Peppa in Neibours fancies 10 cool
Peppa and... Thinger, her boyfirend who I've forgotten the name of... Had quite a long discussion of Doctor Who (long considering the programs only about 20 mins long) I was quite shocked to hear something like that in Neibours cos they dont usually mention other shows and stuff.
Just shows how damn good and popular Dr who is. 3nodding

There's been a few mentions of Doctor Who in the repeats of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Usually in the "Film And Theatre Styles" round, or occasionally in the "Props" round.

Say Wha?

I'm assuming you mean the Brit version, not US? xD
And I prefer the US version as it's what I grew up with, but I'll have to look it up online or something....that would be SO awesome as I love that show.

Yeah, I mean the UK version. It's being repeated on Freeview at the moment, and as I was a bit too young to watch it on original broadcast (the series that's on at the moment is from 1995, when I was 11, and it was on after my bedtime), I try not to miss it now. I've seen the US version and I'm not as keen on that one, sorry! Mind you, Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie doing the "Sound Effects" round always makes me cry with laughter!

Not a show, but a series of comics. That've accidentally ended up featuring the Doctor.

It's a complicated story. Make a cup of tea. Put a record on.

In the heydey of Marvel UK the imprint was producing comics for an exclusively British audience - even those that were set in the 'Marvel Universe'. American Marvel fans typically regarded those stories as non-canonical. So Marvel UK operated as it's own little feifdom, separate from the rest of the company.

Starting with The Neutron Knights and playing out in the Tides of Time, their Doctor Who comic strips featured the ever popular otherworldly enchanter Merlin. The thing is, Marvel UK also used this same version of Merlin in their Captain Britain comic.

Over in the US, Chris Claremont, an important writer of the X-Men, eventually set up a British-based offshoot of the team called Excalibur for the American Market. In doing so he brought all the stories from Captain Britain unequivocally into mainstream Marvel continuity. This included Merlin, who became increasingly important. As did his daughter Roma to an even greater extent.

The fun twist then comes in televised Doctor Who in the final season of the original series. The story Battlefield reveals that Merlin is a future incarnation of the Doctor. Or that Merlin's a paralell universe's version of the Doctor. The details are left ambiguous on that one but either way Merlin is the Doctor.

And since Marvel have ended up with Doctor Who's version of Merlin then, if you take everything on surface value, a key character in the X-Men mythos has, by a series of accidents, turned out to have been the Doctor all along. smile
