Kaze roared, gaining a bit of a lead due to is stamina. He craned his neck to see Kurno close behind him as the two swiftly flew around the outskirts of Kotobuki, no doubt startling many of the residents.

Kureno steeled himself, using his new form to push himself harder than he could have as a Pidgeotto. Screeching loudly, he gained speed, slowly at first, but getting faster.

Kaze saw this, growling deep in his throat with determination as he flapped harder, sending a few stray sparks from his tail with the speed at which he was flying. The flames quickly sputtered out once dislodged from their source.

Chloe heard Kaze's roar, and it registered, knowing that Kureno must have passed him. She smiled, knowing what his fury would be if he lost.

But her attention had turned somewhere else. At the far end of the clearing, a rustle was heard from the bushes. She approached the bush, peering inside.

"An Eevee!" she squeaked, startling the poor creature as it looked up from its berry that it had been happily munching on.

"Vee?" it blinked.

A couple of minutes of coaxing, and a poketreat later, Chloe had the Eevee's pokeball safely tucked alongside Kaze and Kureno's, while th Eevee stood beside her, munching on another berry.

"Wonder who's winning," Chloe murmured, peering into the distance, where the two forms of the pokemon could be seen.

"Veeee?" Layla looked up, confused.

"Ah, well, I have two other pokemon, Kaze and Kureno. They're in a race right now," Chloe explained.

"Eeev," Layla nodded, stretching out lazily.

"Hm... I wonder what to train you as," Chloe murmured. "I'd love to get all the Eevee evolutions one day, but I wonder what would suit you best."

A disgruntled roar brought her thoughts away from the Eevee, as Chloe spotted Kureno zipping to land on the tree from earlier, quite smug.

Kaze followed soon after, landing in the clearing and kicking up a small sandstorm from the movement.

"Kruee," Kureno nodded, catching his breath.

"You both did great, but I guess the points go to Reno today," Chloe grinned. "Although I'm sure Kaze would want a rematch very soon..."

"Char!" Kaze motioned his agreement with another roar.

Layla squeaked, hiding behind Chloe's leg. She looked down, before scooping up the Eevee. "And guys, this is Layla. We just met, so I'm introducing her to you two as well."

Kaze and Kureno nodded their greeting to the Eevee as well, before Chloe returned them to their pokeballs for the return trip to Kotobuki. She kept Layla in her arms, still pondering what to train her as. The Eevee seemed quite content for the moment, curled up and half-asleep.
