(m)  Personality: Hasty "Thank you!" Masako said, releasing the small fire type. "So. . . what would be a good name for you? How about Fuego?" "Char!" He replied, and they walked out of the Professor's lab, to begin their journey.

Professor Oak looked up from his work on the Pokedex, noticing a new trainer entering his lab. At the request, he nods, smiling, "But of course! Hold on a second, I'll go get one from the back." He vanished through a door, returning a few minutes later, Pokeball in hand. "Here you are, he seems to be a calm and collected one. I'm sure you'll be great partners!" {{Yup, although I edited your post to put in Torchic's personality. That was the roll I got for him back at Elm's lab. Other than that, you're all set!}}
Professor Oak looks up from the pile of papers he had spread out in front of him to regard the trainer who entered his lab.
"Gyms? I know there is one in Peweter, but I do see that you have Torchic. Brock may be a little tough on you."
He pondered for a moment, before an idea struck him, "Ah, I know. Falkner would probably be the best first badge for you to go for. He's in Violet, although that's in another region, you can take the train from Saffron to get to Goldenrod. From Goldenrod, you can make it to Azalea, then Violet City. That's where Falkner resides over the Violet City Gym."
He nodded, "I might suggest that you train your Torchic for the upcoming battle, if you do plan on taking on Falkner. Although his Pokemon are probably the lowest caliber, he has some strategies that would leave beginners in the dust."
The Professor paused, thinking. "Hm... I know if perhaps you went into some grassy areas, there are wild Pokemon there, so you can catch a new partner, or even gain valuable experience from battling them, to train your Torchic into a winner."
He nodded, grin spreading, "Good luck to you, trainer!"
