R'ign spotted someone moving closer to her stall and, confident that the gamer wasn't going to rip off the poor candidate too much, or so she hoped, she slipped over to it. Smiling at the young man that had edged closer, she noted that he seemed to like her picture of Klah. "Got a firelizard?" She asked him. Speaking of flits, where was that bugger of her own?

Klah had happily found a meatroll and devoured it and was now flapping about the Gather. He spotted Rayi talking to the Holders and returned to his rider to give her the image of the goldrider preaching to a bunch of wherries with the heads of Holders.

Meanwhile, the twins moved on from the song about the former Benden Weyrwoman to a less controversal one about firelizards, followed by another fairly popular song and bowed off the stage, which was then occupied by another group to play dancing songs.

As it grew dark, Aoki found herself wandering toward the dancing and music. She settled herself at an empty table near the dance square, placing a tray of bubbly pies on it. Aoki nibbled on one of the pies looking out at the dancers. There wasn't one she really recognized.

Aoki sighed, she'd never considered herself shy before but she couldn't make herself get up and talk to anyone. Her foot tapped in time with the music finishing off the first pie. If nothing else, she'd enjoy the warm night and the excellent music.

Well, apparently those holders hadn't appreciated her little speech, and had decided to follow her discreetly.

... Like dimglows like them could be discreet! Isskio had alerted Ray and is now keeping an eye on the two, having called a fair of other flits to keep her company, and from being too obvious.

Surprisingly, Ray finds it difficult to shake the pursuit. They aren't running, but neither is she, though she makes frequent turns. She glances around to see if any flits seem to be paying her unusual amounts of attention, but there's so many cavorting in the sky that she can't tell.

Ray ducks between a weaver's and a tanner's stalls, both tempoary shops having walls of canvas or leather, with a narrow passage between them. She moves quickly through it, then turns down the long alley behind two rows of stalls, to try to get to the main "street" in a position behind the two holders.

Isskio alerts her that they've moved to intercept. Swallowing an oath at their persistence, she turns around and darts in the opposite direction, nearly tripping over the damned skirts before she can gather them in one fist while holding out her other hand to ward off anyone who might try to get in her way.

One of the holders must have a flit! What were the odds? Isskio flashed an image of the two holders walking after her, though with the hanging cloths and irregularities in the construction of each individual stall, Ray couldn't see them. That they were walking was a good sign though, it meant she had time.

Time ... time to what? At least she had put distance between herself and her chasers. She makes her way back out into the crowd and calls Isskio back to her, after making sure the flit could immediately locate either fellow.

Surely they wouldn't try anything on her in the middle of a crowd? And Isskio was a match for anyone in a fight. Ray hoped...

Tolara blinked at the Harper's blunt words leaning back a bit. Valar chose that moment to strike up a howl, clashing with the music that seemed to be everywhere.

He winked at her over the wine and Tolara mustered a smile back. "No one's had much of a crop this year."

She listened to the man speak nodding to herself. "Few things frighten me.." Like bugs? Glith asked cheekily.

I'm not afraid of bugs...I just don't like them. The gold's patant disbelief was almost smothering. Tolara snorted focusing back on the MasterHarper and Valar's cries. "Shh... " Quietly she adjusted the baby, positioning him so he could feed.

Tolara continued. "Old men do have a tendency to be quarrlesome. And not much will help make it better. We've cut back on tithes as much as we can, having the dragons hunt wild game. I believe some of the younger riders even want to try fishing with their dragons." Tolara shrugged. "Still, it's a relief we won't have to work against you as well as the holders. One even had the audacity to try and remove a candidate during Hatching. "

Tolara sighed.
~~~*~~~~
A bitter smile crossed the man's face. "Right you are. Going to continue?"
Reina looked again at the doll, then nodded. "I'll keep playing." She knew it was a risk, but as she watched the egg pots from the corner of her eye she felt that it was worth it...
He nodded a small amount of good humor returning to his face. "Righto. 1 to five for the beaded bracelet.
She quirked an eyebrow at the bracelet. Not bad, she supposed... Still though, she always had an eye on the jars, and wondered how many other items she had to guess on before she got that far. Then she shook her head... she'd better worry about getting past this round first, before worrying about the next one. One though five... She looked down, letting the numbers run through her head for a minute, before lifting her gaze back to the man. "Four," she stated.
He had made his way back to the crowd. He was worried about his ride. Not many trusted outside the trains. But that was not his main worry. He was worried about Selene, Akai, the Hall. All he had done, for nothing, for a chance and a maybe. He liked harpering, adn the people he met doing it. He didn't want to leave them.
And thats when Arthas spotted her. He was given a direction and he followed it. He came up behind Selene and tapped her gently on the shoulder not wanting to startle her. He bowed deeply, "May have this dance?"
She turned, smiling warmly at Daniel's voice. "Well, better late than never!" she said. "Of course." She grabbed his hand and dodged swirling couples, dragging him with her. Good music, good atmosphere...what was the evening without good company?
He hadn't taken into account her gusto, and was dragged pretty harshly. This made Arthas dismount his shoulder. Being a harper he spent most of his time songing and not so much dancing. He hoped he wouldn't make a total fool of himself...just a partial one. they stopped in a gap in the dancers, and Daniel started to regret ever asking to dance. "I hope you know what you are getting into..." he said to Selene.
"Come on, all this time in the Harper Hall and you wouldn't know how to dance?" she laughed, teasing him. She placed a hand on his shoulder and held his hand with her other. It was a simple waltz anyway.
"Well it not that I don't know...I'm just, not as confident." He quickly fumbled as she grabbed his hand and placed his other on her hip((why doesn't this sound right)). He quickly found the beat and with an aplogetic look he began to lead them in the dance and he kept looking at her,in stead of her feet and thankfully he didn't step on her toes.
"See now, it's not that hard," she said with a grin. They whirled off across the floor, blending into the mass of motion and movement. He actually isn't that bad, she thought with slight surprise.
PostPosted: Mon May 16, 2005 9:44 pm
He suprised himself as well. He grinned like a fool, amazed with himself. Daniel soon got lost in the rythmic twists and turns. He was suprised that the end of the song came so quickly, but sadly like all things it ended. He looked at her hopelessly lost while others around him appluaded the Harpers.
The vendors mouth turned sour again. "One through ten, for the knife." It was a fairly nice knife, with a smooth handle and sharp edge.
