Yeah music in other languages is a cool notion but not my main interest in music, the actual MUSIC is what pleases me. I mean who cares what language it's sung in or whether or not they're singing about prostitutes and drugs? if the music is good, the lyrics don't even matter. Kind of like Metallica Even if they never sang, their music would still more than make up for the fact that there'd be no lyrics.

Sweet! I agree for the most part. I don't listen to music in different languages just to seem more "open to other cultures"... ppl who do that seem pretty fake to me, and it's sad. cry You have to actually like what you're hearing, more importantly the actual music than the lyrics. I mean, when I listen to rap, I do realize what the rapper is talking about, and it's usually not pristine(sp?), but neither is whatever rap-haters listen to. I like anything that I can headbang to, attept to dance with, sing with, or lull myself to sleep with. That's all I ask for. Lyrics are a completely different story. 3nodding

Alright, sry for my little rant there. sweatdrop

Yeah, that pretty accurately summed up Slip's and my musical tastes. surprised

You know, I've noticed that Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen always gets people (myself included) headbangning. Just awesomely composed.

The vast majority of my music is in English or French. My former room-mate has been quite insistent about getting me into Ukrainian music (Haydamaky and Okean Elzy) and I love Celtic music (maybe because of my roots, maybe because of where I grew up). I also enjoy several Finnish bands, but they all perform in English. =(

Most of the French artists I listen to are Acadian (Grande Dérangement, Swing), Cajun (Zachary Richard), or Québecois (Ariane Moffatt, Anik Jean, Sébastien Lacombe...), but I also get a kick outta Manau. Seriously, French-Celtic-Rap songs about ancient battles? Ohhh yeah. blaugh

Here's a funky music video about Filipinos done by Contemporary Musicians "Black Eyed Peas"

The beat is a funky latino-southeastasian-islander-afro fusion teehee.

I listen to music in other languages because I think the languages themselves contribute to the music. I appreciate the sound of the language along with the sound of the music.

I don't listen to much music in any language, so I can't relate. Unfortunatley, the foreign languageas that like, the music is not so good. Indian and Indonesian voices get really high in singing for some reason, as well as the rest of southeast asia it seems, and I really don't like how that sounds. And I like the Japanese language, but the music is pheil, in my opinion. And I'm not a big fan of English either. So give me instrumental, or nothing. I am fond of the sitar though. [/hippie] neutral
