Unlike many of the other islanders, when you receive your next injection, there is no telltale swollen, itchy spot on your arm. Your flesh is so loose as it is, and mostly disjointed from the planty-fibred muscles beneath that a swelling in your flesh is hardly an appropriate reaction to the introduction of the serum into your strange bloodstream.
Instead, all of the next day you are craving the light like never before. Anything of an appetite is completely gone - at least in the traditional sense, and your pallor is even more greenish than normal. When you do make it outside, you can feel the ropey muscles twinging beneath your skin, coiling and seeming to flex independantly from the skin ... and even bones. In the strangest sensation you might have ever felt before, you can literally feel your physical sense of 'self' moving - no longer just that whole that was your body encapsulated in the fleshy areas, but diverting to the greenish bundles of cording between your skin and bones. Your heart still pumps the strange blood through your green veins, your brain still sits in the boney box of a skull, attached to your eyes. Teeth still rest in your jaw... but your lungs begin to shrivel... your stomach and intestines - although all still sheathed in an increasingly plantlike mass. THen... the skin begins to part from the remainder of your body. Flake by flake, it dries and seems to die, falling from you like so much used tissue paper. And everywhere it falls it reveals more ropey green-ness.
Most of the ropey muscle is vibrant green, although some maintains an almost fleshy color... and your feet become a tangle of roots. But the strangest thing of all, is that the vibrant plant fibers of your body have begun to detach themselves from your skeleton. While ligaments still hold most of it together from your elbows and knees inward, the only thing holding your finger, hand, and even distal arm bones together is the mobile vines that you realize you have control over. You can physically hold the bones in place... but if you were to relax your grip... the fingerbones drop to the ground - dry as, well, bones.
You might realize, your skeleton is becoming more of a framework to hold the mass of vines and organs into the shape of a person - not unlike how people use wires to shape growing ivy into archways or other shapes. Although, currently your skull and ribcage currently are both rather necessary to you - holding your remaining vital organs in the apporpriate spots - but even then, especially with your chest, you can "move aside" the vines to expose a beating heart for anyone to see - still
mostly flesh-colored, although the green tinge showing that there is a massive amount of clorophyll in your bloodstream.
And you thought that "plant-zombie" was an appropriate term before!
