"Le's see," Billy mused, taking a moment to catch his breath and urge himself over the rocks and fallen tree debris. It wasn't easy going, but he was happy enough to be coherent he could keep it up all night. "After me tentacles fers' started sproutin', I wasn' doin' very well... somethin' got in me t'try cuttin' 'em off wit' a broken booze bottle. Go' so far as one b'fer they brought me t'th'labs... She ended up keepin' it, an' they learned some data aboo' th'fact octopusses coul' grow tings back. Then there was... " He pased at the next one, falling quiet as he continued along the psudo-path.

Sid touched one of his budding fangs at the mention of things growing back. That feeble little paragraph on viperfish in the encyclopedia had left a lot of questions as to what the things could and would do. Even their mating habits weren't exactly known, which was really disturbing to him. It had been weeks since...

...Better focus on other things. "Yeah?" he asked, encouraging Billy to go on. Other people's woes were a lovely distraction.

"Tha' woman an' my relationship's a complicated matter," He left it at that for now, falling pointedly silent as he struggled along.

"Gotcha." There was a definite note of disappointment in Sid's voice. That on top of the usual gravely quality. The silence allowed him to fall back on his own woes, and the most recent one was not letting go.

"I'm never gonna be able to have sex again, man," he sighed. "Like, ever."

"Tell me aboo' it," Billy sighed, "Try tryin' t'seduce a woman wit' a tentacle. An' I mean... tentacle."

"Couldn't even kiss," Sid said, stuck on his own problems. "It'd be fatal."

He didn't even think about the old and dirty aspect, that had been there before and he'd managed to work around it... The new stuff just felt impossible.

"Y'know I fecked her wit' me tentacle. Honest, swear t'God truth. Why y't'ink Big Red hates me so much? His manhood's threatened."

Sid was to the point that he couldn't even let that tidbit of information give him hope."What're the odds of finding another girl who gets off on s**t like that?" he asked, thinking out loud.

"Chances are... she'll be injected wit' hippo juice. Or one o' them bugs tha' eats th'other bug t'mate."

"Yeah, that'd figure, wouldn't it?" Sid idly brushed his hair back from his face as he walked, only to have a few more strands fall in front of his eyes within a couple of paces. He sighed. "You just can't win."

"Who needs 'em, anyway." It was more said as a statement made out of broken pride in an attempt to sound strong and independant than a question.

Sid nodded grimly. "Yeah, ******** 'em... Uh, only not literally."

"Only if they want us to. An' they're good lookin'." Billy amended.

"Amen..." Sid said. "There's worse fetishes for a girl to have."

He'd pay to see some of them on the internet and was subsequently banned from that entire library branch. Wasn't even worth it or arousing. So maybe he could look to the bright side, even hope some nice, ******** up girl would come along. He never thought about women who were able to see beyond looks.

"Like killin' their fathers," Billy sighed distantly, his head lolled back as he rolled to stare up at the starry sky. It never was this easy to see the stars back home. Less light pollution here, that was for sure.
