Set up a video camera around every area that has cat food, or potential cat recipes, such as the kitchen. Watch them everyday, and see what your brother eats. If you don't have any cats.. then your mom is mixing in cat food into your brother's food, just to spite you.

Roughly one and a half to two weeks. If you don't pick at it. Or if you don't have deathly allergies than begin making the bug bite take on the shape of some random continent.
