Chieira Uchimaki Yuuzora Chieira Uchimaki Yuuzora xd ... I love MPreg... there are some really well done ones... I do, too, as long as it's well-written. Self Reliance? Amazing. Have you read that one? xD Oh my gosh, yes! heart I love Self-Reliance! It was that fic that allowed me to see and accept Naruto as a Seme and Sasuke as an Uke. Especially because Sasuke wasn't a whiny female in a male body and the fun aspect of Naruto's personality didn't disappear. ~sighs~ I'm just so sad that reviewers gave Imbrium so much stress that she gave up on it... I know, I was so upset that she was forced to stop writing it. I really loved that fic, and still wonder how it might have turned out. Oh! Our conversation the other day led me to re-read both Convictions and Parallels by Questofdreams. xD They were even better than I remembered them being. Do you know of any other good NaruSasu stuff you could recommend? Lately, I've been craving fanfiction with that pairing for some reason. Ehhh? NaruSasu, huh? There was this really, really good one. I read it such a long time ago and it was so good... but I don't remember what it was called! ~cries~ Ummm... do you mind if they're SasuNaru? I'd need to go hunting for my NaruSasu, but I do have some very, very good SasuNaru recs. Oh, and could you also trade me some good ItaSasu fics? Pwease? whee

Rose Koneko Chieira Lots of people dislike ItaSasu for the incest; GaaNaru doesn't have that problem. For the same reason, you may notice ItaSasu more... because since it involves incest, that gets it a lot of attention, though most of that attention is bad. But, again, I'd definitely say that it's probably not as popular as GaaNaru.
Exactly. Just because you hear about a pairing, doesn't mean it's well liked. Same with GaaLee, you hear it a lot, but how many times do you actually hear that someone likes them. There might be more out there, but often with 'hated' pairings like ItaSasu, GaaLee, or KisaIta, people are afraid to say they're a fan and risk getting yelled at for what they like.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with my contest.
I admit that I don't know a ton about the entire scope of the Naruto yaoi fandom.
I just want to bring this up. This is how I based the popularity of pairings since there is no way I can go onto every fanfiction, doujinshi, or general yaoi site to get an accurate picture of everyone's opinion.
So instead I used the google search engine to see how many hits came up for each pairing. And again I know that from this you can't get a view of people's opinion but here's what I got as of today:
SasuNaru: 105,000
KakaIru: 34,000
KakaSasu:5,970
ItaSasu:868
GaaNaru:680
GaaLee:597
as for ff.net (R rated fics)
SasuNaru has 1614
ItaSasu has 196
KakaIru has 175
GaaNaru has 122
KakaSasu has 62
GaaLee has 36 fics
I don't know how many of these are good opinions or bad. And I'm sure there are a ton of GaaNaru fans in this guild, the thing is, they haven't posted here. I just thought by now they would have. It seems there are more SasuNaru defenders than GaaNaru fans posting here (of course I sort of provoked it by initially calling it overrated).
Actually, I love that you are calling me arrogant. One...because I am..and two because I'm glad that you say there are a ton of GaaNaru fans out there that I'm for some reason missing.
Another thing is that I haven't seen a licensed yaoi doujinshi of GaaNaru. (I'm talking about coming from Japan, not American fan comics, and believe me I've looked) Most of the doujinshi I do find with Gaara is really badly drawn anyway. I've even seen Hidan and Kakuzu yaoi doujinshi and they've been around for like what? 20 chapters? I've also seen stuff for Kiba and Shino...but so far nothing of Gaara and Naruto. (and I do realize that only a small percentage of yaoi doujinshi comes to America. Maybe I'm just being a selfish fangirl here but I think just one GaaNaru doujinshi being translated and put online isn't too much to ask) I also checked E-Bay and I'm not seeing anything.
If GaaNaru is as popular as you all say it is then why am I not seeing any decent doujinshi out there (and I'm sure there is somewhere.) In fact I really do hope you all yell at me and say "stupid Cicero there is a ton of GaaNaru yaoi doujinshi out there and I can prove it because here's the link...etc"

^^; Okay, first of all. I did searches of my own, to confirm what you've said here. On an eBay search for Naruto doujinshi, I did indeed find no GaaNaru doujins. I also found no ItaSasu. ^^; To be honest, not even SasuNaru was in the majority. The majority of doujinshi I found was, in fact, KakaIru. So, if we're basing popularity on the number of doujinshi currently selling on eBay, KakaIru is the most popular Naruto yaoi pairing. ^^; Since I don't think that's true, I'm going to say eBay doujinshi isn't the best way to judge a pairing. I didn't think it would be right to simply do a regular Google search, because just because a pairing is mentioned somewhere doesn't mean the person talking about it likes it. I could end up referencing someone's LJ rant about how much they HATE a pairing, and that would defeat the purpose of the search. So I did an image search and got this: GaaNaru: 34 Uchihacest: 31 SasuNaru: 638 (xD) Next, I did a search of this guild in particular. ^^; I went through every page of the main forum and the fan forum, and found that in the maybe... 300 topics there, there were at least 11 dedicated to GaaNaru. And those are only the topics which SAY GaaNaru in the title, which means that there are still several others throughout the guild. You also have to take into consideration that most topics in this guild aren't dedicated to any one pairing, but to lots of them, or to no actual pairing at all (meaning they're not talking about a pairing, they're talking about something else). Taking that into account, eleven topics dedicated solely to GaaNaru is a pretty high number. I'm sorry, but if you're not seeing many GaaNaru fans, then you ARE simply missing them, because I see them everywhere. Perhaps you should take into account that many people who like SasuNaru are ALSO GaaNaru fans. If you're not counting them simply because they're also SasuNaru fans, then you're being unfair. I think we're all allowed to like more than one pairing. Lastly, while I admire your dedication to your pairing, I think that in your posts here, you are probably not only alienating yourself from other GaaNaru fans, but possibly turning people off to GaaNaru through your attitude. I don't want to argue, but through your posts here, you have shown yourself to be arrogant and borderline-rude. I have had some good, enjoyable, and insightful conversations with you, and find you to be a very intelligent and dedicated fan. However, when you start subtly putting down other pairings and in a sense placing yourself on a pedestal above all other GaaNaru fans for reasons I fail to understand, you put yourself in a negative light. ::EDIT:: Also, I think I found the flaw in your search on FFN. 3nodding That proves my point. You don't know what sites I go to, and I don't know what sites you go to. Maybe on some other site or guild, there's not much love for GaaNaru. All I'm saying, is that on Gaia, Deviant Art, Y!Gallery (two of the last are pretty popular art sites), and several channels of IRC (it's the best and almost only place to get doujinshi anymore, it's like bittorrent, but... better), there is much love for them. Even at cons, I've seen people giggle and ask for GaaNaru pictures from cosplayers. Perhaps you're not looking in the right places, or not searching properly.
Case in point, your searches for fiction at ff.net. I'm sure they were just quick searches, but how many did you do? There's so many different refferances to look up. GaaNaru, NaruGaa, GaaraNaruto, NarutoGaara, Naruto/Gaara, Gaara/Naruto, GaaraxNaruto, NarutoxGaara. Besides the fact that a lot of people don't even post pairings in their summaries. As a frequent writer, I know that if I had to pick between editing my summary for less words, or taking out the pairing listings, then I would definitely take out the (GaaNaru) to that.
You can't catch flies without any sugar. If you're purely trying to promote your pairing, to open the eyes of other people, then you too need to be objective and fair. Calling something overrated, and I know you saw the flaw in that as you just stated, turns people from "hmm, you know I didn't think of that" to "they just insulted my pairing". I'm a huge GaaNaru fan, I've done multiple roleplays, written some fan fiction (though I've yet to post that part of it), and encourage my artistic friends to draw them together. But after reading through this thread, I was a little put off by it. Most people would be.
If most the art I had wasn't NC-17 I would gladly share it. I'll look through my massive Naruto collection (really, really needs to be organized by pairing someday) and try to find some of Veilchen's work, as well as others. As for doujinshi, I'll keep my ear to the ground while floating about IRC. If I find some under PG-13, I'll post that as well. Though really, if you want people to translate them, email circles and beg them to look for more of this or that. They're taking scans from fans or their own collection, which stands to reason why there's more SasuNaru out there. Heck, one of the popular translating circles only did a series of ItaSasu because a friend of one of the people who run it, begged them. (Really, look up IRC, this is where you get to speak to the actual translators, most of the time. Though if you're arrogant and possibly stand off-ish to them, they most likely will boot you from their channel.) Sadly most of what you find doujinshi wise, is porn. *cough* Not that porn is bad.
The other thing you could do to find out just how many people adore this pairing as well, is set up a guild then advertise like crazy. There's always a good healthy love for certain pairings, enough to run a whole guild off of. If you do, send me a link. wink I'll put your guild's button on two of my guild's front pages to help spread the love and talk to LOOSEY about putting one up here.

I'm sorry if I'm being unfair and rude all the time. I have this problem all the time with people saying I'm rude but I don't see why. (perhaps I'm just socially inept) Just to clarify, if I say something that offends anyone, keep in mind that I'm not trying to provoke people. I'm really not.
If I could make this thread all over again I would, just so I could go back and unsay all the stupid things I've said. But seeing that I can't I'll try to keep everything as unbiased as possible from now on.
And now I realize that looking at the "stats" attached to the pairings isn't the best way to judge how popular they are. Actually...now that I think about it...GaaNaru is pretty popular...In fact I see it everywhere and just never noticed until now...and a lot of people want more pics and such...I've never heard people complaining about the lack of SasuNaru stuff...but just the fact that people do want to see more GaaNaru says that at least there is a demand for it...
But you see...this is the story of my life....It always takes me 'digging my own grave' so to speak and getting chewed out before I realize things...
And another thing to clarify...I'm not trying to portray myself as THE #1 GaaNaru fan...if I've been doing that it was completely NOT my intent at all. I don't want to be #1 fangirl anyway because no one is #1.

xd It's cool, you're at least conversing with us, instead of yelling and messaging us with that sort of thing. It's a lot harder than people realize to debate objectively.
I think SasuNaru, while I adore it, has SO much coverage, that a lot of other pairings that are popular, just don't get as much attention. There could be a large need for something, but if the artists and writers don't go that way, it leaves a gap. Like a few artists who do wonderful GaaNaru, but have left the Naruto fandom to persue other interests. crying So sad. If you took away SasuNaru, and compared GaaNaru to a lot of other pairings, it'll look popular, but you can't compare it to the behemoth that is SasuNaru.

I have such a hard time rifting through them.

I think because I'm looking so hard for certain things I miss them completely when I do see them, because I'm expecting not to find them. I think that's why I missed all The GaaNaru fans in the first place.

You also have to take into consideration that most topics in this guild aren't dedicated to any one pairing, but to lots of them, or to no actual pairing at all (meaning they're not talking about a pairing, they're talking about something else). Taking that into account, eleven topics dedicated solely to GaaNaru is a pretty high number. I'm sorry, but if you're not seeing many GaaNaru fans, then you ARE simply missing them, because I see them everywhere. Perhaps you should take into account that many people who like SasuNaru are ALSO GaaNaru fans. If you're not counting them simply because they're also SasuNaru fans, then you're being unfair. I think we're all allowed to like more than one pairing. Lastly, while I admire your dedication to your pairing, I think that in your posts here, you are probably not only alienating yourself from other GaaNaru fans, but possibly turning people off to GaaNaru through your attitude. I don't want to argue, but through your posts here, you have shown yourself to be arrogant and borderline-rude. I have had some good, enjoyable, and insightful conversations with you, and find you to be a very intelligent and dedicated fan. However, when you start subtly putting down other pairings and in a sense placing yourself on a pedestal above all other GaaNaru fans for reasons I fail to understand, you put yourself in a negative light. ::EDIT:: Also, I think I found the flaw in your search on FFN. I was wondering how it could be possible for there to be THAT few Naruto/Gaara fanfictions. Well, instead of just searching for GaaNaru or NaruGaa, I did their full names and added a slash in between. For Gaara/Naruto alone, I pulled up 680 fics. I skimmed the list, and granted, not all of them were yaoi between the two, but the majority of them were. Possibly only one out of ten wasn't. When searching like this, you have to take into account that, as I found while searching, most authors don't actually list the pairing. They write a summary that described the relationship between the two characters, and put a "yaoi" note. This means that your search didn't give you any real viewpoint on the number of actual GaaNaru fics, but simply on the number of authors who use the word "GaaNaru". ^^ I hope that helps. I also got the impression that there were more links to GaaNaru doujins somewhere further into the community's posts, so you might wanna search back further. ^^ *gigglesnort* Chieira, I was totally going to bring up that a lot of SasuNaru fans are also GaaNaru fans (and ItaSasu fans, and NejiNaru fans and everything else fans @_@). Hmm... and I agree that there are a lot of SasuNaru stuffies, but keep in mind... many, many, many of them aren't well done at all. It takes a lot to find a really well-written SasuNaru/NaruSasu fanfic. I mean *gigglesnort* this one SasuNaru fic I was reading for a while was SO horrible! (Dear Author, First of all, stop referring to the dominated men as "women", and I'm sure that Dei-kun has more of a back bone than you're portraying him! *gigglesnort* But your ItaDei was highly amusing, extremely offensive, and very, very, very ridiculous. I have such a hard time rifting through them. You're right on that one. There is alot of bad Naruto fiction and suff in general out there. I think because I'm looking so hard for certain things I miss them completely when I do see them, because I'm expecting not to find them. I think that's why I missed all The GaaNaru fans in the first place. That always happens to all of us at one time or another. I'll tell you one thing: I'll keep an eye out for good GaaNaru for ya! LOL). There are NO fics dedicated mainly to them, so the only time that I can see them is in some SasuNaru fics... and a lot of those are the silly ones. *sighs*
