies in our bed tonight. It seems the closeness that my love and I used to sleep in is just a memory.

I miss her. I cannot wait to have the home completed, so that Damien may be in his nursery. Is that evil of me? To want to spend a few night alone in bed with my fiancee? I don't know, I feel evil . . . or like a bad mother.

Still . . . when next I see her, I am pouncing. I don't care how tired I am. I still need to make up for when I passed out on her yesterday. . . .

Youkochylde
Youko wanted to get even for the demon baskets... and for the rather pissed-off fox that they'd had to pick from the tree outside. However, he smiled faintly as he held a small scrapbook in his arms, the thin square of pages bulked slightly from the objects held within. While they were relatively flat, they weren't completely so, and they tended to make the book warp slightly.

The book itself had four stiff pages, each with a small charm pinned to it, and a piece of parchment as well, written on with a neat copperplate script.

Written on the cover
If you wish to let these charms help protect your little one, simply use the incantations that I've included and say them as you hang each of the charms in their respective compass quadrant.

Incantation of Water
May the spirits of the East enlighten and guide you. May they bring the soothing calmness and temperance needed for wisdom and compassion.

Water brings with it a new beginning, and a fresh start for weary souls. May your new beginning be blessed by its caress and guarded by its ever-changing tide.

Incantation of Fire
May the spirits of the South enflame and vitalize you. May they bring passion and emotion into your life, letting you taste the richness of its intensity.

Fire cleanses and warms, providing comfort and defense against the night and the unknown. May it illuminate your existance and bring with it the courage and quickness to defend your beliefs.

Incantation of Air
May the spirits of the West compel and invigor you. May they bring the thrill of challenge and wanderlust into your life, giving you the freedom to experience life to its fullest.

Wind brings movement and change, preventing stagnation and dormancy. May its breeze ever be at your back, encouraging you to explore the unknown instead of fearing it.

Incantation of Earth
May the spirits of the North guard and protect you. May they remind you of the safety and warmth of home, and bring you back to those who love you.

Earth is constant, the soil giving life and vitality as it nurtures every living creature you will meet. May its eternal embrace welcome you at the end of your travels and give you life once more.

The fox's claws traced over the cover of the book lightly before leaving it on the doorstep. With a flick of his tail, he is gone once more.

(( Indeed. We both apologize for the lateness, but you have to admit it is much easier this way to respond. *Chuckles* Youko managed to slip in a new gifting post, and my heavens it is a doozy! *Stares* Wow... It's the incantations that really get me. Those are beautifully written! ))

Well, I offered to start tutoring Lenore in the ways of physical defense today. I'm hoping it will help to make her both more aware of her surroundings as well as ease my worry over her should something happen and I am not at home to protect my family. Yes, her magic is formidable, when it works, but I have been through situations when magic was canceled out entirely.

Why the sudden offer to teach her? Oh, Lenore falling over onto her face after tripping on a pile of gifts left at our doorstep I think is a good enough reason. I was in the kitchen getting a snack ready for the children when I heard the shriek. I couldn't even think about getting there in time to watch her fall, much less catch her. Thank the Lady for Alimus, who got there before me to check on Lenore's state of health and then help her up. I believe that Lucius would have been on the scene if he were home, but he was back at Lenore's shop for the afternoon. I'm just glad that she is alright, if a bit sore. I can tell that she is feeling very judgemental over her lack of balance if not depth perception over that incident, and I've tried to bring it up. Ever been shot down mid-sentence? Well, now I have. She did it politely of course, but I was halted just the same.

The gifts are not to blame, of course. It likely would have happened eventually anyway, I'm sorry to say. There was a lovely assortment, all notable in their own way. A sweet little green cat plushie from Lady Sundragyn, a dragonic plushie from Drac that reminds me of a green dragon I met once, and a cute bear with balloons from Sayuri. All are now in our bedroom for easy access for Damien at bedtime. Our bed is now mostly full of plushies and dolls... How we get to sleep with that much between us, I'm not sure. Add Alimus curled up by my feet, Sitha nuzzled up in there somewhere, and Eira stubbornly nestled right next to Damien and you don't have much bed left at all.

Two particular gifts stood out for me, as much as I try not to play favorites with anything. One is the simple yet elegant cloak pin left for us by a elven woman I met only recently, Akina Tokuwa. Upon seeing it my heart immediately felt a pang for home. My grandmother had such a pin for her cloak, one that was charmed to keep the wearer warm and comfortable in all kinds of weather. Upon picking up this offering of friendship I felt that same familiar tingle of magic, a sense one gets after dealing with magic for so as many years as I have. I couldn't help but smile as I recalled what memories I have of my grandmother, glad for this reminder of her as well as the kind sentiment of the gift. The other was the thick book full of scrolls and incantations I found later today. I don't know who sent the gift, though I have my suspicions. I knew after touching each charm within the book that they already carry their own measure of power, but they require the words written down for each to activate it. These were a thoughtful gift indeed, and one I shall store till we are able to move into the new house. I will not waste the magic of these charms on a room that will be left behind. I showed the book to Lenore and explained my intention for the charms within. She seemed puzzled by this form of magic, which got a chuckle out of me. My father, being a ranger, had used magic of this sort now and then in the past, though I cannot write here a single blessing or incantation he used for my lack of personal knowledge on the subject. These charms have the same general 'feel' to them as my father's nature magic, so I find myself trusting that they were sent with good intent. Perhaps I should take Lenore's advice and present them to Calavel to be inspected despite my first impression.

Dare I say that Lenore has been giving me the 'look' today? I passed by the bedroom to fetch some blankets for the girls 'make a tent for the baby' session and happened to glimpse Lenore down the hall looking at me like a hawk eyeing their mate before a mating flight. To be honest I wanted to throw down the blankets and run over and grab her, but that wouldn't be the best behaviour for a mother to do, now would it? Perhaps later if I can get her alone and the children are entertained downstairs...

Lenore Slytherin-Natenhar
July 17, 2004.

Oh, what a glorious morning! The birds are chirping, the sky is blue, the grass is the most vibrant green I have seen it in quite a while! A truly magnificent morning!

Yes, dear diary, I pounced. Not once, but over and over . . . And long into the night. How did we manage, our wonderful stamina put aside, with Damien in the same bed as us? Well, I left some breast milk with Alimus and Lucius, and they kindly took Damien for the night. Lucius practically ordered me to have a full-night's rest, especially when he heard about my falling. He firmly took Damien from my arms, pushed me back into the bedroom I had just left Eirnae in, and told me he and Alimus would look after "the pup" for the night.

Not much rest was had, but isn't it strange how just a night of being with your love can fill you with such energy you feel as though you could go a week without sleep?

Enough of this carnal talk. Though it is likely I could fill several journals with just words of how wonderful it is to be in my love's arms, and what a wonderful woman she is, I shall not do that. What if one of the children stumbled upon it, after all. No, I think I shall not do that.

I did manage to get some rest, though I woke promptly at three, as though Damien had woken me himself. And, I did hear him crying in the room down the hall. It took great will on my part to prevent myself from going in there and scooping him into my arms and whisking him from Lucius' and Alimus' room. It would have offended both Lucius and Alimus, and I would have got a good "talking-to" from Lucius. So, I just turned over and stared at Eirnae. She looks so peaceful, and so beautiful when she trances. I was tempted to try and rouse her, but that would have been horrible of me. I know she has had as little rest as I have, so I let her be. I merely cuddled into her and went back to sleep.

When I came down for breakfast this morning, I was greeted with the most precious sight. Lucius and Alimus were taking turns feeding our Little Prince. Lucius did admit to me that it was a chore, to get him to suck on the bottle at first, as Damien is not used to being bottle-fed, but he assured me it all worked out in the end.

I left Damien in the capable hands of the men of the house, and went to take a much-needed, long, relaxing bath. Halfway through the bath, my love joined me.

All in all, this has been a wonderful morning. We even got to sit down, as a family, at the table, even if it was a bit crowded at the tiny table. Nyoka actually rose early from bed and joined us. It felt good, to sit at the table with everyone, and listen to everyone talk of their plans for the day. It warmed my heart, to see everyone like that. We are a family, and though it does not fill the hole that my parents' death left in my heart, it helps lessen it, and for that, I truly am grateful.

I think we are on to something, though. The girls, Shina and Nyoka that is, are old enough to see to Damien at night, and I am sure Lucius and Alimus would not mind looking after Damien as well, or Dezdemona for that matter. Perhaps I will talk to Eirnae before bringing this up with the family. Maybe we can alternate nights, so that we all can get some rest? If so, I shall be pumping more milk, which only makes me feel like a cow. . . .

Oh! I have gotten so caught up in the moment of my fulfilling night, and morning, that I completely forgot to write of this! A wonderful book was left on our door after we collected all of the gifts yesterday (and I am thankful it came later, I wouldn't have wanted to ruin it!). I admit, the incantations in that book are strange to me. I, unlike my love, was not raised with the elves. I was raised in London, with humans, and grew up around nothing but humans.

Maybe it is because of that that I suggested Eirnae have Calavel look into the book more closely. I trust Calavel completely, and I know she would not let us have anything that might harm Damien.

When asked whom my love suspects left the book, she will not say. She says that she will say when she is sure of it. I just want to give them a wonderful thank you. The book was lovely, and the incantations simply beautiful!

And I want to thank them for helping push me into wanting to know more about my race. I shall pester Eirnae to no end today, about her fascinating religion, and the ways of the moon elves, and any other elves she might know about. I just hope my lust for knowledge does not annoy Eirnae. . . .

July 17, 2004 (Late Morning)

Ever hear of the saying 'The wait was worth it'? Was it ever! Last night and this morning were as close to heaven as I have ever gotten, and that is saying something! Having Lenore all to myself, all night long and into the morning was exquisite! I regret that I fell into trance after one am, or at least that is what the digital clock read as I slipped into my visions. At least the timing wasn't completely off, with my Lenore satisfied recently and us about to go again. I'll admit that I feel badly that my instinct for rest overrode my hormonal instincts, but I think I made up for my transgressions in the bath later on.

Note to self, get more vanilla scented bubble bath.

I will be forever grateful to Lucius and Alimus for volunteering to watch over Damien last night. I know that for Lucius it must have been challenging due to his lack of sleep as a result, unless of course Alimus was kind enough to convince Lucius to rest while he took care of things. My unsleeping companion likely did so, but I have yet to ask as I see such as being his business.

Speaking of Alimus's business, I was surprised when my friend asked for Lucius if the Tsio could share Alimus's room two days ago. He must have been reading my mind, as Alimus's room was the only room at the time that wasn't already shared. Now I find myself wondering again, why did Alimus ask me that? He knew at the time that he didn't need to ask, he could merely offer his idea up to Lucius and see what the Tsio said. Was there another reason that he asked me? I feel as though my friend is hiding something from me, but I won't press. When he is ready to talk to me about it, he will.

How wonderful to sit around the table for breakfast, all of us together as a family! It was cramped, granted, but none of us really cared about that. Rubbing elbows is fine and dandy when those elbows belong to a family member. It's times like that which make me feel that we made the right choice to bring our two families together into one.

During breakfast and for some time after Lenore decided to release a barrage of questions about the elven lands, hertitage, Eilistraee, just about anything she could think of. I tried to answer them as quickly as they were fired off, but as soon as I got an answer halfway done another question would replace the first. I'm not quite sure what inspired this burst of curiousity about Lenore's elven half, though I'm suspecting the book of charms from the way she looked thoughtfully at it this morning. Whatever Lenore asks of me I shall answer to the best of my ability, and what I cannot I shall ask Calavel to aid me in answering. I have one of my mother's journals, a prize to me for both its knowledge of rogue talents and tricks as well its sentimental value. I have handed this treasure to my Lenore for her to read as well as the two books I brought from home, which my parents gave to me to keep upon my starting my own path over twenty years ago. I hope these aid her with her questions, though I am fully prepared to continue to be peppered by whichever ones are left.

July 17, 2004 (Evening)

Well, I'm home again. I should say WE are home. Who is we? Well...that's a long story.

You would think that the cottage is crowded enough, right? Or at least crowded to the point that I wouldn't tempt myself by walking into an orphanage and see a bunch of young faces wanting a home. You guessed it, I went into that place despite my common sense screaming at me to go back out the door and march back home with my bubble bath and pears secured in my basket without a second thought.

Damn my lack of willpower when it comes to those stranded without a real home. Well, perhaps I shouldn't curse it overally much, for if I didn't go into that orphanage I wouldn't have seen Arlath.

Would you believe that she looks like she is my natural born daughter? She has my eyes, my hair, even my nose! She has a fondness for the colors black and silver, seems very attached to the short sword she wears sheathed and clipped to her belt, and has an alert and quiet nature about her. She didn't say a word on the walk back to the cottage, not even one of complaint. I know she took note of everything we passed by, as if memorizing the route so she could run it the next day. Good thing I told her that running away wasn't really an option, as Alimus is one of the best damn trackers on Gaia. She looked saddened for just a moment, then her face went back to that expressionless mask of hers. I didn't mean to upset her, but the thought of her breaking out of the cottage and running off into a world she doesn't know frightens me. I apologized for the slight, but I got no reaction. A promise of difficulties to come? Perhaps.

After getting home I noticed that the girls, meaning Shina, Nyoka, and Vinyn, had all left with Calavel for a picnic. That left just myself, Lenore, Damien, our two 'father figures' as I like to call Alimus and Lucius these days, and the rest of both Lenore and I's companions. Arlath didn't want anything to do with any of us, just wandered on her own till she found the kitchen and started to help herself. I decided to take it as a sign that she had at least resigned herself to living here. That's a good thing, right?

She hasn't even met Lenore yet. I do hope that goes well. Oh well, time for me to go and find my beloved so I can break the news to her...as gently as possible. Maybe that new bottle of bubble bath can be put to good use today after all.
