Hi guys again! It's been a while, and since then, we have gone to solo & ensemble (here at least). I played "Tempest" on Marimba and our ensemble was called "Millenium," both pieces got a first division. Watch out state, here we come (again)!

UIL is the 26th... I don't think we're having a pre-UIL though.

ugh, UIL is Friday. We'd better get sweepstakes, we would get murdered if we broke the 20 something year streak.

For our band trip this year we went to mustang island by corpus christi. We went a couple of weeks ago.
But while we were there we went and competed in the South Coast Music Festival. It was alot like our UIL contest. Our top band (which I'm in) got a 1, while our symphonic band got a 2. But they still sounded good!
Our songs all totaled up to about 18 1/2 minutes of playing!
Where does everyone else go on their band trips, that is if anyone goes?

one of our top band's songs is 19 minutes, I felt so bad for them, I'd get so tired.
We went to San Antonio last weekend for the Music Choice Festival. All bands got superior, and the 1st and 2nd bands got runner up in their categories. biggrin

I would loose all my spit in like the first 10 minutes of the song! In the 18 minutes of our songs I played about 11 minutes. I had too many rests! I played Eb contra-alto clarinet, and Bb Contrabass clarinet. Highly unwanted instruments! Yet, my director still wants me to play them! But I get to have fun marching with a Papercliped shape contrabass clarinet next year for marching season, and mabey a bass clarinet if I get tired of carying it!

Wait... I thought they don't march. All of our obscure instruments just go in the drum pit. And yes, 19 minutes is a bit much for one concert. xP

This year (as in last marching season) my director finally put in bass clarinets. So next year (as in next marching season), he wants to have a clarinet/woodwind section play a part of the song like he did with previous year brass.
I think its called an ensamble... but I don't remember much marching terminology.
So I pretty much volunteered to march with a contrabass so I could be apart of that section. (I'm pretty much an out cast) I am picked for all the low instruments!!

hmm, we've always had bass clarinets, but "obscure" instruments go to pit. Basoons, oboes, and all that jazz.
