Miller returned from his little 'trip' to Antony's to find Shenzi's gift at his door step. He raised an eyebrow picking it up. "Eh, whats this?" He shrugged unlocking his door and heading in locking it behind him. He flopped down on his bed tossing the bag holding the spray paint aside reading the note.
"New music huh? Alright then lets see..." he got up looking around his still rather dull duplex, he shuffled over to his desk shifting through the draws holding almost nothing. He didn't bring much to the island nor had he called the lab for anything more then esentials. He continued to hunt though before it hit him.
"I haven't used a CD player in two years all I have is an ipod." He tapped his chin curiously maybe he could order one from the labs? Or maybe a computer so he could get Itunes, but that wouldn't be much use since the island had no internet.
"Gah... I'll have to ask some one if they have one I could borrow." He scowled and flopped down on his bed again relaxing wondering how long it would be before Antony came pounding on his door in a fit of anger and a smug smile on his face.
Little did he know Antony had a big surprise for him...

Her order had come in and the staff had done beautifully. With every color permanent marker at her disposal, the squirrel woman spent the rest of the day preparing the lot of them. By nightfall, Antony had finished prepping each and every object individually, and even she thought her artistic talent had really really shown through. It was time to get down to business. With her tails tied in a 'pony tail' of sort, she dressed in all black after stuffing all her supplies in a backpack. Stepping out of her duplex, she took note of the wind direction and then climbed on top of her duplex, where there wasn't as much light, with little difficulty. As much as she hated to admit it, her additional animal characteristics aided her in staying concealed and quiet while moving from roof top to roof top. Once on top of Duplex 78, she settled down and waited for it to get late. This way, the kid would be asleep for certain, and the squirrel woman would have free reign to get artistic... By the time first light hit Miller's duplex, the albino rodent was long gone, but the evidence of her previous presence could not be denied. A note was stuck to the door addressed to Miller with a heart next to his name. Unfortunately, that was the only normal thing that remained on the door. The entire surface had been scrubbed clean, and then covered in exactly ninety-nine hand painted, giant dildos and one tiny one in the center of the masses. Each had its own face and expression. There were happy dildos, depressed dildos, crying dildos, angry dildos, excited dildos, eccentric dildos, cheeky dildos, sleepy dildos, and many more. The small one looked terribly confused too. In fact, it looked like a Mini-Miller... Literally. Standing out like an eighteen year old boy's boner, said d***o had weak facial hair, floppy brown hair (which was probably stolen from a Barbie doll and glued on), hazel eyes, and a dopey little grin. It even had a little plastic lacrosse stick glued to it. It was Miller alright, down to a T. Should Miller try and pull any of them off, he'd noticed that they were super glued to his door, and they weren't going anywhere no matter how hard he yanked and tugged. Also, glue had been injected into the key hole on the door knob until it was completely full, but that was hidden by the note.

Miller rolled over the next morning stretching him self out, reaching his arms to the head rest and pushing his feet out just over the edge of the bed. He got up looking around slowly, something was bothering him like there was something out of place. Everything was left the way it was last night though.
He shrugged, "I'm getting paranoid..." he mumbled. Grabbing his ipod he slipped on his shorts and tshirt grabbing his hoodie to head out the door. Maybe he would stop by the construction site, the place had made a bit of progress since his day there.
Grabbing the door handle he pulled it open flicking the lock back in place to lock it behind him, in his half asleep state he didn't realize the many dildos till after the door clicked shut behind him.
His jaw dropped slightly and he noticed the note, "GOD DAMN IT!" he crumbled the note up stuffing it in his pocket as he grabbed one rather unique d***o modeled after him self, he went to tug... and nothing happened.
"You've gota be kidding..." he looked closer noticeing the glue dried around the edges, not ordinary glue, not even wood glue. That left one other option: Super Glue. "Hope the labs cover door replacements..." he started to stick his key in to the key hole and frowned when it didn't go in at all.
"She glued my keyhole shut!?" He let out a cross between a growl and a groan as he gave the door a good solid kick that caused his foot to become very sore. It seemed this door wasn't going any were.
Letting out another frustrated cry he stormed off through the village trying to sort out what to do next.

Miller had yet to figure out a way to open his door, or gather a new one. The last 4 of his nights had been spent either sleeping in the entertainment room or out near the beach bar when no one was around it. He switched the two often trying to make sure Antony never caught up with him.
After the 5th day of being well, homeless Miller decided to try his luck at Kikue's. Beaten and rather worn looking he sulked towards the girls duplex with hopes she wouldn't be cross with him for breaking any of her china during his transformation. Slowly he tapped on the door, "Ki-kuze? Youz homez?" He frowned when there was no answear, Kikue rarely was ever out... but something wasn't right. Slowly and carefully he reached down turnning the door knob and realizeing at once the opened door was not right.
And seeing inside was no better, her Duplex was the exact same mess of a state he had left it in, and as Kikue had left it not long before his own departure. Quickly he stepped back shutting the door. If Kikue had never came back, then were was she? And what would he do? With Kikue gone it was like the only person he felt he could rely on had abandoned him. Sure there was Lauren and Nita, but did they even trust him enough to let him in to their duplex?
He shuffled away now rubbing his forehead trying to figure out, were could Kikue have gone? Did the labs take her? What was he going to do now? No Kikue, no real good good friends, no place to stay then that he could actually feel somewhat safe in. He gave a growl of frustration shaking his head and ruffling his feathers all along his back. "Damnz itz... damnz itz allz! Izt badz enoughz diz iz happeninz and nowz Ki-kuz gonez too!" He let out another growl and continued on his way.

Fin and Feather Flock Together It had been a day since his little visit to Kikue's and the realization that Kikue was no longer around had left him rather drained and depressed. He had returned the night before to the cafeteria taking his spot in the far back corner wrapped up in his hoodie.
It was in that exact spot he was this morning now, half asleep and rolling around slightly mumbling to him self asking questions that made no sense as half the words came out as gibberish. Awen had originally came into the cafeteria to grab a little bite to eat; after all there are few other reasons why one would venture into the place of food. Once the girl saw a shaking, muttering lump in a corner she abandoned her search for sustinance.
"Hey, uh, buddy? Are you alright?" Miller rolled again the other way, in his mind he saw Kikue running and shadows looming out around her, and him self as he chased her suddenly they closed in causing the boy to jerk about in fright.
It didn't help he could hear a voice in his half sleep state. Suddenly he say up eyes cracking open with a yelp as Awen's face appeared as a blurry white and blue mess. "Eh wuz? Wuz Iz fine..." "Woah, woah." She held up her hands in a non-threatening manner at the yelp, though with her wing-fins it might seem more imposing than she wanted.
She tried to smile, but it was awkward. "Seriously, are you okay? Um... you weren't seeming to good....."Miller shivered again slightly clearing the last of his bad dreams away. "Wuh ummz I'mz juzt havinz bad dreamz ya knowz?" He frowned wipeing sleep from his eye, "Whyz youz askin?" The manta ray gave a soft chuckle and a well meaning smile. "Well because most people don't sleep in the cafeteria..." She held out her hand to shake. "My name's Awen. I was just a little worried, you weren't looking so great."While the polite smile was welcome his face turned in to a dark scowl. He sat up a bit straighter putting the hoodie on more properly. "Yahz well iz wouldntz be sleepinz herez becausez mozt peoples bez livinz in duplexzs and I don'tz have onez!" He curled up a bit more, "Meh namez Miller..." Awen's face contorted into a confused frown. Slowly settling herself to sit across the table from Miller the woman tried to reason this out. "The labs never assigned you a duplex?"Miller shook his head sighing, he really didn't want to explain this whole thing it made him feel, and literately look like an idiot. "I haz a duplex... butz I gotz locked outz cuz of Antonyz 'prank' and I've been sleepinz here for a whilez..." "Antony's prank?" Awen frowned, the girl seemed unamused but not surprised at the notion. "Honestly... this is too far, putting someone out of their duplex..." She shook her head and stopped that line of thought before it went to far.
"I don't know why the labs wouldn't have had that fixed....but, uh, hey if you need a place to crash... my place is open. I'll grab some blankets and pillows... I don't really have a bed or anything for you, but lots of blankets could be kind of like a thin matress or something." She bit her lip and laughed a little self consciously. "Oh, that is assuming no one else had offered. I mean if you want your own space that's understandable.""She gluezd stuff all overz me door and the lock... and nowz I can't get back in mah duplex..." He sighed sadly rubbing his beak as she offered him a place to stay.
"I only havez two friends here... wellz only onez reall good onez. But shez been awayz for whilez so yah... no placez to go." he sighed, did Kikue leave? Was she taken? Awen was still a little worried about the state things are in with the man's duplex. She sighed and shook her head hearing the details. "Well, if you want, my duplex is open."
Closing her eyes and took a deep breath. "This is dumb though, I could call in to get the door fixed for you... hopefully if everything goes well you should have your duplex back in a number of days!" She hoped anyway. Miller nodded quietly, "Yesz, a duplexz would be nicez." He got up slowly stretching him self out. "Youz tellin me, she'z nuts." He tilted his head, his own duplex back finally? "Never thouhtz to usez some onez intercomz at there duplexz..." The girl chuckled a little bit. "Well, you seem to be kinda new... things like that just come with experience." Awen gave a small knowing smile. "I'll get some blankets and pillows for you.... I guess I'll leave the 'plex unlocked until you get yours back..."
Leaning back Awen stretched slightly furthering her plans. "Oh yeah, I'm in Special Duplex #1. Soo... it's one of the aquatic duplexes by the lake. It had a dry area, don't worry, and I have video games if you're bored."Miller shrugged, "Iz been aroundz a bit ya know?" he pointed to the beak and feathers all along the back of his neck. "I'llz help carry zome stuffz back with youz."
His head tilted, special aquatic duplex? She did look like one of those strange fishy things, sting rays maybe? Or something close. "Yeh gotz video gamez? Now wez talking!" Awen chuckled at his beak tapping. She wasn't about to say it outloud.. but the first change, though a milestone, wasn't being around for very long at all. She smiled and stood up. "The help would be welcome, and I can show you the place...."
Grinning as she waited for the man to follow. "Sooo you like video games huh? How does a brand new PS3 sound?" Miller shrugged at the chuckling and started to make his way towards the door waiting for Awen to take the lead so he wouldn't get lost on the way to gather the blankets. "Yeh dangz rightz I likez video gamez!"
The boys eyes went wide, "Allz I gota askz, iz if the labz paid for it, because if they did thatz there lost and our gainz. Shitz I needz to order a Wii then..." "What's the Wii?" Awen started towards the main town place to get the blankets and little extras. She'd been in so long Awen knew the Wii under it's code name Revolution.
"I think the labs paid for it..." Awen gave a small grin. She wondered if Sabin took it out of his own pocket, or if it was the lab's expenses. "I think they have taken money from my bank account for the 360, though. But the PS3 was a Christmas present."Miller raised his eyebrow curiously, "Yuz gota P'ES three butz youz don't knowz what Wii iz? Iz da Nintendo zystem dat came out aroundz when Iz got taken herez."
Miller nodded recalling the one lab person making him pay for Kikue's present and nearly spending all his remaining money in the process. "Wellz letz see diz aquaticz duplex?" "Oh! You mean the Revolution?" If Awen had a nose to wrinkle it certainly would now. "Wii, huh? Kinda like when they changed the Dolphin to the Game Cube... but the Cube was so much better than the Wii." She laughed and glanced over at Miller as she arrived and was getting the extra materials to make Miller a nice little bed-away-from-home.
"Thing with Sony is they generally don't change their name two or three times before launch date." She shook her head and chuckled, handing miller the blankets while she took the pillows.
Turning to leave again she gave a softer smile. "Ah, let's...." As she started dow nthe path to her duplex. Miller nodded, "Ze name meanz Wii az in anybody canz play it." He shrugged, "Who carez whatz da name iz so longz it's fun right?" He held out his arms taking the blankets from her.
"Zony juzt addz the next numberz on it datz about it." He chuckled and started to follow her down the path kicking rocks with his bare feet, "So uhh... wutz it likez being all... fizhy?" Awen's skin, even as he asked, was noticibly dry. Little bits were already flaking off, and if Miller would pay close enough attention he would hear a slight weezing in the manta ray's breath.
"Yeah, well, at least with Sony ya always know what comes next." She chuckled, but even then she surpressed a slight cough.
Closing her eyes she tried to focus on her breathing. She didn't answer his fish question right away so she just took a slow breath in. Her steps were heavy and she had to concentrate. In, out, in, out... just like you always have Awen. Glancing over her shoulder the girl smiled at the man. "It's interesting.... You'd never imagine the wonders under the water my friend..."
Letting out a close consentrated breath she looked up at the sky. "But as everything good it comes with a price, eh?"Miller did notice a bit of a weezing, he didn't put much thought behind it though, being out on an island like this or living 'underwater' could easily lead to sickness.
"Yupz, zome dayz we gona be oldz and playinz the new Playstationz sixty fourz!" He gave a bit of a grin as she looked back with a smile. "I always thoughtz the sea waz coolz. So many colorz and stuff."He tilted his head slightly, "Wez paying lotz of prices herez and I don'tz see much pay offz." Awen piled the pillows in one hand and spread her arm out briefly. "Fresh air, sunshine, tropical island! A gettaway meant for kings." She smiled as she finally saw her duplex and just beyond it the crystal clear lakefront shinning in the sun.
"Just wait until your wings grow..." Awen shuffled the pillows back to holding them comfortably. "I bet the sky is just as amazing as the water..." Pushing the door of her duplex open she stepped inside. "You know, I've always wanted to fly..."
Pausing to flip on a light switch, Awe set the pillows down on the table and showed the bird her duplex, halfway through with what would normally be more floor was the pool that led to the lake. "Home sweet home.... you can keep yourself on the dry side," She pointed to her intercom. "Call for your door to be fixed, help yourself to the entertainment center, and snack drawer..... my home is yours my friend."Miller chuckled and nodded in agreement, "Yez the island iz indeed lovely onez you getz past ze factz that werez turningz in to animalz."
He shivered at the thought of wings, would that be as painful as feathers? "I hatez to burzt your bubblez butz featherz are... painful... to growz and wingz will be not muchz better..." He followed Awen in looking around the duplex his mouth makeing a small o shape of wonder as he took in the PS3 and 360 sitting in the room and the pool leading to the lake. "So howz one geta duplex like diz? Iz gota indoor pool!" Okay bad joke but he was trying to be optimistic after all he finally had a place to call home again. Awen laughed and shook her head, for the moment not getting ot the wings comment. "I'm afraid you have to grow gills to get one of these babies. After all it's a liability issue, your tossing and turning trying to sleep and splash into the pool your go! Why, you could drown! And the labs wouldn't want that, no, no. So I'm afraid aquatics only get these special duplexes."
After the bird was in and everything was starting to get settled Awen turned and looked the boy in the eye. "Accept it." She said suddenly, bluntly. "You are turning into an animal, there isn't anything you can do to stop it. Even if you could there are risks of cancer and god knows what else if the changes are delayed. I've heard for the islanders that have accepted this fact, accepted the changes they aren't as bad. It's hard.... believe me turning into a fish was not always such a wonderous thing for me. I came to the island afraid of water, Moreau had promised I would be able to swim like I was born to it by the end of my therapy. He was right. I may not have had the pain of growing feathers... but please do not think I didn't suffer. The mental anguish had me block out most of the physical pain.... transforming for the first time underwater, thinking I was going to drown." She paused before adding in the 'like my parents' part and simply sighed. "I know it's hard to accept, and I'm not discounting your pain, feathers seem like they'd be horrendous, but I think maybe accepting it... helps. It eases the mind so the body doesn't fight as much."
She sighed and chuckled before setting into a coughing fit. Wavering on her feet she glanced longingly at the pool of water before forcing herself to look back at Miller. "I don't mean to preach... just trying to give some advise. Make things a little.. less painful maybe...? Anyways, feel free to whatever in the room... I.. I need to get back into the water though... if you.. don't mind really. You'll be fine here, right?""Thatz not fairz! They could put likez a fence aroundz it so I don'tz fall in!" He joined in with the laugh but as soon as he laughed the mood changed.
He sat down on his make shift bed, a pile of blankets and pillows frowning as she explained more of her own story about the island and how people simply accepted this. It was still rather new to him and while seeing others like this was acceptable the thought of feathers bursting from his back, let alone the forming of wings did little to comfort him. "I didn'tz fightz... I don'tz think... I juzt rememberz it hurtingz, and thenz crying... and Ki-kuez was crying too I think..." he sighed as well falling back to lay on his blankets. He didn't bother to fight the point, he didn't want to accept it but she may be right, and soon he wouldn't have a choice, not like he had one now either.
"It's alrightz, I've heards same theoriez from otherz... It makez zense its just hard to get uszed too." He sat up tilting his head and nodded, "Yah I'll be finez..." Awen slowly sat down by the edge of the pool and gave a long sigh. "Listen, the first change no one ever accepts, the second change no one wants to accept. From what I know we have four changes.... by then most people at least accept it. Most don't like it. Try to find the good in things, no matter how hard. And it is hard."
She slipped her feet into the cool water and the temptation to dive in grew, but for the moment she resisted. "Milly, if you want ignore what I've said. Get your duplex back and do what you will with the rest of it. Live your life as you see fit. Keep your friends close, they are the true key. This...girl? you spoke of.... she sounds like a friend, crying for your changes... good friend."
Putting a webbed hand to her forehead Awen found it was getting harder and harder to concentrate. "Uh...whatever. Just enjoy the games, and don't save over any of my current files!" Without anything else she slipped into the water. She wouldn't be going very far, just to the bottom of the pool in her duplex. She just needed to be in the water for now, but didn't want to be far from Miller right now. Just in case.Miller rubbed his beak slowly as Awen mentioned the changes, only four of them? In those 4 changes he would be covered in feathers. Would he even be used to it by the 4th one?
"Iz not wantinz to ignore you..." he sighed before continuing, "Itz juzt that therez a lot on meh mind..." He looked over frowning as she seemed to get a bit worse outside of the water as they spoke. "I'll explainz everythingz latter and I promize I won't savez over nothingz, birdyz honor."

Earlier That Day As always Awen went out for another one of her regular swims, having stayed with the manta ray girl for a few days Miller had learned that most aquatic islanders needed to be in the water every hour or two else they risked a massive case of dehydration. It was during one of these swims that Miller decided to try calling the labs about his own duplex and getting the blasted door fixed already.
Turning off the PS3 he shuffled over to the intercom calling up the labs waiting through the same little loop of lame elevator music, seemed like the guards or lab techs who ever answer the lines, was either on break or in the middle of shifts. Sadly for Miller it was a shift change and the person taking over was in a less then happy mood when they picked up.
"Yah what do you want?" The guard said in a rather gruff and nasty tone, if Miller had any common sense about the guards and how they felt about the islanders he should have hung up then and there. "Thiz iz Miller from Duplexz zeventy-zeven? I needz a replacementz forz mah door the lockz been jammzed and I can'tz open it."
The guard who had nothing better to do, brought up a live feed of Miller's duplex, he had to put the intercom on mute for the moment while he busted out laughing at the site of Miller's door, when he finally calmed down he came back clearing his throat putting on a polite yet rather fake voice as he explained, "Your request is unusual by most standard requests, we'll have to take it up with the higher ups in the supply department. Your door should be fixed in ten business days. Thank you have a good day." And with that the line cut dead as the guard howled with laughter, those islanders were such idiots sometimes especially the new ones.
Meanwhile on Miller's end he could only sit there dumbstruck, so that was it? He wasn't going to get any help? Awen had said the lab was good with this sort of stuff yet they just pretty much told him to shut up and wait longer. He smacked the end button on the intercom cutting his connection to the once more annoying waiting music and grabbed a sticky note letting Awen know he would be out for a bit. Leaving the note by the pool for when she returned Miller stormed out the duplex heading for the only other home he had in his little old tree by the river.

Snakes On A Tree Miller learns the hard way that getting back what you believe to be your's doesn't always end well... Miller shuffled along the jungle grounds making his way once more to his tree, he'd spent a lot of time there lately hoping Emerwyn would once again happen by for another talk, he found her words one of the few things that could cheer him up lately. Finally arriving to his tree he started to reach up for the first branch hardly aware of anything around him. The tree was his now. The matter was not up for debate. Thom had found the tree earlier the previous evening, and had been pleased enough with it that he'd curled up and gone to sleep then and there. The tree was in easy reach of the river, and the branches formed enough of a bed that he wouldn't go toppling out onto the ground. Admittedly, there was the somewhat irritating stench of birds and humans lingering in the area, but that would wash out with the next rainstorm. He could cope in the meantime. The cobra had looped around thrice to stabilize himself on the thick perch, and was dozing, eyes wide open, with his arms beneath him and chin propped on his tail. He had commandeered the tree, and Miller was mad if he thought he would get it back without a fight. It wasn't till Miller reached to his perch grabbing on to the middle of Thom's tail did he realize that he was in trouble, he was already half way in to climbing in to the perch he had made out when he fully became aware of Thom curled up in it. Why was he here? There were plenty of tree's why this one? He froze on the spot pondering if he should tell the man to leave his tree or simply climb back down. "First meh duplexz nowz me ownz damn tree..." The pressure on his tail woke Thom instantly, though, aside from a slight twitch, he gave no sign that he was awake. There didn't seem to be an immediate threat, and this something might just prove to be his next meal. His tongue flickered out, and again the irritating smells of bird and human attacked his senses. Neither of which seemed particularly appetizing, and now the something was speaking... That was the last thing he wanted to hear. Without lifting his head, the cobra hissed a warning, hood flaring as he shot a glare in Miller's general direction. "Bugger off." Miller scowled and shook his head in defiance, the last thing he should have done. "Bugger offz? I've been cominz too this treez for almost a monthz I ain't leavinz at all." He shifted so he was sitting on a smaller branch, it still held the boy but it just wasn't the same as his normal spot which Thom had seemed to believe was his own. Frowning, he lifted his head just enough to peek Miller's way, fangs bared as he repeated the warning hiss. "If I have t' move an inch further, you will regret it." He was quite comfortable, and if he had to move, he was going to make Miller pay severely for said movement. Miller glared back at Thom frowning, why was it that things never worked out for him? Why did it seem every other person he met on this god forsaken island was on less then friendly terms with him? "Youz just taking mah treez? Whatz next then? Gona bust openz mah duplex andz take thatz over for yer zelf too?" He shifted in his branch, if Thom moved he could jump down easily, but then again, the man was half snake or rather very snake, could Miller even hope to move enough to get away from that? He could have said something in reply, he could have kept his word and just attacked Miller. But he was still rather tired, and the perch was surprisingly comfortable, and as long as he could avoid moving, he would. He was quite positive Miller wouldn't have the nerve to try and move him, and if the chatter didn't stop, which is probably would if he didn't reply, Thom would just startle him into falling out of the tree. For the time, he simply ignored the budgy, though his hood remained flared as his head fell back to his 'pillow'. Miller scowled at Thom as he continued to rest in his tree, no not his it was Miller's tree, not Thom's. He tilted to the side again scowling. "Youz even listeningz to me any more?" He shifted leaning closer trying to judge if the snake man had litterly just fallen asleep. "Come on I justz wantz my tree back iz that so hardz? It'z all I gotz right now." Nope, he wasn't even listening. Well, maybe slightly, but mostly to be sure Miller wasn't going to attempt to take back the perch. He was half tempted to start humming to prove his point, but decided feigning sleep was the better option for the time. Maybe if the bird thing shut up, Thom really would fall asleep again. Miller frowned, he wouldn't give this up, never. It was the only way he could hope to find Emerwyn unless he happened to wander in on what ever place she called home. It was his home right now and he would not give this up as well. He made his way down the tree stalking in to the woods again, when he returned he wielded a decent sized branch almost as long as his arm and a bit thicker towards one end. He slipped it up between two branches right near the perch the one being the same that Miller had been sitting on. Moments latter he joined it aiming the branch were Thom was most centered on the perch and edged it closer before poking, he took a chance and pushed trying to fit it under Thom before pushing his weight down on the branch trying to shove him out. Thom allowed himself a smirk when he realized Miller had abandoned the tree, shifting to make himself a bit more comfortable and settling back down for his nap. He was almost asleep when the unmistakable sounds of someone approaching reaching him. The poke from the stick that followed only provoked a low hiss, but Thom grit his teeth and let it be. And then, as the branch was shoved beneath him, it registered that Miller was trying to wedge him off, and Thom's patience snapped. Propelled by the motion of the branch, the cobra rose up, fixing on Miller's position in a split second and striking towards the budgy. He realized there was a very real threat that he could send both falling from the tree, and looped to tail around a branch to prevent such from falling, both arms making a grab for Miller as he struck. Miller's eyes went wide as Thom lurched up and aimed towards him, he looked a lot bigger now that he wasn't curled up any more. And this was about the only realization Miller could get through his mind as Thom snapped forward, he pulled an arm up to try and bat Thom away only to find his arm and shoulder burst with pain as Thom struck out at him. Those teeth sure as hell as small as the labs needles and the shock of it all stunned the poor boy as he started to slip backwards from his branch. His mouth forming a little o as he gave a cry of pain and confusion when the world started to tilt backwards. But it wasn't over that easy as Thom still managed to grab hold of him, was he just catching him so that they both wouldn't be sent falling from the strike? Now that he'd struck, the cobra wasn't about to let go. Thom was hungry, and he had given Miller plenty of warning. If the budgy was too stupid to listen, then Darwin said he deserved to be a meal. Instinct told the cobra to react quickly if it wanted to keep such large prey, and the moment Thom's arms encircled the budgy, he wrenched him back towards the perch, sinuous black coils looping about Miller the moment he drew near. There was no venom to speak of, unfortunately (or fortunately, for Miller), but the cobra kept his fangs well embedded into the budgy's shoulder, attempting to keep him still in any way possible while the coils went to work suffocating his prey. The world stopped, at least it did for a moment, and suddenly he was moving up again back towards the tree and realized Thom was reeling him in like a fish. Adrenaline poured through his blood dampening enough of the shock for Miller to move his good arm trying to struggle out of Thom's grasp and make a pathetic grab at his face hoping to try and push him off. All the while blood ran along his arm. He continued to groan and moan and gave another cry as the coils of Thom's body started to wrap around him he started to thrash about now, desperately so, the only thing keeping the shocked boy conscious was the adrenaline and the instinct that told him to get away and quickly. Keeping a hold of something as large as Miller was really a good deal easier than Thom had expected it to be. Oh, it was proving somewhat difficult, certainly, what with all the squirming and writhing and whining and so on, but once he had a good grip on Miller's arms and coiled about his legs, the budgy didn't have much chance of escape. Still, suffocation was a difficult process for a cobra that was half relying on venom that wouldn't come. With each breath Miller released, the coils tightened, holding him firmly in place and preventing him from drawing a fresh breath. However, as with his botched attempt at strangling Zach, almost immediately after Miller's vitals dropped beneath a safe level, a shock ran down Thom's neck and spine, knocking him out cold. Surprisingly, neither would fall; Thom was still partially coiled around a branch from before, and Miller was stuck in the now-limp coils. Each passing second things became worse for Miller, he could feel pressure building around him and each whine and moan let out a bit more air that he could no longer get back. He could feel the coils pressing in hard against his ribs and a new pain joined that of his arm as one of his ribs cracked ever so slightly in Thom's ever growing grip. The pressure died quickly though, as did most of his other problems when Thom suddenly went limp from the buzzing, slowly Miller slipped down a bit getting tangled in the coil that was now just barely holding him up. Slowly and carefully, Miller took Thom by the mouth and lifted him slowly and painfully up so that the fangs would finally be out of him, the process of course was less then pleasant. He started to shift to get out when suddenly a sharp yet shorter buzz brought him down to rest as if in a nest among Thom's deadly coils. Neither of the two would hear the jeeps pull up along the river bed, or the guards commenting about the whole thing. As quickly as the whole event took place the guards had it cleaned up. In one jeep lay a stunned Thom, the guards made well to keep an eye on him incase he wake up again ready at any minute to buzz him again. He would be dumped at his duplex locked inside for a few hours as a brief scolding for the attack till the labs decided what should be done. Miller mean while was taken directly to the labs, a quick job of wrapping the wound was done to keep the blood from flowing to easily on the way, but just to be safe the labs had called him in for a closer examination.

Bed Rest Guest Miller gets a visit from a rather crazy lab tech while spending a day cooped up inside the labs after his little run in with Thom.Ginerva A stroll to quell the nervesSharp, short clicks echoed in the hall as Ginerva walked down, a jittery jump in her step. She had been quite busy since Halloween, with her usual work, and some planning and plotting of her own. She had hardly seen Sabin at all, which made her usual work that much more dreary. It also troubled her, for she still had it firm in her mind that she had completely failed him in her endeavors on Halloween. The girl really had lost control in the graveyard, and though she did make a good impression on one subject, the others were now as venemous toward her as they were to the rest of the staff. Not that she needed their approval. No, but it would make things a little more difficult for those times when she had to interact with them.
Being not terribly busy at the moment, her team toiling over the tasks she'd set upon them, Ginerva was looking to see what kind of mischief she might cause. That is, without upsetting the balance of this wonderful place's workings. It was in the hospital wing that Ginerva found her amusement. There was a subject being kept there, after having received a blow from the cobra, Thomas. His name was Miller Milano, turning into a Budgerigar Bird. A very young thing he was - naive, tender. Ginerva grinned widely as she stepped through the curtain. She clutched a clipboard, under the facade of checking up on him.
"Good day, young Master Milano. And how are we feeling today?" Miller Milano Miller lay in bed eyes shut some were between being awake and being asleep when Ginerva entered the room. He shifted slightly opening one eye to look at her with a frown. "Youz tell meh. I gotz two bite holez in mah arm, a cracked rib, and he crushed meh Ipodz when he tridez killin meh." he made a gesture towards the cracked ipod sitting on the table beside his bed.
"Other wize I'm juzt peachy pink over herez growin featherz and crap like that." Ginerva MacFroo Ginerva made a comical pouting face. "Well now, that's no attitude to have, is it?" She made a few fake marks on her board. "As for your little music box - that can be taken care of..." She walked around the bed, to Miller's other side. Then, she leaned over Miller, placing a cold hand on his forehead. "mmhmm..." "Now, I want you to tell me when you feel any pain..." And she proceeded to apply pressure on each of Miller's ribs, pressing harder as she went, so that it would indeed cause pain, regardless of whether or not the rib was broken. Bearing the knowledge that the subjects did indeed need to stay intact physically, and she wanted to keep him conscious, she was reasonably more careful around the cracked area.
If she was going to do something, she was going to do it right. Miller Milano Miller raised an eyebrow about the comment towards his ipod, they would replace it? Well at least SOMETHING was going well out of this whole thing. He nodded in agreement as she started along his ribs givine a slight frown at how hard she was pushing till it did get to a point of discomfort, "Yahz thatz a bit sorez when you poke likez dat." When she got to a cracked one how ever he gave a bit of a yelp, "Datz one really hurtz Ow!" Ginerva MacFroo Ginerva smiled in a way that was a little less than subtle as she finished. "Well, then..." she began to mumble incoherantly as she made more false notes on her pad. Words like "blood," "amputate" and "cut" could be made out.
"Now, as for this bite of yours." She came now to his arm, which had been bandaged. Miller Milano Miller frowned slightly at the smile and frowned even more seeming to go slightly pale as he thought he heard the words cut and apmutate, was his arm poisoned from the bite? Was there poison? Was he going to die from it unless they removed the arm!?
He nodded and and shifted the patients robe so his bandaged arm and shoulder were exposed, Please no poison please no poison... Ginerva MacFroo Ginerva's face now bore a very satisfied smile. This was the reaction she'd been looking for. Anything done to the body had to be reinforced with the mind.
She pored over the bandaged arm, then gingerly removed the bandage. Now she inspected the nasty wound. It was excruciatingly hard to supress a squeal of delight at the sight of such a speciman of pain. Nothing was better than this. However, she had to do her best not to do too much damage, or upset the thing too much. She'd learned her lesson - for now.
Of course, the boy was already taken care of. Ginerva had no business being there at all. Still she inspected the wound, and made her face grow grave and serious. Her chillingly high-pitched voice spoke in small mutterings again. "Just as I thought... hmm hmm hmm...." Then she poked around the wound, with no great care. Satisfied for now, she bandaged it up again, roughly and tightly.
Miller Milano Miller tried to lay still and not complain much but as soon as Ginerva went to work on his arm wound he couldn't help but roll about a bit. "Whyz you pokein it? Aint that gonaz get it infect- OW!" He gave a sharp kick to the side rail of the bed as she gave him another poke, one of the many she obviously enjoyed giving.
And it didn't stop there for she was hardly gental with wraping the wound back up. "Youz surez it's gota be that tight?" Ginerva MacFroo "There, there, little - boy," she said loftily. "I think I know what I'm doing... Don't you?" She gave a little giggle and winked at him. It would be an outwright lie to say it was comforting.
Then she turned a little more serious again. "We'll see how things turn out then, shall we?" With an ominous gesture of her head, she turned on her heel, and trotted out, heels clicking. There was almost a bounce to her step that Miller could hear as she disappeared behind the curtain and out into the hall.
With a sigh of contentment and a feeling of self-justifiication, Ginerva went back to work, feeling a little more purpose in what she did. She made more notes in her journal that day. After Ginerva left Miller rolled over on his good side getting ready for another nap, not long after another doctor showed up informing him to get dressed and to be ready to return to his duplex in fifteen minutes. Sure enough after carefully slipping in to a jacket given to him to replace his hoodie he was up and off in a jeep bouncing along the path to the village. His duplex door had finally been replaced, though the old one has been ever so casually (And rather mockingly) left right inside his duplex. But Miller hardly cared. He simply shuffled over to his small desk and wrote a note to pick up what ever he had left at Awens tomorrow after a nice long nap.

Miller Milano Miller rested easy once more in his tree, Thom was no longer around and life had resumed its normal pace. Kikue had even returned from the labs having only coming down with a bad case of the flu. He shifted hearing the familure singing as Emerwyn came to visit him like she always did, once a week at the same old tree at noon. He grinned shifting to lay along his branch and wave to Emerwyn. “Youz are late today Emerz.” He said with a grin, it didn’t matter she had been writing another play for Billy, the first one had been a huge hit and it seemed every one was dieing to be in the next one.
Emerwyn only smiled offering a giggle waving the script towards the bird boy, “I was working on the play again, is that so wrong?” Miller shook his head, “Nah perfectlyz fine with meh.” He reached down to offer a hand for Emer who shook her head politely passing the play up to Miller instead of climbing. “I think you’ll enjoy the first scene of the second act. Do you recall that food fight last month?” Miller groaned with a grin, “You meanz the onez were Nita peggzed Gaiuz right in the facez withz an apple givingz him a blackz eye? Godz yez!” Emerwyn giggled with a nod, “That’s the one, there’s a reference to it in that scene, you’ll be the one getting hit this time though my silly little Angel.”
Miller sighed shakeing his head, he read the scene over and bursted out laughing, “Emerz your brillantz!” he rolled over to return the play and froze. Emerwyn lay very still all around her wrapped tight having crushed her to death was the length of a rather large snake. A snake with a name and that name was Thom. “Well well… if it ain’t a little snack in MY tree…” Thom said with a grin and a flick of the tongue.
Before Miller could even begin to react Thom lashed out striking the tree branch tossing Miller from his seat spilling him right in to the lap of limp and broken Emerwyn, he shifted suddenly realizing she was covered in blood, pouring from her throat where two large bite marks much like his own from Thom had laid claim to her flesh.
“Now now birdy… it wouldn’t be any fun to catch you sitting around like this…” Miller turned in horror as Thom recoiled from the tree spreading his arms wide, “Come on then? Don’t you wana hurt me for killing your little friend? I’m sure you’ll both taste good for a snack…” And with that Miller ran, he ran as quickly as he could along the river towards the village. When he reached the lake he could hear Thom’s laughter not far behind. “******** ******** ********… HELPZ!” he started to scream, for some one, any one. What happened to the labs who stopped it all last time? He turned to see Thom emerging from the tree lines grinning when a blur of white and gray flashed by pinning Thom down, Kikue growled reaching a paw back ready to claw and crush Thom’s face. But the strike never happened, in the blink of an eye Thom lashed out clamping his mouth around Kikue’s throat, blood slowly seeping down along her white fur.
”K-k-kik-uze…” Miller stumbled and dropped to his knees, watching in horror as Thom slowly wound his way around Kikue who could only whimper and cough slightly making only more blood ooze from her lips. All at once there was a crack and Kikue went limp in Thom’s arms. “Another treat… never had snow leopard before…” Carelessly he tossed Kikue aside turning back to Miller, “And now you will die, just like your two friends and every one else you care about.” Miller shook his head trying to protest but Thom heard none of this as he shot forward wrapping around him and rising to strike. “And now I’ll be taking your life too.” Burning fire coursed through his shoulders, his sides and finally his throat as Thom struck with his deadly fangs again and again. Every inch of his body burned and crushed under the weight of Thom’s hold. The world started to go black a bright light cutting through it in the distance.
The light was coming through the window of his duplex.

Island of Moreau Vice Captain

Your ribs recently have been killing you. Ever since you cracked them and had them looked at and patched up from the labs, every little tap seems to send a flare of pain through them. Unfortunately, not even with the miracles of modern (or postmodern) science, is there much that can be done to accelerate or facilitate the repair of cracked bones aside from bracing them and being careful. Except for the island of Moreau. The changes have a particular.... regenerative side-effect. And so perhaps it is not a total coincidence that only about a day after you're released, you wake up with an injection mark in your arm. As the changes come over you later in that day, despite the wrenching pain as your feathers emerge over more of your body - each one a quill through the skin before it unfurls into a brilliant blue or white - or your maxila/beak pushes out until an almost complete upper bill, the horrid growth pains of your feet, and the searing pain as you join Gaius and Shenzi in the distinct experience of growing small back wings - the new skin then pierced with the same feathers over your body .... one part of your body experiences a distinct release. By the time you're finished, your body aches in all new places, but not your ribs. Not nearly so much.

Transformation Miller Milano Miller shuffled towards Awen's duplex rubbing the area just below his snake bite with a sigh. His whole arm felt misserable as did his rib. To top it all off the image of Emer and Kikue's dead bodies kept flashing through his mind.
A few minutes latter he found him self at Awen's knocking on the door, he could have gone in since Awen had promised it would be open to him but it just didn't seem right to do that any more now that his own duplex was open again. Awen Zyn Awen was, for once, not at the playstation when the knock on the door sounded. Awen peeked her head from the bathroom and wondered who it could be. Setting the hand towel down she made her way to the door and opened it.
"Yea-- oh Miller! Sorry, did I accidently lock you out or something?" Miller Milano Miller smiled giving her a little wave, "Nah youz proably didn't Iz just didn't feel rightz barging in sincez I gotz my duplex againz." He peeked past Awen to the pile of blankets and his ragged old cloths he had shown up in. "Came by toz pickz meh stuffz up and well... kickz your butt in Resistance for a bit." He said the last part with a little bit of a wink knowing very well from the times he challenged her in the past that he was sorely outmatched. Awen Zyn Awen's smile lit up hearing that the bird-man had gotten his old place back. "That's great Miller! But still barge in anytime, seriously, I don't mind."
"Now," she said stepping out of the doorway so Miller could enter. "Grab a seat, get comfy and prepare to die." SHe started for the system to start putting the games in. Miller Milano Miller grinned, "Wellz I'll keep thatz in mind thenz!" he walked on in floping on to his little blanket pile right in front the PS3 with a grin. He liked Awen, just another game loving nut who he could find the simplest joys in fraging each other with.
"Oh reallyz? Well be seein boutz that!" He grabbed a controller flinching slightly as he moved to do so, his arm and ribs bursting with pain, as well as the length of his spine which made little sense. He passed it off as the blanket pile just not being fluffy enough right now. Awen Zyn Awen stood off to the side with the controller setting up the game. She was infront of Miller so she didn't notice the flinching or anything else. She didn't take her eyes off the game as she slowly backed to the table to sit down.
"Ah, Mill man, you'll never win you know. I own the game, and practice lots. There isn't a chance you'd catch up unless you got yer own and started playing twenty four seven!" Miller Milano Miller smirked and made a face in Awen's direction, "Ohz yah? Well justz wait till I getz me hands on one of themz porcupinez grenadez!" He took up his controler getting ready to go.
About 20 points in to the match Miller found him self on a loosing streak but he didn't mind much. He finally had Awen in his sites though and jumped up with glee ready to open fire when his rib suddenly exploded with pain, his back as well causing him to stumble sideways and fall to his broken ribs side causing him to cry out more. Awen Zyn Awen, at first not really noticing what happened, only knowing that Miller had messed up majorly ended up fragging the poor character and was about to call out her triumph when Miller called his pain instead.
Turning her head she stood up quickly noticing the bird-man was on his side. "Miller! What's wrong, what happened?" Miller Milano Miller groaned kicking about on the floor, he twisted about to look up at Awen his eyes going wide as it started to click what was going to happen in the next few minutes.
He rolled side to side moaning, "Notz againz... no no... noz..." he reached at his arm scratching the small bumps that rose up all along it, each of those little lumps swelled even more before the tips of his new feathers pushing through covered in a coating of fresh blood as they pressed through the skin. Awen Zyn "Not again?" Awen barely had time to mutter before the small pocks on his skin started to grow and feathers started to make their way to the surface. Putting a hand over to cover her mouth the manta ray could only stare.
She wouldn't dare get too close during the changes, she wanted to help, but there was no way she could. So the girl simpy had to sit and watch, as painful as it looked the initial shock of the situation faded from Awen's mind as she lowered her hand. A passive, yet sorrowful, stare rested on Miller. Miller Milano Miller rolled over again riseing up to his knees reaching his hand out towards Awen for help, even then feathers bursted forth from his hands covering them in a matter of seconds. Never before had the feathers been this bad, sure a few extra poped in now and then but never had he gotten so many at once even the first time.
He continued to reach out for Awen grabbing her wrist crying now and smearing a bit of blood along Awen's wrist, "H-h-helpz m-mmeh..." he shivered again as the feathers down by his lower back shifted growing longer and thicker turning in to a larger tail. Awen Zyn Moved by the gesture for help Awen slowly went on her knees infront of Miller and placed both hands on either side of his head, not pressing hard but in his current state she wasn't sure what would change and what would stay the same, so it may have hurt even if she didn't intend it to.
"I can't." She said and softly ran her fingers along the edge of hair on either side of his head. "Just breathe." Her tone was calm and steady. "Breathe you will make it through this. Try not to fight it, try not to be afraid. It hurts, I can see it does, but be strong Miller. You must be strong. Just listen to my voice and don't let go, you will make it through this." Miller Milano Miller reached up taking hold on too her wrists shivering with each set of feather crying and moaning as well. His beak shifted growing longer causing his moans to only get louder but he bit down clenching his eyes shut trying to breath as more feathers filled in, now along his face and chest. Almost all of his body was hidden in a layer of feathers now. Some spots thinner then others showing patches of milky white skin and the pink fleshy tint he once had.
Slowly he let go of Awen thinking it was over. He sat back a bit panting, the light in the room causeing his feathers to glisen as it bounced off the thin layer of blood. "F-featherz... zo manyz..." he reached to his side checking his ribs when suddenly they shifted, something was going on like his legs, the bone pressed out against his skin causing him to scream in agony as it shifted about, new bone filling the gap and slowly pulling it in to place. When this finally ended he was once more on his side eyes wide with confusion and pain. Had his body just healed its self from its wounds quicker because of all this? Awen Zyn Awen tried to comfort the bird at the pause in the changes but it didn't last long as the man was crying out again soon enough. Comments like "you're doing good" or "almost there" were being muttered softly hoping it would help.
When finally it was over, his legs had changed his feathers were out and everything was once more quiet Awen wrapped her arms around the man's form. Her wing like fins wrapped the boy in a calm embrace and held him gently. "You'll be okay Miller....." A hand gently stroked the top of his head. "You are okay.... I'm here."
This had been the first time the manta had seen anyone else change. Glancing about the room and the blood everywhere around the area of change Awen finally knew just how lucky her changes were. None the less, she still believed her acceptance had helped things along. For now such thoughts were set aside in favour of comforting the poor changed islander. Miller Milano Miller hunched over slowly listening to the comforting words Awen gave him words of comfort trying to tell him it was over he remembered Kikue doing the same thing trying to comfort him and make it less painful, and indeed the words of comfort no matter who gave them made it better.
"Itz hurtz zo... zo muchz..." he said inbetween deep breaths, his side no longer hurt but all over he itched and aparently during it all his legs had grown harder in there leather like covering and more white, even shifting a bit like his rib had causing his leg to curve oddly behind and near the knee.
Slowly he started to stand up shuffling about the room trying to stretch thinking the worst of it all was finally over. But it was far from that. His shoulders, they felt so sore, and suddenly they cracked and burned as the bones shifted, what was once a simple lump of bone was uncurling growing pushing against his skin stretching it, his small back wings slowly becaome apparent trapped under his shirt which he clawed at ripping off and tossing it aside. He continued to stumble about crying out as the wings twitched and shifted uncontrolabley as his brain fought for control over them.
Then he was falling, over and down in to the cold water linking Awen's duplex to the water that kept her alive, he thrashed about kicking and trying to scream giving up what little air he had in panic and pain as the feathers started again in larger thicker amounts covering the new wings and tinting the water red as they brought forth blood. Awen Zyn "Miller?" Awen had asked softly as he stood up and ventured wobbily about the room. The tone of concern was justified when she saw his back buldge under the pressure of new growings. Watching his trash and rip the shirt away the girl almost cursed but refrained.
"Miller!" She cried again when she saw the newly feathered man fall into her pool. Moving as quick as she could to the edge the manta looked over into the water but more and more it was getting hard to see anything amidst the blood swirling into the water. Without another thought Awen jumped into the pool after her friend.
There was nothing now on her mind except for getting the bird out of the water. The bloodied mix when taken into her gills definately was not right it itched and tingled and jsut felt completely wrong to her. Regardless Awen pushed on and grabbed ahold of Miller's arm giving a mighty kick to push the both to the surface. Dragging the weighted bird to the edge she could do little more than flop his haphazardly half onto the pool's edge. Miller Milano Miller thrashed about a bit more but between the blood seeping out of him slowly over the change and the pure shock it puts on ones body he found him self slowly loosing sight of the world around him.
He could barely make out the form of Awen diving in to the water among the cloud of red and his slowly fogging vision. Even after Awen got him up on the dry ground of her duplex he barely moved his breathing shallow and easily missed if not for the fact that his exposed chest was moving ever so slightly. Awen Zyn "Miller, come on..." Pulling herself from the water she sat looking worridly at the bird man laying half on land half in water. She grabbed under his arm and haulled him the rest of the way onto the dry part of the duplex, carrying the water and excess blood to muddy her carpet.
Looking the man over she was slightly confused at what to do next, he was breathing and seemed alright... but was he really? How much air had he swallowed? Awen was glad he was still breathing though, she had no idea how to preform mouth-to-mouth on the man with a beak.
"Miller, can you hear me huh? I didn't mean the comment about dying litterally come on, you know it's jsut gamer talk, wake up man..." Miller Milano Millers wings twitched slightly with each tug and whisper from Awen. He sighed again coughing a bit more spitting a little more water up and giving a bit of a shrill whistling tweet in the process followed by more coughing.
He shivered slowly as the changes settled down a bit more, his body ached but oddly his rib and shoulder felt normal again, it made no sense to him but the ache free ribs were nice. He shifted slightly, "A-aw-awenz..." Awen Zyn The manta smiled hearing her name, this was a sign at least that he was okay. She chuckled a little bit and moved close again to hold his head and ruffle his hair. "I told you bird brain, you're not suited for this style duplex! Aquatics only, ya?"
She tried to liven the mood a little bit, this time a little more certain that the changes were over. She had always figured a bird serum would give a person wings for arms not wings on their backs and she never quite noticed the little nubs before. This was quite the awakening for the both of them it seemed.
"But you'll be okay Miller..." Miller Milano Miller coughed a bit rolling over to look at Awen with a bleh face, it's not his fault he couldn't stand straight while his body has a change spasm moment. He sat up very slowly moaning as his head spun about him.
"Wellz... d-datz wasnt too funz..." Awen Zyn "I wouldn't imagine so...." She said softly stroking his hair. "I'm sorry Miller...."
A braod smiled graced the womans lips. "On the possitive side you look pretty neat, those feathers are pretty....painful...but pretty." Miller Milano Miller slowly laid back down figuring the ground was a much better place to be then sitting upright at that moment. He rolled his head slightly looking at Awen with a shrug before rolling back to examin a hand and arm held up in the air.
"It hurtz zo much... whyz couldn'tz I get fuzz or somethingz..." he let out a sigh which came out more as a low whistling tweet. Awen Zyn "I'm really not sure Miller." The manta let out her own sigh at the failed attempt. "But hey, maybe you should get some rest, that had to have taken a lot out of you? You're wlecome to stay..." Miller Milano Miller rolled over again to look at Awen and gave a smile, "Yahz one morez nightz wouldn't be all thatz bad..." He got up slowly makeing his way to his blanket pile before flopping over on to it. He finally saw the mess he'd made of the room and offered Awen a sad shrug, "Sorryz boutz... the... mezz..." he said with a yawn. These transformations sucked the life out of you.

Meeting With An Old Friend Nita MacNeal It had been more than a week since Nita's last change, and she was getting a bit stir-crazy. Her bones were still sore, but at least she could get around on her own. And so Nita had finally left her duplex, dressed in the scrubs the labs had provided her with. She had been informed that a new wardrobe was on its way, but the scrubs (which she had cuff up quite a bit) were better than going around naked. She wound her way through the village on the way to the cafeteria. Glancing around, a bit of blue caught her eye. "Er, what?" Nita asked, hiding a grin. Miller Milano Miller had decided to take a change of pace today, having spent most of the morning debateing the idea he finally decided to climb up on to his roof were he could see the sky better then his tree. Carefully he had made his way up and along a tree that stood just beside the duplex row. A few hours latter the budgy boy could be seen pacing about and sometimes laying on his back using his red coat as a pillow.
As Nita came by he happened to be pacing again trying to guess how many duplex's were in the village just by counting rooftops. Nita MacNeal Nita's whiskers twitched. She stood with her paw-like hands clasped behind her back. "Having fun up there?" she called out to Miller. Actually, it did look pretty nice up there on the roof. Nita hadn't been out to her tree in the jungle for quite a while; she rather missed it. Miller Milano Miller chirped suddenly hoping about the roof before droping to his knees and peeking over at Nita, "Er maybe ya I am?" He waved slightly,
He blinked, she looked... different more round and panda like, then again he was covered in feathers and had bulges under his coat that were his wings. "You look fuzzier then last time!" Nita MacNeal Nita grinned, only then noticing Miller's own changes. He was definitely looking more bird-like, which would explain just why he was hanging out on the roof. She supposed it made a good perch. "Ha, 'fuzzier' is one way to put it!" After a moment's pause, Nita called, "Hey, do you mind if I come up? Easier than yelling!" Miller Milano Miller nodded and started to get up, "Head on around back! There's a tree close to my duplex you can climb up to get here!" With that he turned to head back to the other side of the duplex flopping down on his stomach to wait for Nita. Nita MacNeal Nita made her way the duplex and sized up the tree. Before her change, she would have had no trouble at all scaling it, but her legs and arms still hurt. Not to mention she was shorter. She climbed carefully so as not to pull any muscles. Her claws dug into the bark and her change in balance actually made it easier to pull herself from branch to branch. "Oof," she announced, upon arrival. Nita rearranged her scrubs as she sat, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Not a bad view." Miller Milano Miller watched curiously as Nita made her way up the tree digging in to the bark as she went, for him it was more troublesome task of having to find hand holds and branches to grab, though his talloned or partially for that matter, toes did help a bit.
Miller shifted about so he looked the same way Nita did and nodded, "Yah it is... but I just wana get higher... I thought about the cliffs but it would be too long to go there and come back safely." He laid back down looking at Nita curiously, "You just change too I'm guessing?" he asked.
Nita MacNeal "I've been meaning to go up to the cliffs for a while," Nita admitted. "Maybe it wouldn't be so freaking humid." She brushed her frizzing hair out of her face. Digging little bits of bark out of her claws, Nita nodded. "A little more than a week ago. It was awful, and I'm still sore but... I'm done." She shrugged. "I guess this is me from now on..." Miller Milano "Maybe sometime we can goz up together along with a few otherz?" He shrugged, "For another dayz then?"
"Well, at leastz youz fuzzy?" he shrugged and reached over patting Nita on the shoulder, she really did feel more fluffy then when they first met. "I changedz not longz ago too." he sighed and pulled his jacked off spreading his still rather spastic wings. "Featherz are NOT funz still... nor drowninz almost." Nita MacNeal Nita smiled. "Sure. That would be cool. I wonder who else would be interested in an expedition." She held out her arms and looked them over dispassionately. "Fuzzy, definitely. And I got fatter and shorter." Nita made a face, one ear twitching in annoyance. "That's what hurt so much. My bones like compacted or something." Peering at his wings, Nita nodded. "Well, at least it looks like you're keeping your arms," she ventured. "But.. how did you almost drown?" Miller Milano Miller shrugged, "Lauren couldz come maybez a few other friendz?" He tilted his head at the arm reaching out to pet it.
"My legz are diffrent, they curvez funny nowz. And my bonez they don't ake az much but they feel... weirdz lighter I guessz." What of his face was still fleshy turned pink, "Umm I waz at Awenz during the changez I kinda fell intoz the pool in her duplexz." Nita MacNeal "Maybe. I'm trying to think who else might like some place a little cooler than most of the island." Nita smoothed down the fur on her arm. "Probably anyone covered in fur, really. "Awen has a pool in her duplex?" The red panda girl pondered the logistics of that, if Awen was still living in one of the cookie-cutter duplexes. Or had she been moved to a special duplex by the lake? Nita hadn't been past the former construction site in a while. "Well, I'm glad you didn't drown." She grinned. "Awen's pretty cool; I've met her a few times." Miller Milano Miller nodded, "Comez one come allz fuzzy folkz gather roundz were off to the mountainz to cool downz!" he grinned in a jokeing manner and got up walking around again trying to pick out Awen's duplex.
"Yepz she livez by the lake in a coolz new duplexz. It'z gota built in poolz for her to swimz out in to the lakez." He turned back grinning to Nita, "Yah drowninz would kinda be anticlimacticz way to goez on an island turningz in to aniamalz any way."
He shrugged off his jacked tossing it down to use as a pillow again laying beside Nita, "Shez cool, she let mez stay with her when mah duplexz was jammed." Nita MacNeal Nita grinned. "Hey, it gets pretty awful in the summer. I dunked myself in the lake quite a bit last year, but I didn't have as much fur back then. "That sounds pretty nifty. I wonder when my downstairs neighbor will get one of those. He's turning into a shark, plus some kind of plant." She shook her head; that particular combination was still mind-boggling. Raising a brow at Miller, she asked, "Ah, what happened to your own duplex?" Miller Milano Miller frowned ruffleing his feathers up curiously, "Wonderz how hot theze thingz gona get..." he slowly 'depuffed' as his feathers settled back down again.
"Proablyz Awen sayz that fishy folkz need em to livez easier since they dehydratez." He blinked, "Ever seen what happenz when you piss a squirrlez lady offz? You getz a bunch of dildoz super gluedz to your door and the lockz glued shutz too." He sighd, "The proofz still sitinz in mah room as a little 'welcome homez' gift fromz the labs when I gotz out after a snake bitez." Nita MacNeal Nita shrugged. "D'you know what kind of bird you're becoming then?" She blinked. "You pissed off Antony? What the hell, I told you not to piss her off!" Nita grinned then crawled forward across the roof to peer down at the duplex below. "I have to say, I'm intrigued." She raised a brow again. "Drowning, pissing off squirrel-ladies, and getting snake-chomped? My, you have been busy!" Miller Milano Miller checked his tail pokeing out his shorts now wore below the waist only held up from a belt and the feathers one his back and chest. "Somthingz you would findz at a pet storez I guess?"
Miller scowled, "She pissed meh off firstz! It'z a big 'prank warz' now I spray painted her duplexz and she dildozed mine." He shrugged, "I'm a buzy boy who needs to do many thingz, and what about youz?" Nita MacNeal Nita pulled herself back up into a sitting position and glanced at the tail protruding from Miller's pants. "Something blue," she announced, as if this were some brilliant revelation. She snickered at his expression. "Oh... Not so busy, I guess. Lauren and I got a dog at Christmas, so I had been giving her pretty regular walks and stuff, but I've been laid up since I changed. This was pretty much my first time out." Nita paused for a moment as her stomach growled. "Sorry. I was actually on my way to the cafeteria." Miller Milano Miller raised an eyebrow, "And youz a giant fuzzyz pandabearz thing." He said with a nod.
He walked over sitting down beside Nita again, "Dogzy? That's cool, howdz you get onez out here on the islandz?" He laughed at the stomach growl. "Wez could getz you some uhhh... well wutz you eat nowz any way?" Nita MacNeal "I don't actually know, honestly. She was on our front porch at Christmas. Gaius got one, too; apparently there are at least a couple others running around as well, but I haven't run into them." Nita shrugged. "Ours is called Comet, though, and she's pretty cool. I never had a dog before." Nita's stomach rumbled again. "Bamboo, mostly. They've been stocking it for me in the caf for months now. As far as I can tell, I still can eat pretty much anything, but bamboo's what tastes best." She stood up and stretched a little, loosening up her arms and legs. They tended to tighten up a bit after she had been sitting for a while. Miller Milano Miller binked and sighed, "Allz I had waz a mean notez from Antony... and some seashell from a Codyz person." He frowned, "Worst depressingz christmas EVERZ."
He got up as well stretching and sending his wings in to another random spastic flaping motion, partially of will and accident. "I canz eat anythinz... justz trying to keepz it in the beakz iz the problem now." Nita MacNeal "Awww," Nita said, patting Miller's shoulder. "It looks like Christmas is kind of hit-and-miss around here. I didn't really do anything for anybody." She examined the distance between the roof and the tree, and, making sure her sleeves and pant-legs were cuffed up properly, began the climb down. All in all, the trip was considerably easier than the journey up. "You coming?" Nita called from the ground. Miller Milano Miller shrugged, "Just beingz here iz hit or mizz, and we gotz hit I guess." He started after her once he picked up his coat.
"Yah I'm comingz!" he slipped the coat on and started towards the edge of his roof hoping off catching hold of a branch before scrambling his way down in a series of bird like jumps and twitches from branch to branch. Nita MacNeal Nita waited for Miller to descend, slightly amused by his birdlike actions. The pair of them made their way through the village to the cafeteria. In the buffet line, Nita filled her plate with bamboo leaves and an assortment of other fruits and vegetables. She claimed a table for the two of them and sat, heartily wishing the labs would provide better chairs for people with tails. "So," she began, digging into her meal, "Other than your various misadventures--" she waved a paw-- "How've you been?" In spite of their less-than-spectacular first meeting, Nita liked Miller. He was a good kid, even if he did need to be smacked upside the head on occasion. Miller Milano Millers bird like actions hardly ended there, his walk to the cafeteria had more of a skip to it, that much like a bird would when on the ground.
Once in line Miller also grabbed a few fruits, he found lately they tasted alot better then chicken. "Ehz, well I'mz friendz with a nice deer girlz named Emerwynz. She's reallyz sweet and visitz me at my tree now and thenz." He tapped his chin, "Other wize I hang out with Awenz and play video gamez with her." Nita MacNeal "Emerwyn is nice," Nita said around a mouthful of fruit. She chewed and swallowed quickly, making a face at her own rudeness. "I haven't seen her in a long time, but she helped me during my first change. It's good to know she's still around and doing well." Nita went back to her meal, just thinking quietly to herself. She really should work more on her project with Kikue, trying to get the islanders in touch with each other more. Too often, it seemed, people disappeared for long periods of time without anyone particularly noticing. "It's cool that Awen can still play video games and stuff. I'd probably really go crazy if I couldn't still read." Nita glanced down at her paw-like hands. "I haven't tried writing yet." Miller Milano Miller nodded in agreement, "I metz her the day she changedz recently..." he poked at an apple for a moment before picking it up and pecking/biteing at it for a moment with a sigh tossing it in his bowl again, stupid beaknose. "She calledz me her Little Blue Angelz..." he gave a sigh which sounded more like a depressed tweet. "I wish I couldz say I was that nice all the timez, but look at whatz I do with Antonyz."
He grabbed a dull knife, always dull they were, and started to try and cut chunks of apple nodding. "I like videogamez much az Awen does. Readinz nice tooz." Nita MacNeal Nita gave him a sympathetic shrug, watching him struggle with the apple. "Just try to avoid Antony, I guess," she said. "I mean, if she bugs you that much, that's what makes the most sense." She signaled to Miller that she would be right back and shuffled off across the cafeteria to grab a soda. When she returned, she popped the tab easily with a claw; it was somewhat reassuring that she still liked the taste of soda. "I raid the entertainment room pretty frequently for new books. They've got a decent selection, although it's nothing like a real library." Nita fell silent for a moment, remembering. Ah, the Columbus Metropolitan Libraries. Miller Milano "Iz plan tooz, haven'tz even gotz a plan to get her backz yet." He tossed a bite of apple in to his mouth munching away slowly so not to have any of the apple slip back out.
He missed drinking soda from a can, hell he missed useing a glass cup. Now he could only drink from bottles least he risk spilling the drink all over thanks to his beak.
"I useuallyz stop by therez to watch a moviez or play some DDR when no onez around." he worked at his apple again carving it up in to smaller chunks before eventually getting tired of it. "I needz to order a slicerz from the labz..." Nita MacNeal Nita ate the last few bamboo leaves from her plate, wiping her claws carefully on a napkin. "That shouldn't be too much of an issue, as long as it's clear you're not going to try cutting other people with it or anything." She grinned and straightened up her tray. "Well, I think I'm actually gonna go poke around the library for a bit and see if there's anything new." Miller Milano Miller shrugged, "I aint'z tryin to killz no one I just wantz to be ablez to eat mah lunchz in peace." He poked at his bowl of fruit peeling a banana next, the only fruit he could still easily eat.
He tossed the peel back into the bowel nodding, "Alrightyz, tellz Lauren I sayz hello and havez fun getting your bookz." He watched the panda girl go before looking at his bowl again with a scowl before going back to the slow process of cutting up his food. Nita MacNeal Nita nodded. "I didn't think you were; I was just saying." With a grin, she flicked a stray bit of apple peel at Miller. "See you around, Miller!" Gathering up her tray, Nita padded across the cafeteria, deposited it properly, and continued on her way to the entertainment room.

Tree Time Fun! Markye and Miller decide to play a little game in the trees!
About an hour after Nita left Miller finally got up to leave the cafateria, it was never easy dealing with fruits. It was messy and it took far too long, then again anything he ate was messy with a beak.
He started off into the village pondering the idea he and Nita had of getting a few people to explore the cliffs on the island, he didn't know of any one who had been up there offten, or many people he could ask to go.YourPrancinFilly: Apple to hand to sky to other hand , orange to hand to sky to other hand, repeat, repeat. Maryke semed to have this juggling thing down pact. At the moment she was using an oranage, apple, and a plum for her little chirade. She was just outside the cafeteria now, no others around. So she didn't care who saw her 'little act' or not, not until she was up on stage in the freak show brigade. If someone did see she could just play it off like she was just having a snack.
Apple to hand to sky to other hand , orange to hand to sky to other hand, repeat, repeat.
Miller would have walked right on by had he not noticed the apple flying up in the air in the corner of his eye. Giving a curious little chirp that would be the equivelent of a 'eh?' he made his way over to get a better view of Maryke juggleing
Faster and faster and faster was the way to go. Maryke had the juggling aspect down pact and if one managed to get out of her grasp the tail was quick to bat it back into place along with the others. Soon she did her most favorite part of the act. She flipped upside down while all three objects were high in the air and then caught them with her hand like feet in a handstand, juggling them that way.
Millers eyes only got wider and wider as Maryke went faster and faster, he recalled her breifly from Kim's party which he had been quickly outcasted from. When she suddenly flipped upside down started juggleing with her hands, feet? His jaw only droped lower before snapping shut and clapping quietly. "Wowz... never seenz some onez jugglez that wayz..." he mumbled to him self quietly.
Maryke's delcate ruffed ears caught the sound and she was suddenly thrown off course. It was always the damn flip that made her loose footing. She went to turn her head but as she did she jerked her body and caused herself to drop an apple, then an orange, and then the plum hit her in rear before she tumbled and landed on her butt, though more gracefully then before. "What....oh..." she managed, letting the words he spoke come into focus. She gathered up her fruit and then shrugged, not expecting an audience. "yeah...well there's a lot ya can do when your feet turn into hands..." she stopped, eyeing him. "You were at Kim's party, right?"
Miller flinched slightly figureing he has distracted her and walked over offering a hand to help her back up. "Suaposze soz, having bird feetz don't doz much for me thoughz so youz got lucky I guessz?" He shrugged a little, "Breiflyz, that onez guy didn't seemz to like me much so I just leftz..."
Maryke took the hand offered to her and pulled herself to her full height, running a hand over her tail which she'd landed on. It seemed to be in working order so the long silky appendage moved back to its place just above her head, taking on a sway. She snorted, "Luck....yeah m'real lucky." She'd meant for it to be sarcastic, but it was lost on her vocals on the way out. "Oh Jordan? Well...." she wasn't sure what to say to that. In all defense the bird boy had come in a...less then tactful way. "He was really involved anyway."
Miller's eyes followed her tail breifly, watching as it swayed about over top her head. In a way it was almost hypnotizeing, her voice brought him back to attention however. "Wellz betterz then beinz a frog an havingz to hop every werez or havez your legz rearange them selvez." He lifted his shorts a bit revealing were it seem another 'kneep cap' was forming on the back side of his leg.
Jordan so thats what the guys name was, "Dosn'tz matter muchz, peoplez either get along withz me or just hatez my gutz I'm startingz to realize this now.
Maryke's sensative wet nose upturned at the sight of the strange legs. Yet again she was reminded though she was royally ******** here, it...could be worse. She lifted her brow up at his admission and couldn't help but chuckle at that. "You know...I'm in that exact same boat. People either like me....or they think I'm the world's biggest whore."
Miller let his baggy shorts drop down again covering the odd formation, it wasn't apparent to him why his leg was doing that, but if Newt could be turned in to a hunch back frog man who hopped about he figured bird legs wern't a problem.
"Wellz assumeingz I've only metz you once beforez and only for a momentz and nowz were you seemz to be rather normalz I'll have to say I have no reasonz to call you a whorez."
During their first brief meeting Maryke had taken this guy to be nothing more then an annoying bird brain. Now he was just amusing, but not in an irritating way, and the speech, though a bit hard to understand wasn't cause for annoyance. Afterall even she and Newt were getting along. "Good to know. I think most do it just because they go by face value or jealousy." Of course Maryke knew it was because of her former occupation, but that wasn't something to get into. Instead she looked over the fruit still in her hands and took a bite of the plum.
Miller shrugged yet again, "Face valuez? Were allz turnning in to ******** animalz here..." he shook his head sighing with a bit of a whistle too it. "Az for jealousy that only applize when your normalz and have peoplez snappin at youz for it, I swearz every one wantedz to kill me or somethingz for it..." He eyed the plum jelously though and realized there was more to that statement, he missed being able to eat like a semi normal person instead of some retated fool who couldn't eat unless his food was cuti n bite size chunks.
"It's a figure of speech," she said flatly, and as he continued her ruffed ears flattened against her skull. That hurt. Maryke was one who was used to jealousy, and anyone with half a brain knew that any attention, even bad, was better then none at all. Here, being the damn animal she was slowly starting to realize she was caught into a world where she didn't matter. She noted him eyeing the fruit and held out the apple and orange with her free hand while hungrily scarfing down the rest of her plum. "want some?"
Miller grew quiet as she retorted, apparently he had succedued once more in strikeing a cord in some one to irk them. Go figure. In response he simply shrugged his shoulders. When she offered the fruit he eyed the orange and sighed, he really hadn't managed to eat that much in the cafateria, bananas were the easiest since they mushed and fell apart when bit, maybe the orange would be better. "Youz don'tz happen to havez a knifez to peel itz or cutz it?" he said as he took the orange, "Having a beak..." he said as he attempted a small bite to no aviail. "Suckz."
"Nope, but I've got these," she said holding a hand up and then wiggling her fingers to show off her nails. As a human they had always been long and perfectly manicured. Now as a lemur they were still the same size, though black instead of whatever polish she'd leep on them, and they were much much sharper then before. "Here..." she said sticking the apple in her mouth for safe keeping while she took the orange back and peeled it completely before forking it back over.
Miller let out a cheerfull note of delight at the sight of the nails, and another at how easily they pealed the oranges skin off, he took it back nodding, "Thankz, wishz I hadz nailz like that on my handz instead of mah toez..." he glanced down at his taloned toes, good for gripping a tree branch, but he certainly wouldn't peel fruit with them. With that he stuck his beak in the slightly softer orange takeing a small bite.
She chuckled, "you wish a lot of things." With that she made way on her own apple. She didn't realize how strange it'd be that her diet would change. Usually when she was normal she went with the times, eating only meat when that was the craze, or the raw foods diet, or whatever else was the new fad. So she was inclined to eating fruits, but it did feel wierd to be eating nothing but that. Not exactly bad, just wierd.
Miller shrugged and took another bite happy to have another fruit he could eat like a normal person, "Don'tz we all have a few wishez we wantz to have come truez?" Miller took another bite of the orange, he never thought that his takeing to fruit was based on his changes. But some were inside his head something was telling him that eating pizza just didn't taste that good and lately left him feeling a bit on the sick side were as fruits actually tasted okay, and didn't have his stomach growling even louder after eating.
"Oh yeah...I can think of a few things," she said with a decisive head nod, finally finishing up the red fruit and tossing the core away nonchalantly. And it was true, her life was built on wishful thinking. Even as a child she'd wish to be somewhere she wasn't or somewhere she was not. And now here all she wished for was some sembelance of peace. Unforunately wishes didn't usually come true
"Carez to walkz down to the beach withz me and talk aboutz some of those wishez? Ain't have anythinz to do today really." He took another bite of the orange, his life at home had been decent but he had always wanted to travel, low and behold his vactaion became true and resulted in him being on an island turning in to a bird.YourPrancinFilly: She gave off a little half smile. Any company was good in her book, and the beach was one of the places she loved, so near the trees and the crisp fresh air was rejuventating. She hadn't been able to get out much, Billy pretty much had her on lock down in fear that Jamal might rape and kill her, hopefully not in that order. Not that she wasn't scared herself, but she was desperate to get out and about. "I'd love to," she said happily, deciding that nothing could happen since it was day out.
Miller smiled the best he could with his new beak, having only half a normal mouth to work with was even worse then a muzzel, at least with a muzzle you still had facial movment, a beak was nothing more then a bone that opened and closed. "Alrightyz." He turned back the other way following the same path he took during truth or dare down to the beach along the way he looked back to Markye, "So whatz somethingz you wizh for now a dayz?"
She continued to walk, finally able to walk freely with her mishapen feet. The key was to do it on tippy toes as the heel and ankle were still somewhat human. At the question she thought about it and finally she shrugged, "Other then the obvious want to get out of her, or be normal again I guess I...kinda want to if I'm doing the right thing. If I'm just running blindly into things with this guy...."
Walking came easily to the budgy boy for now, his feet and part of his legs now hard as leather worked like a pair of boots and the ground hot, cold, or rocky didn't bother him much. He looked over his shoulder raiseing his eyebrow. "A nice girlz named Emerwynz gave me some advicez. Live you lifez, if youz like thiz guy justz go with itz, by liveinz your lifez youz take a riskz, but its better to livez and enjoy it then never livezed at all." He stopped for a moment tapping his chin, "Wellz not exactylz how shez said itz but itz the same ideaz."
She smiled at that. Emerwyn had always been nice to her, in fact she'd helped her to two dramatic ordeals in her life. Her very first change, and her first meeting with the resident lake monster. Oh what a long way she had come. Now she was screwing said monster on a regular basis, and even considered herself his 'girlfriend'. "Oh I am enjoying it," she said quickly. And it was true, she was deeply involved. "I just don't what his deal is sometimes."
It had been the same in a way for Miller, he first met Emerwyn during her recent change earning himself the tittle of 'Little Blue Angel" the thought of the title always brought what little of a smile he had to his face, the second time had been when Emerwyn gave him the same advice he gave to Markye. "Wellz, what iz there to wish about? You havez something you enjoyz so take it andz don't letz it go." He shrugged, "My first close friendz on this island andz the one thingz that made me happyz first met meh half drunk and half nakedz on her door stepz. She kicked meh halfwayz cross the roomz. Few dayz latter wez waz having tea and enjoyingz the dayz and boom I changedz and shez been gone sincez. No idea whyz either I just hopez shez okay now."
She nodded, listening close. She really should 'just run with it' Afterall it wasn't like she could fall back to her old vices or even someone else. And being cheated on sure did beat being alone, at least in her book it did. She raised a brow at the story, but didn't question it further. "I would like to catch up with her again...along with a few of the nicer people I've met here." She let a soft sigh escape her maw and soon they were at the edge of the beach. "It's funny we've got nothing but time here, but I still don't have time to play catchup with everyone here."
Miller finally wandered out of the tree line and on to the beach were he once more stretched him self out lowering his jacked down a bit to spread his tiny wings before slipping it back on. "Shez nice, she visitz me at my tree downz by the riverz, never knowz when but she justz kinda showz up." He laughed at the time comment, "Never thought aboutz that before. I guess I justz spend my timez sleeping in a treez day dreaminz."
"She is nice," she agreed, before she haltered in her step. Something had caught her attention, and already she was heading in that direction. There were some nice trees next to the beach and though she was still rapted in conversation at hand she couldn't help herself. Soon she was climbing into the trees, going higher and higher yet still visible from the beach.
Miller nodded again in agreement continueing to watch the beach he turned back to look for Markye and chirped in surprise when she wasn't behind him but rather scaleing a tree. He started back to the tree reaching up to the lowest branch with a hop and reaching for the next while his talloned toes dug and gripped his way up. "Hey! Slowz down!" he said with a bit of a laugh, he never really 'raced' any one up a tree and it seemed in this case if he had Markye would easily out pace him.YourPrancinFilly: She stopped when he said something, but when she did she was hanging upside from a branch by her feet, which were tightly gripping it while her hair and arms dangled down. "Fine," she said happily, enjoying herself know in her element, "I'll give you five minutes to catch up, then I'm off!"
Miller chirped in surprise at the now upside down Markye and scurried even faster to catch up his actions becomeing more bird like in the way he hoped and twitched it seemed from branch to branch. "Almost therez!" he reached out to poke Markye just a few more inches...
Maryke moved quickly, in time for his poke to miss her. Instead she scrambled back up and swished her tail in front of his face as if mock teasing him. "Time's up!" she announced, even though she had no way to tell if it was her not. She continued to climb, hand to foothand to hand, up and up. She was slower then normal to allow Miller time to at least keep her on sight. But before she knew it she had reached the top.
Miller laughed as he missed the poke figureing she would move before he could get her, shrugging off his coat he continued after her. He didn't care if she moved slower for him or not he was having fun playing around in the trees with someone. A minute after Maryke reached the top Miller poped up a tree away balanceing on a branch holding his wings out and his arms to keep his balance laughing, "Wellz that waz rather funz actuallyz!"
"Isn't it!" She said, as she stood on a brach with ease, her tail moving and swishing to provide the needed balance. It was so good to have someone else play in the trees with her. It was were the now lemur felt most at ease. In fact she'd be content to stay in the treetops as long as she could. Which was wierd considering in the former she always thought anything outdoor related was something she was severely not interested in. "The best part is jumping from branch to branch," she said before she ran at full speed, jumped, and then landed on a branch in the next tree.
Miller nodded with delight and continued to twitch his wings about keeping his balanced as he lowered his arms to his side. He never really realized just how much bird like instincts influenced his choices, lately he found he liked it more outside then inside. Of course being inside was only fun if it had video games now a days. He watched Markye jump and grinned following after her his jump a bit slower and more messured out of fear of falling.
Loud laughter could be hard as Maryke continued to jump from branch to branch, stopping every so often to make sure Miller was still nearby. It felt so good to be able to do this without fear that someone might think she was strange, or at worse that Jamal might be lurking somewhere around below. Soon she was able to learn new tricks, flipping off one branch to land on the next, or swinging with her arms and feet. When she finally had her fun she plopped down breathlessly on the tallest branch on the tallest tree.
Miller chased after chirping and laughing all the way, though his jumps were less flashy they were not to be seen as less then hers. Slowly his mind sinked in to its more bird like instinct and soon he was takeing leaps he normaly would have avoided laughing all the way. Finally he droped down in to the branch Markye say on laughing and panting as well. "Wowz never hadz this much funz just... running around in treez before!"
"I know!" she agreed, "It just seemed...stupid before, but...I just couldn't fight the feeling. I never imagined it'd be this enjoyable," she said happily, as she swung her legs back and forth like a little kid on a too big chair. "I mean just look at the view!"
Miller laughed, "I spentz a lotz of time inz treez since I gotz here and I onlyz seemz to be doingz it morez latelyz." He leaned back laying along the branch swinging his legs about as he did like he was back strokeing almost. "You shouldz seez the vilalge fromz topz your duplex datz a viewz."
"You know, I'll have to try that," she said as she continued to dangle her legs over the branch. She'd never though about climbing the top of her duplex before, she supposed it couldn't hurt. It'd definitely help with the fact that she was pretty much prohibited from the treelife at night.
Miller sat up his eyes shineing with delight. "Whyz bother to waitz? Mah duplexz haz the perfectz tree by itz for gettin on topz it!" He got up again scrambling down the tree as quick as he good laughing once more, "Come onz! You canz keepz up I know itz!"
"Alright!" she said as she jumped up just as she saw his form beginning to scramble off. Maryke had never been this free before, pre island she was all business. Oh how good it felt to be able to act casual without a worry of what others might think. She indeed could keep up. It was easier to get down then up and only required her hopped down on one branch or swinging and flipped down four branches and soon both feet were on solid ground.
As soon as Miller touched down he broke out into a bird like strut that carried him across the ground, he stopped only long enough to grab his red jacket and keep on moving trying to keep at the right pace so Markye couldn't catch up to him but still see him like she had done in the tree laughing all the way through the jungel and in to the village.
Maryke wasn't as adapt as running against the ground as much as she was soaring through the trees, but she still followed him all the same. Her laughter coupled with his and together this was just a unison of merriment as she hurried bck to the village with him.
Miller stoped just for a moment to wave to Maryke before he dove around the corner of the duplex heading for the tree right beside it, he leaped up grabing the first branch wraping his other arm aroudn the trunk before he started to scramble his way up like it was a fire pole till he could reach the higher branches to jump on to the roof top. "Come onz! Youz fasterz then thatz!"
She giggled and then went up after him, attempting to go much faster then the last tree and finding the more she did it the better at it she had become. Soon she wasn't just laughing she was letting out loud, very loud, lemur barks and cries.
Miller lay on his back again on the roof arms spread wide laughing and tweeting at the same time, he stoped and looked over at Markye who was now barking it seemed he blinked a few times stareing curiously having no idea what kinda bark that was.
The barking was loud and long, not like a dog, though in some ways it was a bit similar. It was a loud lemur bark, one of the loudest of all primates second to the howler monkey. It did look awfully strange coming from a fully grown woman however.
Miller continued to watch and suddenly bursted out laughing again at the site, he rolled over getting up waveing to Markye, "Heheyz!" he got out before laughing more this time the laughing being more sing song tweets and chirps then human laughter. "Wez gona wakez the deadz like diz!"
"So what?" she chortled, throwing her head back and letting out one long shrill cry of delight. "I don't know if anyone can still hear us, and if they can then.....they can just turn the music up louder"
Miller blinked for a moment and laughed again tweeting away again floping back on to his back, a bit latter he was panting and wheezing out of breath from all the laughter. "Oh manz... heh"
Soon Maryke was at the top of the tree line again and felt like she was in some drunken stupor. She was sure that if someone had heard they'd be telling them to shut the hell by now.
