the.ugly.duck.girl PoppyDadswell the.ugly.duck.girl hey! christianity originated in egypt or something like that (im probably totally wrong) but more than half the world worship it (which is totally sad) so why cant i worship halloween as the bestest vacation ever invented by mankind? and anyhoo my great-great-grandma was irish, so nya xp foo you and your point being? i certain hope that you are not implying that having a irish descendant gives you the right to broadcast how "Irish" you are, because all that means is you are just of irish descent nothing more. O HO HO! look who's TALKING! who's the person who thought she'd stick some f*cking post on the halloween guild, where about 0.111111111111% of the members are actually FULL irish, so that SHE could say, "hey, if you're not irish, *cough* like me *cough* then YOU DONT DESERVE HALLOWEEN!" i hope you burn in the never-ending pit of burning painfullness, where little cookies will torment you with their burning licorish sticks, and forever you will be derived of all that is TRULY halloweenish, like TNBC, and jackolanterns, and candy corn, and not some irish crap that you can come up with! and like hell people are gonna go all the way to fooey ireland just to celebrate halloween when it's a THOUSAND times better in the US! i cant BELIEVE the hypoctritiness of YOU! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAR! you deserve to get apples for halloween! i hope you do! 3nodding

PoppyDadswell Halloween is an irish custom and everyone here could not be irish,so feck off and find your own traditional customs. rofl all hallowseve is not just a "celtic or irish " custom it was all of old world includeing but not limited to english, scottish, irish, french, and many other cultures had a end of the year fall feastival , the greeks and romans had a fall festial to honor the gods and goddesses of the harvest i think that you should do some homework before you bash people dear . I am irish and i am pagan and it hurts to see that people are getting kinda wierd about others doing things from there culture that is not from it . ... you take christmas santa is not a christian or english creation he is from the norse he is = to odin the head of the norse gods but you do not see scandinavians getting mad cuse every year people but up pictures of santa and people dress like him in malls

Just because many Hallowe'en traditions come from old Celtic traditions doesn't mean the Irish are the only people who can celebrate it... rolleyes And really... we pagans could argue that it was our RELIGION that started it, not the specific culture. And since the pagan religion incorporates many old world cultures, our claim is stronger. wink You don't EVEN want to get into a debate about stealing holidays with pagans... we've had waaaay too much practice to lose...

Wow. Does it matter who it's celebrated by? It's just a holiday and anyone can celebrate it if they want. It's not limmited only to the irish. Plus, I'm american and i don't see what the big deal is. Why'd you even post that? Seems kinda pointless to me.

[Mileena] Or how about if America comes and squashes Ireland and takes the holiday for ourselves? Be serious....
but thats exactly what America does which is why Irish people hate that. you want to celebrate Halloween,St.Paddy's day, well go to Ireland.

DiogieDOG You have to be in Ireland to celebrate Halloween? Uh-huh. Let's think about this. No matter where you go, America, Austrailia, England, Timbuktu, Mars, whatever, you can not change your blood. Irish people in America can't celebrate Halloween? So...you're telling people to forget about their heritage? Either way, it shouldn't matter who you are or where you come from. Everyone in America has ancestors that came from somewhere else. We live together, share our traditions, and have fun with each other. All in all, we accept eachother. You should learn to do the same. i do live together with other nationalitys- i went to a boarding school for 6 years, the last year in which i boarded.as a result most of the school was foreign, they came from Russia,America,Spain,Germany,France,Italy,South Korea,Japan,England,Northern Irland smile ,Wales,Africa,Sweden and Lanzarote.even the teachers were foreign, the came from Japan,Germany and Northern Ireland.my best friend comes from Georgia in Russia and i miss her very much.I have friends from Germany whom i also miss.of course i had fun with them-i learnt how to dance a spanish dance very badly, learnt to speak a little russia, learnt a lot of german, learnt a japanese dance and quite a bit of the language.in my school it didnt matter who or what you were either, but you didnt get anyone learning something from another country and then claiming it as their own, which is what the americans are doing with irish traditional customs.i wasnt saying to forget about their heritage i am saying americans must have more respect-sure they can come to ireland and celebrate their heritage but they cannot go around claiming halloween and st.paddy's day as an american custom.their arrogance is unreal.of course not all americans are like so,i know some lovely americans, but sadly the general trend isnt so.
