Iv'e seen this before. It's okay.
The character creation system is a bit too in depth. I just use my imagination. I do need a storyline. so I looked at the storymaking section. And it was too.... basic.
I want a basic storyline in the begginning, and it gets more and more complicated throughout.
Building that graph is a good Idea and everything. But there's got to be another way.
P.S. I'm self taught as well, and I'm better than her. Then again there's like... a pro at my school, and she's a student. I watch her all the time. that might have something to do with it.
Hey, there are thousands of self-taught artists; Rio may not be the best of the bunch, but she took the time to make all those tutorials.
The character system was meant for a very generic Ren'Ai game (visual novel), but I see your point. I don't really know Rio as a writer, but then again, I have not played any of her games. As for the storyline-one, well, you came there to learn how to draw the manga style, not to learn how to write a story. Storylines are important to a manga, true, but it's a
how to draw site.
How to Draw Manga books do that a lot too, and their offers for how to write a story are no different than Rio's. It's all pretty generic, and the only way you can write a seriously complicated story is by just having great writing abilities (which you can only develop by reading more, yadda yadda yadda).

have you tried manga university?
Yeeep... it's not that good, trust me. Unlike mangatutorials.com where it does not demand anything but a paper, pencil, and your brain, Manga University FORCES the student to buy a bunch of How to Draw Manga books and copy things off it. Unless you enjoy spending your money like no tomorrow, I don't like it much.
I like the idea of scanning in your art and ensuring that you understand the lesson, but honestly, not everyone has money. D:
