Xiaa I love you for not hating Kairi because I agree that she's just a fangirl XD She doesn't mean to separate Riku or Sora, especially not in KHII. I cried when she brought Riku and Sora's hands together, ;___; I fangirl'd. x3

I actually feel kinda sorry for the poor girl. First they fight over her, then they forget about her, then they fight over her again, then she reunites them and they act like she's not even there! Really, she's the one getting played here! sweatdrop
((Although technically speaking, Kairi's name translates directly to "that which comes between" And we all know that KH names are supposed to tell us about the character. I think she is meant to be the separation between the two, but not in the romantic way that most yaoi fans take it. I think of it kind of like a mirror effect. Sora and Riku are meant to be reflections of each other, the light and the darkness which coexist within every heart. They compete constantly, and improve each other by acting as a challenge. But in order to complete the metaphor, you need the mirror. Evidence? By the looks of the flashbacks to Pre-Kair Destiny Islands, the two don't seem to compete at all, they seem like ordinary, if not overly-harmonious kids. So what changes this? The "line of symmetry" so to speak which causes the reflection. And I like to think of Kairi as the "mirror". Sometimes she's annoying (the "let's leave Riku" scene) and sometimes she makes us tear up (the "it's Riku" scene) but, ultimately, the series would be incomplete without her.))

Let's just say it. Kairi, KH can't live with her, KH can't live without her. xd

You're absolutely right. She's never really tried to get in the way. If anything, she's been trying to keep the 'family' together. Frankly, with boys as hot as Riku and Sora, I wouldn't blame her is she was a fangirl for them. No bashing Kairi!...well not much.

Someone said above that Kairi's name means, "one that comes between." That's ironic, but I'll blame the parents for that one. mrgreen While we're on the subject, what do Sora and Riku's names mean?

And, technically, the 'Kai' in Kairi means 'sea'. The separation thing is merely a coincidence. ^^;

Wow, sky and land? That's like dark and light; total opposites. The naming was pretty incredible.

Fallen_Angel_Lunaria Okay, I'm going to admit something. I took a bunch of those KH character quizzes and I kept getting either Kairi or Sora. And the funny thing is, I like the Riku/Sora pairing even though I got Kairi on the quizzes I took! She's a FANGIRL just like most of us fangirls. I mean come on, there's that scene when she's holding Riku and Sora's hands together. It looked a lot like "I prounouce you two married! You may kiss each other!" And if it weren't for Kairi's lost memory of her home, Riku and Sora whould have not started their adventures which in turn caused all of us to see the lovely evidence of why they belong together. Yeah sure you all are saying she is keeping them apart when it was HER in the begining that got them closer together. What's with the Kairi bashing? I mean I make fun of her but I don't hate her. I never did. I joined this guild because I like the Riku/Sora pairing, not about hating Kairi. Don't you all get mad and flame me because I don't hate her. In the intro of KH2 when they are on the beach lying down, SORA is in the middle. She wasn't separating him from Riku, so will you folks lay off with the whole Kairi keeps Sora and Riku apart! She likes being around them because she thinks they are meant to be together just like we do. I just had to rant about that. Sorry for wasting time. Nuh-uh. Don't you remember that scene where Riku and Sora are little kids, and they go search for the monster in the Secret Place? Riku's all: "Hey Sora, when we grow up we should get off this island and go on adventures together, just the two of us! Yay! etc. etc." and then he said something like "let's go meet that new girl (*cough cough* Kairi) at the major's house."
And just for the record, I'm not bashing you in anyway. Because I agree, Kairi even reunited Sora and Riku together in KH2.

I may be in the minority here, but I still don't like her. I mean, she's just so.....damn stupid and annoying to me. I'll agree the scene in KH2 did kinda seem like she was "accepting" them but the fact is she always seems so damn clueless about everything. And I don't think she is absolutely necessary for the KH universe to exist. I mean, it would have been possible to write her out if they had decided to make the story completely about Riku and Sora, which, in my opinion, would be the greatest thing since black and white panels.
I mean, all the annoyances like Sora feeling like he had to "compete" with Riku and therefor seeing him as more of a "rival" than a "partner" per say wouldn't have been so dramatic if you didn't have Ms. Typical Plot Device there to act like an idiot from the sidelines. Her presense in the first KH made me literally stab my temple because Sora and Riku didn't really realise how they felt about each other untill around the end of the game and into KH2 because everything thing was about "Kairi, Kairi, Kairi". I was almost certain the horrid relationship, that is dare not spoken of in this guild, was going to happen that I was hesitant to play KH2 for fear of my eyes burning out of my head. But, I was very pleased with her almost non existant role and all the RikuXSora alone time that was KH2. In fact, she played such a insignificant role in KH2, I'm wondering if they are planning to more or less make her fade into the background for future games (prays to God).
Sorry about the rant but I just plain can't stand her. I have no problem if others like her, just giving my point about it. So the question was "Do I see Kairi as a fangirl?" Yes, I see her as the spazzing, idiotic fangirls that go "OMG Sora ands Riku is sooooo HOT! They Rz both mine!!!" *cringe*
