Kasai's head snapped to the side.
"You're leaving?!" She asked, a tone of slight panic in her voice. She quickly glanced back toward the dance floor and saw the man who drug her around earlier dancing with a red haired girl and her eyes widened.
"I... think I'll come with you..." She hurridly got and shuffled over to his side, clinging mewfuly to his arm again.

Kathlyn smiled. She was happy to have seen so many people dancing and having fun. Only the muisc was slowing down and people were leaving. She frowned. She didn't like dancing alone to slow dances. so she wandered over to the punch bowl and for the first time of the night her eyes found Reitan wandering around the courtyard. She was surprised to see him, and thought for a moment to pretend she didn't see him. Only she could see by the way he walked, that something bothered him. his scowl was more defined and this bothered and worried her. So closing her eyes she poured two glasses of punch and walked towards him.
Reitan kept walking, for the first time in the night; actually not seeing Kathlyn. At least not at first. He turned to walk back around, for he had found his perfect spot to pace, and came face to face with Kathlyn's bright smiling face. She was still sweating lightly from her last dance. Reitan was startled and didn't know what to do or say, and could feel his face warming, although he didn't know why.
Kathlyn smiled, "Evening, I'm surpised you showed up LORD Kumoru. This doesn't really seem like your kind of event. Want some punch?" She asked offering the cup to him, and to her surpirse watching him take it. She smiled and leaned against the tree he had just walked to, "So Lord Kumoru. If you don't mind a poor peasent girl asking, what's on your mind? You seem like somethings bothering you." kathlyn asked smoothly watching Reitan and looking him strait in the eyes as she took a drink of her punch.

Glissa wandered around the fountain a couple times before coming to a rest at one of the benches. She sat down next to Koori and watched the students socializing with each other.
"So, ya having fun yet?" She jerked her head toward Koori slightly.
"Um... not exactly... Social events aren't exactly my cup of tea."
"Ha! You book worm! You need to get out and about more! Ya know, socialize like a normal human!" Kasai squeazed her book a bit more tightly.
"And I'm supposed to take advice on how to be a normal human from a demon?"
"I know how humans behave good enough! I have studied them for centuries you know!" Glissa puffed out her chest at this. Koori simply scoffed.
"Pfh... You may have studied humans, but you still have no idea about what really goes on in their minds..."
"I'm not trying to be a damn psychiatrist!"
"Psychologist..."
"What Ever! I'm just trying to learn about their world and everything in it!" Glissa turned her head away and stared at the potted plant beside her as if it had just screamed an obscenity.
"If you truely were trying to learn everything, you should have documented it and studied it over and over..." Koori tapped her book as she said this.
"Right. I'm not some twitty little human who needs to write stuff down. I got it all up here, in my head."
"Tw... Twitty?!" Koori's eyes widened in disgust.
"What? Its not like twitty's a bad word."
"Glissa! Quit insulting me! Or else the only magic teacher you have will up and leave you!"
"Oh come off it! You know I'm not being mean!"
"You are too! You know using derogatory words like that will hurt some one's feelings!"
"Damn humans..."
"Glissa!!!"
Koori and Glissa continued to bicker away like a couple of little kids.

Reitan looked to Kathlyn, "Nothing is on my mind. Must one be trapped in motal danger; or distressed to pace?"
Kathlyn laughed, she saw that comming, "Not at all; but I wasn't talking about your pacing." Kathlyn said she felt like giving him a second chance. After all; it wasn't his fault he was a stuck up prince without a sense of what would be proper. "See, I was more thinking something was on your mind because of that." She said placeing one finger lightly on his forehead right above his eyes. "You're scowling. I hear thinking to hard is bad for royalty. They might get hurt." She smiled at him and laughed, she was in a good mood from the dance.
Reitan felt his face growing hot again and with two fingers moved Kathlyn's finger from his face. Feeling his cheeks getting warmer from touching her hand, "I don't know what you are refering to." He said calmly and blandly. "I was mearly bored by watching these festivities; so I decided to walk around a bit." He trailed off slightly and then looked Kathlyn in the eyes.
Kathlyn was a bit startled by this so she smiled and laughed, "What? Is there something on my face or something?"
Reitan took a deep breath and then replied, "I hear it is cousomary for girls and boys to dance together durring slow dances; I was wondering if you might be my partner for one such dance." He bowed and unsure of what to do after that stuttered out, "that is if you would like...or don't already have someone to dance with..."

Enter Shigure: The new student emerged from a doorway into the courtyard. He'd only just arrived at the school and was anxious to see what the students here were like. The same apprehension that always flooded him when he was in a crowd, or with new people excited him. He was in his element, now. He lived for crowds and loved to be in the middle of it.
Best to lay low for now though. Scope things out, get a feel for the people. Make a friend or two, maybe even participate in the dance contest. He liked to dance and believed he was quite good, but displaying this talent didn't occur too often. He was too cool for such trivial activity. Now is the time to watch. He strode confidently along the wall of the courtyard, scanning the room, noting peoples' expressions, and searching for a suitable post to watch the dance unfold. He parked himself just short of the halfway mark on the back wall where he wouldn't draw attention to himself, but would still be noticed.

James took a sip of her punch, before setting it down on a nearby table. She noticed a couple people leaving, but there was a new arrival too. James turned her attention back to Michael who had just finished out his glass. "So when did you get here?" His sudden appearance still surprised her.
Michael set his empty glass down. "Just a few hours ago. I wanted to find you before I got anything else done." He smiled at her. 'Man how I missed this.'

Malachai entered with a proud expression across his face. His eyes searched for a new prey. Chai had grown tired of the other ones and so entered the dance in hopes of finding a new one to do his bidding.

Koori was marching away from Glissa, who was now shouting what sounded like obscenities in a demon tounge. She hurried toward the exit that lead to the dorms, eyes looking at the ground with extreme interest and arms wrapped tightly around her book.
"I for once come to one of the special events for Glissa's sake and she goes and starts insulting me! This is the last time I ev..." Koori was cut short in her mumbling because she crashed right into another person and was thrown backwards, landing hard on her rump and dropping her book in the process.
"Oh, I'm soooo sorry, I didn't see you there." Koori looked up at his face and her breathe cought in her throat. It felt as if there was a weight on her chest. The dark aura eminating from the man was the most sinister she had ever felt. Koori was left speechless sitting akwardly on the ground.

Malachai stumbled backwards a bit. His first thought was to kill the insolent creature that had rudely bumped into him, but he caught himself, remembering what he was here for. Malachai extended his hand to the girl. "Are you okay? I hope you are not injured my lady." His voice was smooth and full of deceit. He was using his manipulative ways to entrap her in his spell.

Michael had just twirled James out when he sensed it. A pure darkness. Michael ceased dancing and gazed around the courtyard. He couldn't tell where it was coming from, all he knew was that something or someone was causing his spine to chill.
"You stopped dancing? What's wrong?" James noticed the worried look on Michael's face. She looked around, but couldn't understand what Michael was searching for. "Michael?"
Michael snapped back, his head turned sharply to face James. "Sorry. It's nothing. Let's just take a break though." He led her towards the fountain, where he could see everyone and keep an eye out for the darkness.
James gave Michael a curious look, but followed him. As they neared the fountain, a new person caught James' eye. He was rather good looking and something about him seemed to drawn her to him. The guy was standing over by Koori, reaching out for her. "I'll be right back Michael." Before Michael could stop her James was already over by the stranger and Koori.

Malachai's focus went from Koori to James and back again. 'This I did not expect. Two for the price of one. Which one is going to fall for it though. This one seems scared.' His eyes stared at Koori. 'Yet, this one appears to have been enchanted over here.' Malachai's eyes flashed at James and then rested back on Koori. "Please, take my hand young maiden. It is after all a gentleman's duty to help the fallen arise from the ground, especially if that someone is a lady."

Kathlyn laughed and smiled, "You serious? you want to dance? With me? A silly commoner demon girl?" She folded her arms and looked at him carefully.
He looked down feeling his face redden, "if you don't wish to accecpt my offer, then don't. However, I am asking, and I am quite serious Miss Lewin." he waited a moment then feeling embarassed for asking started to walk away.
She looked at him and grabbed his arm lightly. "Alright princy. You've got yourself a part-time dance partner."

Koori's eyes were transfixed on Malachai's face. She weakly reached out her hand and took hold of his, and a chill ran down her spine.
"Th... Thank you... I... I don't think I'm hurt..." She lied. Her lower back was acheing a great deal, but she didn't want to display any weaknesses at the moment. She got to her feet with Malachai's help and dusted off her backside before bending down and scooping up her book. She tried to walk away, but it was like she couldn't move.
"Sorry to have bothered you... I'll be going now..." Koori tore her eyes off of him with great dificulty and glued them to the floor. As soon as she broke away from his gaze she was freed from his icy chill and could move with a bit more ease, though the heavy feeling on her chest remained.
