I was in 8th grade, but now I'm going into 9th. Eighth grade was cool though because I was the only female percussionist in the top band in our Jr. High. And also I play Marimba in Marching band this year, and I'm the only kid on marimba that isn't in High School. nwn;; It's fun though. Due to the Lack of High school Percussionist that are willing to do Marching band because they are too busy doing other things, I have a lot of kids from my percussion class in Pit. o3o I love band.

Our middle school had no marimba. So when we go over to the high school, it's like, "Whoa, what is this?"

I'm in the middle school band and it's ok and I am mostly only in it because my friend made me so she would do something for me! I don't like it that much even though I like playing and I'm not to fond of my band director either!

I'm in middle school as well :3 8th grade, to be specific (or I will be in September). My school's band is a lot of fun. We've got a great band instructor, and we always have a lot of fun, although most of the time we're acting like complete lunatics XD

Black Trees I don't know if there is already a thread about this, but I didn't see one...
I figure I'm going to hate myself for this later seeing as I'm admitting that I'm only in middle school while most everyone else is I'm guessing in high school...I'm tired of seeing all of these marching band related threads since they don't apply to me. Anyone else here in middle school and want to chat about middle school band programs? I'm In Middle School. I'm Going Into The 7th Grade... I'm In Concert And Jazz Band I Play The Flute And For Jazz... I Dont Know What Instrument To Play Yet...

[Aelfwyn] Miyoko Clarinetti Awwe that sucks >.< is she a good percussion player? because if she is then you can't complain..unless it's trumpet that was really for her. We have a bunch of girls in brass, infact last year there was a girl who was a trombonist, and when she was in seventh grade she was in third chair in our wind ensemble and last year in eighth grade she was first chair biggrin . Oh no...now I'm starting to wish that my conductor and the people who could change schedules change mine.... gonk they sticked me in brass when i'm a woodwind player. we have a new principal...and she seperated the brass/percussion from the woodwind!!! I'm sure it was NEVER like that, last year in sixth grade it was like that just so we can experience other electives every other day... but for some reason nothing went wrong during concerts biggrin . Don't worry, feel proud you're the only girl in brass! I was the only girl in the front row...and i felt proud x3 be better then the guys and make them feel stupid--i did that smile -miyoko The thing is that the formal trumpet, now percussion is really good still. grrrrrrr. Well she has played the piano since she was born pratically, lol, so she plays the bells good. Well now that we're with with 8th graders, im getting 2nd chair. though i am still the best 7th grader I really thing it sucks that principals can have a say in how the band is run. half of them were probaly never even IN band. evil lol,my band teacher punched my princiapal in the face once.Principal said"You should sit them all occording to height"so mr c just punched him in the face and said"Dont tell me how to run my band".

I loved middle school band, or as it is called here in AZ junior high, mrgreen I had so much fun in middle school, I discovered that band is like the coolest thing and I shall never quit as long as I live! All I can say to you middle school musicians is keep playing! You will have a blast if you stay in band because you will meet so many people that you will talk to for years on end and you will have many oppertunities to show the world what you can do.

I'm going into grade 8 band (middle school) this year. In normal band and cadet band i'll play flute, but this year for jazz band i'm going into alto sax because there isn't much to do if your a flute in jazz. Plus I like alto sax. New school next year... oh yeah and... I'm going to band camp on the 20th!!!!! *Runs in circles flailing arms* Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Tubariffic iOggy Black Trees I don't know if there is already a thread about this, but I didn't see one... As far as I know, this is an original. 3nodding Kepp talking, you cute little middle schoolers! xd (Yes, I will refer to you as little. I'm a HS senior. domokun ) Awww there so cute ^^ lol. i hated middle school band, i was stuck in the worlds worst lowbrass section, there was only 2 good ppl in lowbrass in 8th grade me, tuba and a trombonegirl, that was in 7th ^^ and were also the only lowbrass ppl to get into symphonic band in highschool. i allways hated 6th grade beggining band becuase we had the 4 "main" instument, flute clarinet trumpet trombone. tehn at the middle of the year we had tryouts to swite to the "secondary" istruments like alto sax and percussion. i tried out for percusion and didnt make it becuase i was to good (?) then the "thirdary"(? lol) class tryouts came for tuba, baritone, oboe, bassclarinet, basoon, tenor and bari sax and french horn came. i tried out for baritone and made it (yay) but then my msbd (middle school band director, hooray for abreviations) being the nazi she is switched me to tuba. and I had to teach my friggen self how to play it, i played trombone and i had no clue about the valves lol, and everything was an octave lower. i had a chance this year to switch to bariton scence theres only 2 next year and 4 tubas but scence 2 tubas are graduating that year that would leave 1 buy him self the next year. wow this is a long post. by cute little muffins! heart lol im having fun xp domokun domokun xp domokun domokun You had Beginning Band in 6th Grade? I had my Beginning Band in 4th grade!
In 4th grade, they used to give you a sheet of paper that would tell you what instrument you wanted to play. But now, they have you test out each of the instruments and you can pick one from there. Then when your in between 5th and 6th grade, your in the Advanced Band. And then you'll be able to try out what they call, the All Star Band. I was in the Advanced Band and the All Star Band, and I had a solo in the All Star Band.
Well, now that I'm in Middle School, I have the Junior High Band. And if your really good, they let you play in the Senior High Band.
