::Myyth nodds thoughtfully for a few seconds and then glances over at the eggs. ::
"Anyhow I guess they flits to do move about too much for any real study....."
::She then does a very noticeable double take while looking at the eggs, and her gaze stays on them::

Ray grins. "It's an old family story, that when people first found flits, they wanted to get a good look at one. So they carried him into a room, closed the door, and went to get some Healer tools for an examination... and he disappeared! They found him with his bondmate in the next room, and couldn't figure out how he'd gotten through the wall and door."

She chuckles. "I find it hard to imagine not knowing that they can go between. But I guess we didn't always know, so someone had to be the first to figure it out."

::Myyth nodds looking back in Ray's direction::

"I've heard the story, I didn't know it was true though. Alot of tales are passed around and they seem to change with the telling. My mom once told me a story about how dragons could tell when one was lying. I always thought it to be like the "The dragon will come and eat you if your bad" pile, but now I'm not so sure. Dragons are smart they're not like runners or heard beast at all. Can dragons tell when you're lying?

::Looks somewht confused and surprised to be even be asking this. Still, a thought wanders accross the back of her mind "I need to know as much as I can to be a dragon rider, or to try to become one anyhow."

Yuck. Eating people? I'm offended at her idea of draconic tastes, humans are disgusting. Nakoreth tried to make light of it, but Kya knew he was disturbed at the thought that some humans believed that dragons would eat people.

"Uh," Kya tried to find the right words. "Dragons can see your thoughts. They don't really care what you're thinking, so don't worry if you don't have entirely appropriate thoughts... it's not interesting to them so they don't pay attention to it. But they know when you're not telling the truth. And they're smart like people, only they don't talk aloud."

They can see my thoughts?? Ah well, guess I should be glad I'm blessed wiith such boring ones. ::Mental snicker::

"Well that makes things a bit clearer, I think. The fact dragons can see my thoughts will take some getting used to."
::Shruggs:: "I think I'm going to head up to my room for awhile, I need to chatch up on my sleep. Somehow I doubt that I'll get much once the dragons hatch, provided I impress. Funny how I'm hopeing to spend the next few months, if not way not longer, in a state of sleep deprivation. My Mom would never believe it. "

::turns to go:: "I'll see you guys later I guess."

"Actually, they aren't smart like people. They're smart like dragons. It's a different kind of intelligence." Ray snorts at Kya's attempt to oversimplify things, and tries to come up with a good analogy.

"Have you ever had a conversation with a toddler? Maybe four turns old? You ask them a question, and they answer it honestly. They don't understand what you want to hear, they don't quite grasp if you'd be insulted or offended, and sometimes they say things that seem so much smarter than us older folks. The logic of a four year old is an amazing thing.

"So if I asked a toddler, 'Do I look fat in this outfit?' the toddler would say something along the lines of 'You always look fat,' and not realize that it might not be a nice thing to say. Or maybe I would ask 'What's your favorite color dragon?' and at that age, they wouldn't understand the difference between the color ranks, and pick their favorite based on a dragon that they know personally. Thus, when I was little, my favorite dragon color was blue, because my Uncle B'loure and his blue Telenth would watch me in the afternoons."

She grins. "Now that I'm older and looking back, I realize that I still adore Blues, they're some of the handsomest fellows around. I think I figured it out just before I came to Benden for the first time. I found myself thinking how undramatic, how unmomentous it was, to be ferried over to the Weyr from Telgar on a Blue. How it would be so much more fitting if I was on a Bronze. Then, realizing that I would be riding Telenth, and I remembered how much I adored him when I was little, and I knew I had been quite silly for a few years, because it's not the color, but the dragon that matters. I think I was much smarter when I was four turns old."

::Myyth turns to hear Ray out::

"I guess there are diffrent ways of looking at it. I'll keep it in mind when I have dealings with dragons though. I think the best way to learn would be to have a flit and to go from there. ::Smiles:: Anyhow, I'm off."

::walks out of the hatching grounds in the direction of the candidates quarters::

((anyhow I have to go off. See ya'll tomarrow, I'm off from school so I'll definately be on))

Kya elbows Ray. "You scared her off!" He slinks back off to his bench grumpily.

Ray snorts. "You scared her off yourself. Anyways, Candidates and Weyrlings don't have time for romantic entanglements. A dragon has to be at least four months old before they can understand their rider's relationships with other humans."

Kya mutters something under his breath darkly as he sits back down, just so Ray doesn't have the last word on the matter.

Sighing, Niko picks up her feet, the heat of the sands finally getting through her shoes. She looks up as her little bird flies down to perch on her hand. She smiles, and scratches Margarita's chest feathers. "Hello there, love, did you have a nice flight...?" Margarita is so sweet and cute, I just hope I'll be able to Impress... I wonder what color I'll Impress if I even do...? Maybe a blue, they're so graceful, and intelligent... Or a green! They are so quick and fast, like Margarita... She sighs inwardly, quickly shifting the little bird to her shoulder and picking her feet up again, watching the other Candidates and conversing Dragon Riders nearby.

((Sorry I'm late with this))

Bo was shocked when Isskio appeared, humming. Before he really had any time to register what was up, Feather was pushing a bowl of chopped meat into his hands. Surprised, he watched as she ran over to her fire lizard eggs.

The eggs!

Hurriedly, he raced back over to the egg he'd been watching, he'd left the eggpots in front of it. Opening them, he lifted the eggs out and onto the Sands. Nervously, he put down the bowl and picked out a few pieces for whichever egg hatched first.

They both cracked open at the same time. Startled by their abrupt entrance, they fanned their wings as he tried to figure out which one he was supposed to feed first. Belatedly, he grabbed another handful of meat, and offered both of the tiny flits their first meal. The little bronze reacted first, darting forward and attempting to grab a bite... but it didn't realize that it still had a rounded piece of shell over it's snout. As it opened it's mouth, the curved shell fragment broke in two. Surprised, the bronze reared back and screeched. During this time, the little blue beat his brother to the food.

Letting them eat all the bloody morsels he'd held in his right hand, he then picked them up one at a time and carefully placed them on his forearm, murmuring to them as he fed them...

As he reached into the bowl again, his hand unexpectedly touched the bottom. Looking, he saw only a few pieces left. Picking them up, he fed them to his new friends. After accepting the last bite, the bronze yawned, stretched, and curled up. The blue, however, seemed to want to play. Even as it's eyes slowly closed, it batted at Boryanor's hand and missed. Unable to excape the inevitable, he gave a sigh and moments later was asleep.

((For future reference, their names are Marvel and Rascal.))

A'nash was wandering about the Hatching sands, when he sees Isskio appearing near the eggs Ahhh the eggs must be hatching He thinks. He moves closer to have a better look at what is happening.

T'thia finished oiling her large bronze and stood back

"go to the feeding grounds and eat now alright?"

alright mine, where will you be? i want to fly later

"i'll be at the hatching grounds, they should be close by now, just wanna check them"

with that Arizath sprung from the ledge and went down to eat, T'thia turned and went down the steps going quickly to the hatching sands

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

T'thia entered the ground and looked over at the protective queen with a smile and a small bow before taking a seat in the stands to watch the sands. memories of her own hatching filling her head as they usual did with already impressed riders. she had impressed a bronze, the first and still only female to do so, she felt privlaged and a part of her hoped that no other girl would impress a bronze, she didn't want to be like the rest, she liked being different.

it was then that she saw A'nash, her memory went back to the day she arived on the riderless blue and how she hadn't spent much time talking to him, she waived at him hoping to get his attention, he was the wyreleader and it could never hurt to get on the wyre leader's good side, especialy when it ght thread along side him

From her seat between Wrath's forelegs, Ray noticed T'thia enter the Hatching Sands.

"Oh dear!" she exclaimed, "I forgot to arrange for the firestone lessons!"

I can ask Telenth if he and B'loure are up to the task, Wrath suggested. B'loure used to teach regularly back at Telgar, he should be able to handle the few Weyrlings you have left.

"Why didn't I think of that?"

Because you've been distracted. I need you, Isskio needed you, and you have duties here as well. The queen was quiet for a moment, and Ray heard, like a buzz in her mind, her talking quietly with someone else. Telenth says they can teach the Firestone this afternoon, if you would assemble the class. I should be fine for the time that you're away.

Thank you dear, you're a lifesafer!

Wrath blinked her inner eyelids lazily. Without me around, you'd lose your mind, leaving it around so much like you do.

Chuckling, Rayi stood up and strode toward T'thia.
