Bubbleable Being a vegitarian also has benefits simply in the amount of energy that you can get from your food. Think of it this way, when a pig eats corn, the pig uses that energy for himself to do, well, what pigs do. But then when you eat that pig, your only getting the leftover energy of the corn that the pig ate, scientists estimate that you can be getting as little as only 10 percent of the energy from that corn. So, being a vegetarian, or just eating more of the greens that we all need to eat everyday, will definitly benefit our energy levels. If that were the case then we'd theoretically gain more energy from basking in the sun than eating plants. Meat is one of the simplest proteins and quickest sources of energy. It's why carnivores can afford to spend so much time sleeping whilst herbivores have to continually graze. smile

And a lot of people DEPEND on meat for their food because they can't grow vegetables. It is a delicacy in lots of places. Also, I don't want to be taking pills because if you don't, you are loosing out on the nutrients meat gives you. Which sucks. I don't want to be on a constant diet for the rest of my life. I wish the way they processed for was a little more humane, but while there is demand, they will continue to do what they do unless people act.

Actually meat is more energy dense than vegetables, that is, you have to eat mroe vegetables than meat for the same amount of calories, I too wish that meat was processed more humanely. I was thinking of being a vegetarian for a time, but I really don't have the will power. To all those who do, however, good for you.

Only one of those is a fact. And that fact is that animals die to feed us. But, you're telling me, it's better that they die having not provided some use to the world? I don't know if you've noticed, but it's a western taboo to eat animals with a use. Dogs, cats, horses, all of them serve a purpose other than food. Also, cows and sheep kept for wool and milk are not killed either. I think you overreact.
As for these "facts", I believe them to be biased science.

mikhailxyohman From my personal experiences I disagree with people being Vegetarian. The ones that i've known just give me biased sights and are so closed minded to even see it. Most of the statistics are either made up, or re-written in their favor. We need to eat animals as it is just like if we didn't have any deaths, over population; Also, not all animals are killed as ruthless as the vegetarian videos show. What do you eat? Where did you get these interesting facts from? Well, for starters, I am a vegetarian. I don't consider myself biased (I do understand that most of those clips and stuff pro-vegetarians use as "proof" are fakes and extremely biased in their favor), but I also understand that there is some very torturous factory farming going on. Maybe not as extreme as some say, though. I have seen proof of this, although I recently checked the website and it wasn't running anymore (and no, it wasn't myspace). And I don't think saying what I eat is very important.

But obviously it's your choice whether to tell me or not.

Well.. the only veggies I ever eat are lettuce and potatoes(which are mostly starch anyways...) and I seem to be doing just fine with out those veggie things that everyone says are so important.
Haha, but being a vegetarian isn't necessarily something I agree with but whatever floats your boat.

I'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian, at least mostly. I do find it disturbing that we raise some animals basically just to eat them (that is seriously disrespectful of other life), but it is also true that it is the way of nature that some animals eat others, this prevents overpopulation, and it is healthy for humans to have a slight amount of meat in their diets. I also find it annoying that vegetarians can preach to people about not eating anything with a face and eyes and then allowing themselves to eat fish. That just seems wrong.
I am not a vegetarian, although my family does try to incorporate vegetable substitutes for meat into some of our meals. Ever tried vegetarian sausage? It tastes even better than the regular kind, at least in my opinion.
Vegetarian or meat-eating? I settle for a liberal in-between.

Well.. I can only say one thing for now.
We need a balance in our diet, and how we live.
If you don't understand this... I'm sorry, you need to think allitle bit more into it. Hahahah ^_^

I'm a vegetarian and became one after watching a video that a fellow vegetarian showed me at meetyourmeat.com. It was the one where they were beating the pigs and doing many other terrible things to them. People can still have a balanced diet by being a vegetarian. Meat has protein and so do many other things like nuts, eggs, soy, and fish (if you choose to eat it). But I also found out that the worst type of meat to eat is beef. It increases the risk for cancer more than any other type of meat. Just an interesting fact I found out.
