k so my senior year of high school me and two of my friends had solos in the "loosiana" dixie land style jazz arrangement of Amazing Grace. well everything was great at the start.we took our positions on the sides of the stage on the stairs and played our first solos then made our way down to the front of the auditorium. i tripped and my clarinet got shoved up into my throat...owies i started crying! then we played our next solos then we made our way back up to our seats to get ready for our last solos. my trombone friend tripped and the slide fell off and hit the stage and fell off it right down into the pit. he ran and got it then i went for my last solo...and wouldn't ya know it...i ******** it up! musta been a bad night for me and my trombone buddy...the lucky trumpet girl got off clean!

My orchestra was playing the Rutter Requiem, and my stand partner looks over at me and says, "You know what this needs? More cowbell." It was too perfect.

So, this year, there was a speech about common courtesy and the band room bathroom...about using the fan, two flushes, leaving doors open and whatnot if you feel you are going to alter the atmosphere of the room...it was great...
Last year, in band class, i had my fishnet armwarmers on, and i was putting my clarinet together. My luck, my luck, I got my fishnets hooked around my Blow E key on the left...I've done this with hoodies between pieces too.
Also last year, I had this freaking awesome necklace. It was a black chain with three black crosses, one black skull, two black roses, and two black stones [do we notice a pattern forming? ha ha]. In an ATTEMPT [srri bout that] to get my case open to put my clarinet away, i used my awesomenesh skillz to hold my clarinet between my head and my shoulder. I was kinda worried, it is my baby and if anything happened to it I'd cry. When I went to pick it up again, it wouldn't move. I had my necklace caught on numerous keys. Five minute later, I got it untangled...
Again with last year [yes, all amusing happened last year...for the most part], something on my clarinet wasn't working, a spring was out of place. My director was trying to fix it, and an idiot drummer said "Give me a hammer and some duct tape, I'll fix it." Needless to say, I whimpered a little loudly. My director than disappears into the storage closet, and comes back with a pair of pliers and a hammer!!!
Okay, last year once more. We had a band class in the first marking period, and a few days in, the director decided on a new seating arrangement. The front row was::: drummer, me, drummer, flute, drummer, flute, drummer. The rest of the winds were in the second row. For one song, he instructed only the front row to play. The flutes pretended they were part of the second row, but I played with the drummers. They all messed up the easiest rhythms so badly, it was hilarious! As soon as we finished, they all blamed me, saying that I threw them off. They then proceeded to beat me with drumsticks...

During this year's Honor Roll Assembly, one of the flutists decided to talk one of the tubas into playing something. I didn't kow what it was until I heard the first three notes. The band was playing "Hey Baby!" The whole band sang or played along with it, except for the oboes and any other instrument that were just concert instruments. The BD, Mr. Macrina, and the principal, Mrs. Szachowicz (aka Dr. Szach) started dancing along. You do not want to see two old people dancing on stage. It turns out that the middle row of the Assembly was still there and dancing, as was the chorus.
Also, during my sophomore year, we played a Blues Brothers Medley. to really bring home the fact that it was the Blues Brothers, we had a student and Dr Szach act as the Blues Brothers for the song "Soul Man." I would have laughed had I seen it.

One time when we were rehearsing for our Christmas concert in 7th grade we had the annoying Trombone player that EVERYONE hated (I bet the band director did to although he acted like he didnt) then he kept trying to tell the band director what to do and finally he just threw the stick thing he uses to conduct us at the boy.And this dud is so retarded that he fell backwards like it actually hurt.Everyone bust out laughing. xD

This other time we were practicing when everyone hears a coughing noise but it was the tuba player Nick clearing his throat and everyone stopped and looked back at him and our Band Director said "Nick, please go die somewhere else."and everyone even Nick started laughing.

Hmm well. When we were playing a piece of music, my friend lost grip of his cello, and well, we have a raised stage so it went clanking off the stage. Needless to say, ti broke.

I'm the last chair cellist, and during the concert (Between pieces), I sneeze, loudly. About half the people on stage sneezed after me, including our director. It was funny.

Oh! and then there was the time I got over enthusiastic (I think we were playing Linus and Lucy, from Charlie Brown) and my bow flew out of my hand and hit the (rather cute) drummer in the head. He started playing the drums with the frog, and I continued on, pizz. style. Our Director thought it was lovely, but the last chair cellist needed to stop being a klutz. "Can't help what comes natrually" was what I think I said.

I've had a few funny moments but one of the best has to be when we were playing a piece, (sorry can't rememberwhat so long ago) and the trumpet guy sneezed out the last chord. It was perfect -a little out of tune and squeeky- but fitted in perfect with a big bang ending!
(I would hate to clean it afterwords though. A snot filled trumpet...lovely.)

Another funny moment. Our fiddle orchestra was at Kirreymuir music festival -that is a competition thing we go to- and after the morning and noon competitions we all went to a restaurant for tea. Well their our conducter an old woman in about her fifties- but looks older- makes a comment about all of us running round the town five times before the night time concert.
Our doublebassist unable to avoid the goad then say's "after you dear" (NB the conductor is best described as a victorian head mistress she can be quite scary when you're cheeky)
anyway she says alright and the next thing we know we're cheering the two of them on (a large 17 year old and an old woman) in a race arround the small town. Absolutely hillarious.
The amount of people staring at these two weirdos running through the night was just hillarious - I can only imagine what they were thinking. biggrin

One time we were practicing a really hard orchestra piece (I think it was sleigh ride, can't be too sure) and we were in the fastest part for first violins, and I'm sitting second chair, first violin, and the BD walks over spaztically directing, when she hits my music stand, and has it facing toward the first chair.(who was using the same stand) Meanwhile, I'm playing as best as I could from memory, and I slowly lean back, and raise my foot ever so slightly. By now everyone in the first and part of the second violin section are trying not to laugh. Well, I gently kick my stand, and the BD gives me the look of "What the hell are you doing?!" and I lean back forward, continuing to play. We stop, and she corrects the celloists, while all of the violins and some of the violists are laughing. She then whirls around to face me, and screams, "What the heck were you doing?! You kicked your stand!" I reply "But I couldn't see it! What am I supposed to do, screw everyone else up?" And everyone laughs while my BD throws her baton at me and misses. That made everyone, including me, laugh all the harder.

This one is not very funny but in my orchestra there are only two cellos ,me and my friend, and I lost my piece of music like 15 minutes before the concert. My friend had the piece of music we needed and the concert had already started, so when we finshed our song was finshed I ran out of the gym to get the music and my band teacher was mad.
~One of the advanced orchestra kids took the screw off the en pen and the en pen got pushed into the body of the cello.
~Lastly, the kids on my orchestra shouts out crazy words and when ever some one brings in food it is thrown more than eaten. ninja
